2 News from the Club Dear Doublegate Member, Now is the time to join in on all the fun! The Club has signed up 42 new members since January Wow! We need the memberships help to continue this positive trend. Reach out to your neighbor, friend, coworker, family member or church mate and let them know about our wonderful Club and Doublegate family. The financial success of the Club is dependent on new growth. If you refer a potential member and they join you will receive one month free dues. New members can join the Club for as little as $1,500 for one share of stock and initiation fees. Spread the word and help build our membership. 3 News from the Club Attention Male Golfers Male golfers are to use the designated restrooms on the golf course and in the Clubhouse Thank you Employee of the Month May - Sarah Jenkins Sarah Jenkins was selected by her peers as May Employee of the Month. Sarah was recently promoted to Pool Manager and did a nice job opening the pool up for the 2017 season. Sarah also works in our Food and Beverage Department as a server and has really grown in her position over the last six months. One Member stated recently that Sarah is the best server she has had serve her at the Club. Sarah is always smiling and has a very upbeat and positive attitude with members, guests and coworkers. Sarah is a joy to work with and is dedicated to servicing our membership. Congratulations to Sarah! Tapas Night Back by popular demand! 4 News from the Fairways On behalf of the golf staff, we would like to thank all of the participants in the 2017 Member Guest Tournament for allowing the event to be such a great success. Winners : George McDonnell and partner William Thies Runner Up : Michael Johnson and partner Stephen Avant Shots of the Tournament: Rick Langley s partner, Keithen Tucker, made a Hole In One by hitting a 6 iron 166 yards on hole number 2. This was Mr. Tucker s first Hole In One of his career, making his Member Guest experience very memorable. Ron Lee s partner, Michael Jackson, holed out on Hole 10 during the first round of the shootout for an Eagle advancing the pair to the second hole of the shootout. Michael Monahan eagled hole 4 in the last hole of the first round of the shoot out to advance him and his partner, Jason Langer, to the Final 5 Shout Out. William Thies made the winning birdie putt on the 18th hole to secure the victory over Michael Johnson and Stephen Avant in this year s Member Guest. Happy Independence Day! I hope everyone is having a great summer. July will bring the heat and humidity back to South Georgia; it s the perfect growing conditions for the grass here on our course. The end of May and early June were very busy times for the crew; I want to thank them for all their hard work leading up to Member Guest and the aerification of the greens that followed. We have now completed the aerification of the greens and they are doing great. We will also be aerifying the fairways and the tees during July; this process will not disrupt play. We do this to relive compaction of the red clay subsoil and the by-product is a healthy gas exchange in the soil as well. We have planted a few new trees around the course; they will be protectors in the years to come in some ally s that were exposed due to tree loss from the past storms. By now you all have seen the traffic stakes around the course; we put these out to direct the flow of carts from the tee entering the fairway and exiting. This will reduce wear and give us much healthier grass going into the low light months. Thank you for following the procedure. Please sign up for the event in the Pro Shop. July 6th and 7th we host a Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event. The golf course will be open in the afternoon both days. July 13th Taylor Made Fitting 12:30/4:30 by appointment. Make your appointment by calling the Pro Shop July 21st a qualifying tournament will be held for the Georgia Open at Doublegate, tee times will start at 8am. The golf course will be open. July 23rd we will be having practice rounds for the Georgia Women s Golf Championship, we have tee times blocked off for our members between 10:30am and 2pm. Please call the shop to schedule a tee time. July 24th 26th we host the Georgia Women s Golf Championship. The golf course will open following play. News from the Courts Dear Doublegate Members, One month of summer is already over. The tennis courts have been busy with morning academies, camps, and classes.

Tuesday nights the ladies take the court for some doubles round robins. After doubles the Doublegate kitchen prepares a wine and cheese platter for the ladies to relax, socialize, and enjoy.

Our juniors will be traveling all over Georgia and the Southern states playing some of the biggest tournaments offered throughout the year.

The days start with tennis in the morning, swimming to cool off, and more tennis to finish the day. Each day also includes some tennis artwork, snacks, and lots of fun.

Many of our kids have been enjoying playing tennis, swimming, and hanging out at the courts. Later in the evenings the ladies have been enjoying our wine and cheese doubles night. Tennis tournaments for our juniors are also always a big part of summer tennis at Doublegate. Our juniors will be traveling all over Georgia and the Southern states playing some of the biggest tournaments offered throughout the year. We wish them well and hope they have a great couple months of success. Summer tennis and swim camps are always very popular. One week of camp usually leaves the kids loving the game and wanting to play more. Summer is not over!! Join us on the courts and enjoy some great days at Doublegate in the sun. Learn the tennis basics in Bronze Academy or continue to advance your game in Silver at the intermediate level. Take the next step to the pro level in our Gold Academy. Learn the sport of a lifetime and get started playing in our weekly practices. Thursday Night Cardio Tennis Every Thursday at 7:30pm-8:30pm This class is year round now. We only cancel for bad weather and holidays. It is open to all adult and all levels. Get a great cardio workout without realizing you are even exercising. Join us for 1 hour of tennis games, drills, running, music, and fun. Summer Tennis & Swim Camp July 31st - August 4th Join us for a great week of tennis, golf, swimming, crafts, and lots of fun. Kids ages 6 and up are welcome to register for the week. Ladies Night Wine & Cheese Doubles Every Tuesday night at 6:00pm starting June 6th The Ladies Wine and Cheese Night is back!! Sign up weekly for a fun evening of social doubles. Sign up with a partner or ask us to find you one. Enjoy the wine and cheese when tennis is over. Please call the tennis shop for registering. Mixed Doubles 1 Day Tournament August 5th Grab a partner and join us for a full day of mixed doubles. Lunch will be served by the Doublegate kitchen. Divisions for all levels from beginner to advanced will be fielded. The event is for adults only unless juniors would like to play in our advanced division. 1.
