2 Did you know? The Plantation Room hours of operation for food service is 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Beverage service is 5:00pm to 10:00pm. The Plantation Room is an adult only dining room. Members and Guests must be 18 years of age to dine. The Plantation Room is a reservation only dining room. Please call in advance to reserve your table. The Plantation Room is available to members for private events for both lunch and dinner as long as it is not scheduled during the Plantation Rooms regular operating hours Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Call the Club for more details and to reserve your date. The Club is available for private golf outings large or small. Call Glen in the golf shop for details. Members receive one month free dues when they refer a prospective member who joins. Reservations allow the Club to prepare properly and it secures a table for your dining experience. We encourage all members to make a reservation for each dining experience. Reservations in advance will help deter cancellation of specialty events. Proper spacing on the golf course allows enjoyment for all players. Allow the group ahead of you on the first tee to distance themselves before hitting your tee shot. Riding bicycles and walking your pet is not allowed on the Golf Course. Please refrain from this dangerous activity. The golf course is closed on Mondays. Chef Austin is an alumni of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in culinary management. He has worked in various roles in the kitchen from casual to fine dining. Kevin has been with us for a short period of time and has made a huge impact on our operation. Kevin has contributed from day one and has filled a void in the kitchen that Chef Quintin needed to fill. Kevin has a very positive attitude and a great work ethic. August in South West Georgia is a hot time around the course and the grass is really growing; we are mowing the rough 5 days a week. The fairways are only going about two days without being mowed. We are spraying a growth regulator once a month on the fairways and tees. We are keeping up with the deep rough with the zero turns and we are looking forward into the early fall for putting out a fertilizer application and pre-emergent. We have had a lot of trees hit by lighting recently and they will need to come down soon before the pine beetles get into them. One of our irrigation boxes was also struck on number one as well and we have had to replace a fried CPU board inside the box. We are working on the speed of the greens; the smoothness is coming along. We are getting into the routine of double cutting and rolling again, vertical cutting and topdressing are a must right now as this cultural practice helps us to reduce the amount of grain that can develop as well as make them smoother. We have had 4 of rain through the first 15 days of July. 6 The Family Championships October TBD The family championship is always a popular weekend for tennis. Grab a family member or cousin and compete in our weekend tournament. Parents play with children on Saturday. The husband and wife event is on Sunday. Join our Doublegate families and compete against the other families in this friendly tennis format. Dear Doublegate Members, Summer is winding down with June and July behind us. We will have just finished our adult mixed doubles day and the junior team tennis state championships by the time you read this. Tennis, Golf, and Swim Camp was busy for our young children. The last days of July welcomed over 20 kids to our camp. The kids enjoyed playing tennis and golf mixed in with a little swimming and crafts. Our adults also enjoyed playing some competitive mixed doubles. The day also included lunch at the courts. The team tennis state championships have always been a highlight of our Summer season with over 35 kids attending. Our players and parents spent many hours on the courts practicing for the big event. The pictures below were captured on a practice day when they were all out in the heat getting ready for the championships. We hope to see you out on the courts this upcoming Fall. We have an action-packed season of tennis. It is usually one of the busier times of the year. Our ladies can find time to hit the courts between school and afternoon activities. The kids flood the court once the bell rings and school let out. Join us for a great upcoming season of tennis. The matches will be mixed doubles only and run for most of the day. Lunch will be served by Doublegate on the deck at the courts for all players. The match format will be round robin play in the morning with the finals being played after lunch. Fall Academies August - December Academies run from August through late December. Bronze, Silver, & are offered throughout the year for our juniors. Learn the tennis basics in Bronze Academy or continue to advance your game in Silver at the intermediate level. Take the next step to the pro level in our. Learn the sport of a lifetime and get started playing in our weekly practices. Thursday Night Cardio Tennis Every Thursday from 7:30pm-8:30pm This class is year-round now. We only cancel for bad weather and holidays. It is open to all adult and all levels. Get a great cardio workout without realizing you are even exercising. Join us for 1 hour of tennis games, drills, running, music, and fun. Tuesday Morning Ladies Clinic Every Tuesday from 9:30am-11:00am Tuesday mornings the ladies join us for a morning of instruction, point play, and tennis doubles strategy. Brush up on your game in this class to play well in Quads and weekend league play. USTA Junior Sanctioned Tennis Tournament September 22nd & 23rd Join us for the 2nd of our junior sanctioned tennis events. This September Doublegate opens our doors to all local and out of town juniors who would like to compete in a sanctioned tennis event. Doublegate also hosts an outdoor lunch for all players and spectators. The event includes doubles and singles for all players. Fall Quads Thursday Mornings Late August - December Fall Quads is becoming very popular among the ladies. Every Thursday morning at 9:30am the ladies come out for tennis. Over 30 ladies play doubles each Thursday morning throughout the Fall. All levels from beginner to advanced hit the courts for this morning of tennis. Join us this Fall and enjoy playing. Men s Sunday Doubles Every Sunday at 1:30pm Join the men and our staff professional every Sunday for a pleasant afternoon of doubles with our members. The men take turns playing sets or a round robin type format each afternoon. Sometimes our staff professionals join in to make a foursome. The GATEPOST
