Kam comes to BHCC from Honey Creek Country Club where she served as Assistant General Manager/ Accountant for the past six years. Kam has a strong background in Finance and Human Recourses including working for the Georgia Pharmacy Association, Georgia Association of Realtors, and with Peachtree Residential Properties. Please stop by and say hello to Kam. It s that time of the year again for us to begin blowing the leaves. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as mowing the grass. There will be a period this fall when we completely blow off a hole and, 30 minutes later it will look like we haven t been there in a while. This month, you will see us begin cleaning and preparing the landscape beds on the course. As you see, we did some of these areas on the course before the Member/ Guest tournament. This is our look for all landscape beds on the course that we want for the entire year. The tree beds are not in the plan. We hope to continue trimming and thinning tree beds for grass, like #7 and #13. We will over-seed the Driving Range tee this month. Last year was a test and I did not like the outcome of not overseeding. We normally over-seed the tee right after the Member/Guest, but due to a couple of tournaments that require the use of the range, we will over-seed the tee on the morning of October 18th after the college players finish teeing off. At that point, the range will be mats only, including tee shots, until it is ready. I hope the range will be ready for the Tough Day tournament. For the fescue areas to prep, we will begin also this month. Our plan is to eliminate out of play areas. Our planned areas this fall are: in front of #3 tee, around #4 tee, left of #2 at the bend of cart path to the fence, and behind #7 green. This is a lot of work for our staff and it may take into November to complete. If you have any questions, please stop and ask me anytime. Chris Purvis Member Guest This year s Member Guest was the largest field in over 10 years. Contestants played 5 nine hole matches over the course of 2 days along with a skillz challenge, moonlight close up contest, casino night, and much more. The 60 team field was divided in to 10 flights of 6 teams. The top 2 teams from each flight made it to the sudden death, 4-hole shootout to decide a Champion. After 3 holes and sudden death chip offs to break ties, we were left with 2 teams on #18. Bob Beebe and his guest Bob Lee faced off against Brian Kelleher and his guest Dean Dennis. Kelleher and Dennis walked away victorious with a very solid par to win the Shootout. We really appreciate everyone that participated this year and we hope to see everyone next year too! This year 32 players competed, broken up in to White Tees and Gold Tees division. Tom Williams shot a blistering 64 net in the White Tee division while Bill Cowles was victorious in the Gold Tee division with a score of 66. The other top finishers can be found below. Thanks again to all who competed! On Thursday, Sept. 22nd our seniors hosted Crooked Creek Country Club in an interclub match play format. Teams gained one point for winning the front nine, back nine, and the overall match. Our seniors played very well and won 17 of the available 18 points! We now wait to see if their season long point total can get them in to the Championship Match and defend their title from last year!
