JIM S JOURNAL NOVEMBER 16 TH, 2018 RACE #1 6 HOLY FORT 5 LIDDYUP 2 SCREENWRITER 3 ALICE S WAR TWENTYTWENTYCREST is without current momentum; she tried a marathon October 14 th and did not stay the trip; her last four journeys on turf have resulted in out of the money finishes. SCREENWRITER was close by on turf earlier in the year in this category and ran well last time in an event that came off the grass; the slow nature of the pace was hurtful to her chances last time but she moved on through the stretch to finish third; the runner up was fourth here in a tough event Sunday. ALICE S WAR was in a key race two starts ago and the top two both came back to race well here on Sunday; most recently, she was in a paceless route running from behind which hurt her chances; she finished about two lengths behind, Screenwriter. STOP WHO S THAT had a belated start to the season October 21 st in a sprint and was one paced without threatening against a key winner who has come back to win again; she likes to run long and stretches out here entered for turf at ten furlongs. LIDDYUP was on Tapeta last time and that was a complete letdown performance as she chased hard against slow fractions and faltered; she had run so much better on turf in her previous four races on grass and getting to turf here will be vital to her chances. HOLY FORT is developing nicely under the direction of Kevin Attard; she took a win last time in a race that came off turf and she kept responding; the sixth place finisher has come back to win; she enters for turf but is certainly qualified if this event comes off the grass. TRIPLE CHOCOLATE competed in a race that came off turf last time and she beat non winners of three with a front end move around two turns to persist; she also brings speed when on turf and she is entered for ten furlongs here. RACE #2 6 TWITTER STORM 7 CRUMLIN GAL 2 ZINDIGO 1 SHOWBIZ LADY SHOWBIZ LADY rushed outside with big turn speed to challenge, Twitter Storm, who was up on the pace last time and she was finally second best to that rival who is here. ZINDIGO ran strongly first time out at seven furlongs then shortened in distance October 28 th and was roused inside against, Twitter Storm, and finished third with, Showbiz Lady, in second; she is racing second time off the shelf here with a chance to improve. CLASSY VISION levelled sharply at the end when she was the last one to move October 20 th ; she missed all of the interference in the stretch; she is up in value for this event and has since had a half mile work for Mike Mattine. MO CIO DAONNAN moved to the care of Bill Tharrenos for a win November 7 th and it was expected; she dropped in for $25,000 and added blinkers and was patiently handled by Carignan; she moved quickly at the top of the stretch with a burst and was clear through the lane. PRINCESS BRIE took sharp support when she dropped down last time and came off the shelf; she moved inside for the victory and galloped away in average time; she faces a tougher challenge here. TWITTER STORM has won two of her three races and her only loss came in a tough event against a key winner whom, Crumlin Gal, also faced last time; most recently, she dipped back to her favourite level of $40,000 and at six furlongs she controlled the middle and late pace; she must run farther here. CRUMLIN GAL was best for $25,000 when she debuted and then second time out she got into a key race and was just a length behind, Twitter Storm, when fourth; the winner has already come back to be second in the, Glorious Song, and Twitter Storm, has already come back to win; the blinkers are on. RACE #3 3 ARTISTICO 6 ENTWISTLE 1 NATURE S FORTUNE 2 LAPOCHKA NATURE S FORTUNE is a good galloping type who should enjoy the conditions of this event; in a first allowance race at nine furlongs that came off turf last time he was fifth beaten only two lengths when, Entwistle, was second; he has had interim prepping. LAPOCHKA won on turf October 19 th for his second career score and he did it in flamboyant off the pace fashion winning in the last jump at nine furlongs; that type of form might transfer to this longer distance where he is taking on some multiple winners. ARTISTICO had a fourth career win October 9 th and his third score on turf then opted for a marathon that was beyond his means last time; with that race out of the way Hernandez is brought in and has enjoyed winning form with this one in the past; he now he travels ten furlongs on turf which should be suitable. IN IT TO WIN has competed three times at Presque Isle and took a win there last time in a State bred race despite being blocked in the run through the stretch; he finally found room to salvage the victory for trainer Matthew Kintz; he competes for the same ownership but now goes for Michael Dickinson; he was here for a blowout Tuesday morning in 36.

