1 NFCA Educational Conference &Association Meeting February 27 - March 1, 2011 The Grand Floridian, Disney World, Orlando, FL Greetings Fellow Fireproofing Contractors and NFCA Members; I hope all of you are looking to a positive year end and getting ready for the Holiday Season. We are getting the announcement out a bit early this year as our Education Conference has been bumped to an earlier date. We are meeting in Orlando this year and Hugh has lined up some very pertinent presenters for the conference. We are also doing it this year on Sunday (golf), Monday and Tuesday for the meeting. I hope this works for everyone concerning travel as we need as much participation as we can get. Please remember that your dues payment covers the first participant fee to the conference. The focus of the Educational Conference has been to provide a varied set of presentations that can assist our membership in every day operational activities as well as motivate our membership. This year we have assembled presentations that continue these goals. Following are summaries of programs to be presented in Orlando. A copy of the detailed conference program is attached Estimating for Advantage This program will be conducted by Fails Management Institute and will provide information on forecasted construction this year and in future years. The program will also focus on best estimating practices that will allow you to have a more profitable year even in a recession. Increasing your business opportunity through add on products will better utilize employees that you want to keep when the market picks up. The Thermal Barrier Business Opportunity Adding associated business to your current business is an opportunity to increase your business and maintain your staff in which you have a large investment. The thermal barrier business is one such business. This program will discuss concepts, the market and its location and range of products that are available from your current suppliers. Understanding the IBC The International Building Code affects all participants in our market. Our consultant will discuss building occupancy, building types, height and area tables and how our products fit into the code arena. Special topics on code interpretations will also be covered.

2 Supplier Forum This is time set aside for our suppliers to address product opportunities or product changes with their products as well as providing an opportunity to ask questions. NFCA Contractor Accreditation Program The Board of Directors approved the development of a NFCA operated contractor accreditation program. The developed program covers both SFRM and Intumescent products with the operating manual focused on quality control of product application. The details of the program and its operation will be discussed. ICC Code Process and Actions This presentation will cover the code development process including the time requirement from initial request for a code change to implementation in the market. Recent code changes that affect the industry s market will be covered along with future changes. Working With Fire Protection Consultants Fire protection consultants can assist you in providing answers to project questions regarding code issues as well as application issues. The subject of this presentation is how to work with a consultant and when to bring a consultant on board for your benefit. Estimating Workshop The details of proper project estimating will be discussed by a contractor and attendees will be divided into four groups to actually develop a job estimate. The estimates will be compared and discussed during the session. NFCA Activities Update This time will be used to let you know activities that the NFCA are undertaking to provide assistance to the industry. This presentation will help you understand why the NFCA needs your support. Committee Meetings Committees meetings will be held Monday afternoon. Agenda for the committees will be available before the conference. Your participation is encouraged and joining a committee will facilitate committee work. Optional Programs As part of the Education Conference program, we are offering optional programs for our attendees. A golf tournament on Sunday February 27 starting at 10:00AM will be held on the Magnolia golf course. All golfers are urged to participate with a fun day in the sun. On Monday March 1, a guided tour and lunch will be available to our conference guests of. The tour will cover important elements of Disney activities not seen by most visitors. Details and registration forms for both of these programs are attached.

3 Hotel This year, the meeting is being held at Grand Floridian Resort, Disney World, Orlando, FL. Room rates at the hotel are $249 for both standard and double. Taxes are added at the rate of 12.5%. Reservations can be made by calling and use Option 1. Payment Option As an added benefit, the NFCA is now accepting MasterCard, VISA and American Express credit cards as a payment method. The NFCA does not maintain a record of your credit card information once the transaction has been completed. The course design masterfully uses the area's natural features to enhance the beauty of the lush, rolling greens and sparkling water hazards all for a course deserving of its excellent 4 star-rating by Golf Digest. Disney's Magnolia Golf Course features wide fairways dotted with 97 bunkers. It represents a paradise for serious golfers, as well as a thrilling challenge for players at all levels. Step onto the first tee and into the shoes of champions. You'll find yourself powering your way down sweeping fairways at this, the home to the final rounds of the Children's Miracle Network Classic. We will play the white tees for men and red tees for ladies. The white tees play 6558 yards with a slope of 130 and the red tees play 5127 yards with a slope of 126.
