2 1) ACADEMICS This term appears to be passing by quite rapidly as we have 12 school days before the term comes to an end. Term 1 has certainly been a rewarding one in many ways. Tomorrow night we will be entertained by the much awaited Mr and Miss FHS show, and we wish all contestants everything of the best. The Gr.11 Design learners have shown great enthusiasm and creativity in their project this term! Many hours of preparation, tonal drawings, mood boards, and collecting milk bottles and other materials to construct garments for their life size mannequins. The results are amazing and we are very excited about the future for these right brain thinkers. Some of these dresses are on display until the end of the term in the upper MPC go check it out! Caitlin Craddock Shawn Thomas Lorena Cozzolino This team of 2 got their inspiration from milk bottles. Five years later, Katerina Sarafoglou s home in Asia Minor is destroyed by the Turkish army. Losing her mother in the chaos, she flees across the sea to an unknown destination in Greece. Soon her life will become entwined with Dimitri s, and with the story of the city itself, as war, fear and persecution begin to divide its people. Thessaloniki, 2007 A young Anglo-Greek hears his grandparents life story for the first time and realises he has a decision to make. For many decades, they have looked after the memories and treasures of the people who were forced to leave. Should he become their next custodian and make this city his home? Well done, Tyron! 16) PRINCIPAL I would like to draw our readers attention to the Celebrating Earth Hour event at Fairmont on Wednesday, 26 March This will be the first time that Fairmont has hosted such an event. As inhabitants of our wonderful Earth, we all need to be ever vigilant of the role that we can play in respecting our environment in every possible way. From what I am informed, the guest speakers at this event will be presenting some cutting edge research and development from our Universities with respect to Hydrogen powered vehicles and the use of solar energy to provide clean, renewable energy, and more. I thank the role players at Fairmont for taking the initiative to host this educational experience and hope that it becomes an annual event, and grows from strength to strength. Have a good weekend. Yours sincerely Mr R Dingley PRINCIPAL Disclaimer: Fairmont High School does not necessarily endorse the products/services advertised in this circular.
