The updated scoring area, paired with the upcoming construction of a concession building and tournament office will represent the new scoring hub for PGA Golf Club.

The scoreboard completion was accompanied by a beautification process, which included the implant of several trees and shrubbery lining both the scoring area and the new cart staging pavers.

1 PRIVATE CLUB MATTERS MARCH 2013 GOING GREEN GREENERY BRINGS LIFE TO THE NEW SCOREBOARD AND CART STAGING AREA By Ty Krause, Event Manager This week we saw the completion of the new scoreboard adjacent to the recently renovated Ryder practice green. The updated scoring area, paired with the upcoming construction of a concession building and tournament office will represent the new scoring hub for PGA Golf Club. The old scoreboard will be phased out later this year to make room for the new Centennial Garden that will be located in the current cart staging area. The scoreboard completion was accompanied by a beautification process, which included the implant of several trees and shrubbery lining both the scoring area and the new cart staging pavers. This landscape addition is meant to enhance the visual aesthetics of the new entry way, as well as incorporate natural elements into these new function spaces. The visual element and consideration of green space is a key theme throughout the capital improvements project and will be showcased in various elements of future construction, most notably, the Centennial Garden, which is scheduled to feature a courtyard framed by trees and hedges. 3 PAGE 3 OF 8 GOLF TIP OF THE MONTH FAIRWAY BUNKERS By Jamie Fordyce, PGA The key to hitting good fairway bunker shots is to first assess the difficulty of the lie that the ball is in. If the lie is bad or if you have a huge lip to contend with, play safe and take a wedge to get it back onto the fairway. When you decide the lie is good enough to go for the green, take an extra club to allow for the thin or fat shot that usually occurs on these shots. Don t try to do anything different with your swing for this shot, the only adjustment you need to make for this shot is to move the shaft slightly behind the ball at your setup. The tendency on fairway bunkers shot is to come over the top and pull the shot left of the target. If that happens to you a lot, aim a little right of the target.
