2 Dear Golfers and Supporters of St Clare Hospice, Everyone knows that every good building begins with one important thing a solid foundation. To build something well that will stand the test of time, you must have a good base to start from, which is why over the past few years here at St Clare Hospice we have been working hard to ensure a sound foundation upon which to grow and develop our services for all the people we care for. That groundwork is now beginning to pay dividends, with this year heralding an exciting new phase in the Hospice s history. Firstly, we have been able to invest in our own bricks and mortar, creating inspiring, modern and therapeutic spaces for patients and families through our Space to Breathe refurbishment. The aim of the project was to transform our Day Therapy and Community facilities into bright, revitalising areas which enhance the Hospice environment, and it s been wonderful to see the benefits they are bringing to patients and families visiting our Hastingwood centre. These changes to the Hospice building have coincided with the expansion of our community service, with our Hospice at Home team now delivering our skilled and compassionate care directly to people wishing to spend their final days at home. Ensuring each and every patient receives the care and support they deserve will always be the cornerstone of what we do. It is with the support of those of you here today, and our friends at Weston Homes, that we are able to extend and grow our services to ensure we continue to be there for local people now and in the years to come, and for that we are forever grateful. 3 20 th Annual Golf Day Friday 12 th September 2014 The tournament The Tournament will run as a Stableford Team Competition (teams of 4 people with the best 3 scores to count) with the best overall score winning the Daniel Robinson Trophy. There will be numerous prizes for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd, Nearest the Pin prizes, Longest Drive prizes and many others. Entry fee per team (of 4) This entry fee includes: A large full English buffet breakfast/brunch with tea/coffee and juice. The choice to play on one of the two stunning courses at Stoke by Nayland; The Constable and The Gainsborough (subject to availability). A fabulous four course meal in the evening with some excellent entertainment and opportunities to win and/or purchase some exciting items. There will be a prize giving ceremony and an auction. If you sponsor a hole we will decorate the tee for you with your company logo. Let us do the legwork for you We are offering to purchase a sponsorship prize to the exact cost of the money donated. Prize sponsorship In the past there has always been an excellent prize table and it is our aim for the same again this year. Therefore if anyone would like to donate a prize, however small, please let us know ASAP. There will be a putting competition, nearest the pin prizes, longest drive and many other prizes to sponsor. Programme sponsorship We intend to produce a programme for the event in which all companies sponsoring holes or donating prizes will receive a mention. However, businesses may advertise in the programme regardless of sponsorship the costs being 100 for a full page and 50 for a half-page. If you wish to place an advertisement, please send details ASAP. 8 Dress Etiquette We are sure all those attending will be both courteous and considerate to other golfers and the Golf Clubs on the day, nevertheless we would remind you of the following: Starting times The tee reservation times are allocated to ensure that the day goes without problems and delays; punctuality is important and starting times are to be STRICTLY adhered to. Dress Smart casual wear is required to be worn at all times. Gentlemen are required to wear jackets and ties for all golf-associated functions. Clothing worn on the course should not be worn in the Clubhouse. On no account are spiked shoes to be worn in the Clubhouse or Bar Area. Course dress code as listed. Denim suits, denim jeans, tee shirts, singlets, vests, track suits and waterproof golf clothing are not to be worn in the Clubhouse or in the Golfers Bar nor are golf shoes, trainers, canvas shoes or stockinged feet. Ladies will be allowed to wear tops and shorts without sports socks on the course, provided that they comply with course rules. Gentlemen will be allowed to wear tailored shorts, knee length with white socks may be worn on the course, but may not be worn in the bar after 6pm or in the restaurant at any time. Gentlemen s sports shirts must have collars and sleeves. Please do not take trolleys onto the tees or beyond white lines in front of greens. Slow play is to be avoided at all times. The Course Marshall is responsible for the monitoring of course usage/ speed of play and may if necessary take appropriate action to address this as required. Players must rake bunkers after use, replace all divots and repair pitch marks on the greens. When using buggies, users must ensure that they adhere to the buggy rules issued at time of hiring. A valid Full UK Driving Licence is required and drivers must be over the age of 18yrs. Conduct of play Slow Play. It is essential that golf etiquette in all its forms are exercised fully and that slow play is avoided at all times, e.g. a ball should be picked up in a Stableford Competition if it is not possible to score. Scores should be entered whilst one s partner is teeing off, move quickly between shots, do not take more than one practice swing. Public liability insurance Golfers are advised to check their own insurance for personal injury against any claim that may arise whilst playing on the course. Course rules Tee reservations: Whilst we endeavour to adhere to course/tee times stated, we reserve the right to make any necessary amendments should circumstances dictate. Mobile telephones Please note that mobile telephones are BANNED on all courses and in the Clubhouse.

Exit the A12 at the Colchester Central turn off, picking up the A134 signposted to Sudbury. The distance from the A12 turn-off to the club is approximately 8 miles. Once on the A134, pass through the village of Nayland, ignoring any signage to Stoke-By-Nayland. Once in Leavenheath (still on the A134), pass the Hare and Hounds Public House on the right hand side, and continue a further 200 yards turning right on to the B1068. This is signposted Stoke by Nayland and Stoke by Nayland Golf Club. Proceed along the B1068 for approximately 1.5 miles, and the club is located, and signposted on the right hand side. From Midlands/Cambridge/Sudbury Join the A14 at the M1/M6 junction and travel eastwards towards Cambridge. Continue on the A14 past Newmarket to Bury St Edmunds and exit the A14 at the third exit for Bury St Edmunds signposted A134 Bury St Edmunds/Sudbury. Travel south to Sudbury and remain on the A134 in the Direction of Colchester. Pass through the village of Newton Green and upon reaching the village sign for Leavenheath, turn left onto the B1068 to Stoke by Nayland (also signed for The Stoke by Nayland Club). After approximately 1.5 miles the Club is located on the right. From Norwich/Ipswich Leave Norwich on the A140 and join the A14 in the direction of lpswich. Join A12 in London direction. After approximately 5 miles, take the B1068 signposted Higham and Stoke by Nayland (this is a right turn via a filter across the dual carriageway). Continue along the B1068 passing through the village of Stoke by Nayland. The Stoke by Nayland Club is situated on the left hand side, approximately one mile from the village, towards Leavenheath.
