CAMIRON VILLAGE Men and busnesses are alke n one respect, says Gerald A. Parsons, 30-year-old marketng and personnel development specalst. Ther success depends to a great extent on how well they respond to challenge. And I ve found that the bggest challenge a man has to face on hs job s not the competton of others - but the far more mportant one of developng hmself to hs fullest capabltes. Durng my four years wth General Electrc, I ve had plenty of opportunty for self-development. Challengng tranng assgnments at fve dfferent locatons wthn the company have gven me a broader understandng of my career area. In my present job I have the beneft of workng wth experts, both n establshng long-range goals and n helpng to acheve them. I ve found that workng toward future potental s vtal n the development 'of successful busnesses '- and successful men. Young men such as Gerry Parsons are mportant to the future of companes lke General Electrc and to the growth of Amerca s dynamc, compettveenterprse economy. Our naton s progress wll depend more and more upon those forward-lookng ndvduals who contnue to develop to ther fullest capabltes durng ther lfetme. ' That s why General Electrc provdes a clmate for ndvdual progress wth opportunty for ncreasng knowledge and sklls for all of ts cmployees, ncludng 30,000 college graduates. For t s only as ndvduals meet the challenge of selfdevelopment that there contnues to be progress for a busness, an ndustry, or a naton. kaourmod/mwm ssumu mcmc
