5 Red Tees Report HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Christmas luncheons were held by the ladies who play bridge and by the entire HWA organization. It was a great time of fellowship! 2018 Officers were announced: President DiAnne Hudman Vice-President Jo Anne Granbery Secretary Susan Millsap Treasurer Rhonda Pruitt The group recognized Joyce Wright for serving as 2017 President and Rhonda Pruitt as Gal of the Year. The next HWA time the whole group will meet again will be the February Membership luncheon. An will be sent out when a date is set. Please remember, anyone who is a member of Hillcrest Golf and Country Club can become a member of the HWA family (both card and golf groups) for just $30 a year. The January meeting is the 9th at 9:30 with golf to follow, weather permitting. Somba and bridge groups play on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. New players are always welcome. Please mark your calendars for the Silver Tees May 6-7, 2018 with practice rounds on the 5th. Plan on joining us for one of the best tournaments in the area. If a member's account is over 30 days past due, the member is assessed a $20 late payment fee. Daily Pro Shop charges will be paid before leaving each day either by cash, check or credit card. If a member's account is over 60 days past due, the membership and all privileges to the club are suspended and the membership is terminated. In some cases, which require approval by management, the former member may reinstate their membership by paying the account in-full, plus monthly dues that have passed in the interim. Otherwise, the member cannot make application to the club for a period of one calendar year from the time that their membership is terminated and only then if the account has been paid in-full. No more waiting list. 2.Only Hillcrest Country Club Members may operate Private Carts 3.A yearly course access fee of $700 paid prior to January 1 st, (fee may be added to December club bill) 4.NO Private Golf Carts will be allowed on the Golf Course unless the Golf Cart is approved by the Golf Professional and meets the following conditions: A.Has a HCC approved permit sticker on the Rear Driver Side Fender. B.The Golf Cart is no more than 10 years old or has been approved by the Golf Professional Staff. (Those who paid the 2017 Private Cart Trail fee may have their cart grandfathered in as long as it is not damaging to the golf course or property) C.The individual driving the golf cart has a valid driver s license and is a member of Hillcrest Country Club D.The golf cart tires must have approved tread patterns. E.The golf cart is electric or has a noise level lower than 61.0 db 5.The yearly fee must be paid in full and an inspection made within 30 days of notification of the expiration date of the permit. 6.The Hillcrest Golf Professional or Golf Course Superintendent staff may revoke all permits at any time. 7.Private Golf Cart owners must check in to the golf shop before beginning play. 8.A trail fee of $9.00/player (tax included) will be charged each time using the golf cart on the golf course. (Trail fee will be for members who have paid the Private Cart Course Access fee only. Guests on the cart will be charged the regular ½ cart fee.) *Current Private Cart Trail Fee participants will be charged on your December Statement the $700 Course access fee. All others please contact Adam Headley, Head Golf Professional to get your course access.

Also, during this time of year the golf course may have some frost in the morning which limits the amount of time we have to play during daylight hours. Please schedule your tee time in advance. Beginning in January the Pro Shop will be operated out of the ladies card room. All ladies card room activities will take place in the board room. During this time we ask that everyone please check in to the golf shop (in the ladies card room) before heading out on the golf course or to the driving range. OCTOBER Cotton Pickin Classic We ask that all golfers please pull up to The Bag Drop upon arriving at the club. This will better help us serve you and get your bag to your golf cart faster and more efficiently. 11 Hello Tennis Players, Happy New Year!! This months article deals with which player should play which court (deuce or ad court) as most of our Hillcrest members play doubles. The majority of good doubles players serve down the middle around 80% of the time. If both you and your partner are right handed, consider putting the stronger backhand service return in the deuce court and the stronger forehand service return in the ad court since most of the serves will be hit "up the T". In addition, it is beneficial if the ad court player has a good overhead as he/she should take most of the overheads. Finally a good combination is to have a "hitter" and a "setter" as teammates. The setter usually plays the deuce court and is content to set up the point. The hitter is usually the risk taker and will try to end the point and it is a good idea to have this player in the ad court.