JIM S JOURNAL NOVEMBER 16 TH, 2018 CANMORE was winning for $20,000 last time against non winners of two and he used a more patient style coming from far off the pace to rally and he was kept to his business in the stretch as the 3-5 favourite; the proposition is tougher here as he faces better and goes farther. ENTWISTLE is without a win this year and in the times that he has been in prime contention he hasn t had enough deep in the stretch; at nine furlongs on Tapeta last time; he moved to the first allowance level; he galloped on ok and finished second narrowly beaten when closers had the better time of it; the distance is reachable for him as he has won beyond this distance in the past. COLEYVILLE is a galloping type who should like the extended distance of this race as he goes up in value seeking his fourth win of the campaign; he scored last time for $20,000 against non winners of three. RACE #4 2 YOU RE BATMAN 14 GREELEY S ARCH 3 CURLIN S KNIGHT 1 YODA MAN YODA MAN missed more than a year then returned in the spring time and was a disappointment for $32,000; he has been absent and has tried to build momentum with works leading to this return which comes for just a fraction of the value; Salles has been named for John Ross. YOU RE BATMAN was out of the money on turf last time for $25,000 after failing to carry his speed once again; he now plunges for $8,000 and goes from turf to Tapeta at seven furlongs. CURLIN S KNIGHT dropped down two starts ago and had speed; second time at the same level last outing he shortened to seven furlongs and stayed on better to be sixth beaten four lengths and the fourth place finisher, Johnny Bayi, has come back to win; he rates attention. HIT MAKER was introduced here October 17 th after opening his career at Presque Isle in October; he started running late in that local race and there is more room available. KYSLIOS S JUSTICE made a bid inside last time to be sixth beaten four lengths when, Gunner Ben, was better in second and that one has already come back to run second and is here. DANNY S RUSH was at Fort Erie August 28 th and landed third and the top two have both come back to win. CANDYCREET dropped in for $10,000 here to run on grass September 21 st and finished an ok third as the favourite; he was also favoured for $8,000 in the slop at Fort Erie last time at 6-5 where another well bet runner in the race beat him back into third; he makes his way back here for the same price. GUNNER BEN was committed to a speed style here October 12 th and he was displaced only late; he used a completely new style last time coming from twelfth to finish second with a nice run in a vastly improved performance for Suzanne Drake. SOUL N SPIRIT had a better performance at seven furlongs two starts ago when on the edges than he did last time when he backed away early from the inside. CEPELINAS showed a touch of interest late on the outside last time and there is more room available. CRIME WAVE was in for $11,500 last time against a key winner under the lights and finished only a couple of lengths out of third spot after he began slowly; he is down in value looking for a rally. CRUZIN CALVIN had an ineffective rally two starts ago and most recently, couldn t keep up against a wake up runner when, Gunner Ben, was much better in second. MIGHT D ARTAGNAN came off the shelf October 21 st and opted for a futile speed fight on the pace and he understandably weakened late in an event where blinkers and lasix were added; he now drops down and shortens in distance for his new conditioner Sylvain Pion. GREELY S ARCH started thirteenth last time but made up some ground for $19,000 on a drop when getting his belated seasonal bow; he looks to move forward second time off the shelf with today s further drop and with blinkers. JE SUIS CHARLIE has lost by wide margins in recent events; he stretches back to seven furlongs. DREAM OF SHANTELLE was in for $7,500 last time and passed a couple of runners without threatening when, Gunner Ben, was second. RACE #5 3 BREAK AND ENTER 4 CHARLES STREET 2 WHITE WEDDING 5 SHOW ME YOUR SPOTS CAMP NARDO broke well last time to assume command but the winner went after him and he relinquished control and slipped back to sixth; blinkers were added for that event; he has come back to work quickly November 1 st in 1.00b with sharp early speed. WHITE WEDDING has been on the edges in back to back races and most recently went long and was duelling for the advantage outside; he finally slipped back to be fourth and now shortens to seven furlongs. BREAK AND ENTER debuted October 13 th and made a good late move advancing to be third against a key winner who has already been second in the Frost King; the seventh place finisher has since won. CHARLES STREET a debut runner back on October 21 st for Renee Kierans was in for $32,000 and came running late to be third; he bumps up to an allowance event for Ontario sire runners and has worked since that opening race; Wilson stays aboard.

JIM S JOURNAL NOVEMBER 16 TH, 2018 SHOW ME YOUR SPOTS started outside and closed nicely but laid in at a crucial stage and finished second narrowly beaten when, Charles Street, was third beaten a long length; he has had an interim prep and now jumps in value. HARMONY HALL woke up second time out when dropped in for $40,000 and sent a route and he stayed close to the pace and was finally fourth beaten a couple of lengths; he now shortens to seven furlongs. HUNGARY rushed up on the pace in his debut in the Frost King at seven furlongs but he was finished by mid stretch; he remains at seven furlongs for this second start which comes in a maiden event. SUITEDCONNECTED debuted October 13 th and was jostled on the backstretch which made him back out of contention and then he showed some interest in the lane against a key winner who has since been second in the Frost King; he has had an interim prep from the gate. STRIKECREST is from a well related dam and is by, Bear s Kid, and goes for Langcrest Farm; he worked November 11 th in 1.02 finishing up ok; Bahen will be the rider here at seven furlongs. STRATEGIC VISION was racing greenly into the first turn November 2 nd and that experience was new for him; he backed away late and now shortens to seven furlongs. RACE #6 2 CONQUER THE SKY 4 BLUE PEARLS 1 MISSY CRISSY 8 THALIAS FIRE MISSY CRISSY ran a bountiful race two starts ago when her speed carried well but she was beaten at the last moment in a peak effort which matched the energy that she showed back in the middle of August; most recently when she went up in value, she was competing over a surface more helpful to closing types and they took the top four prizes while this one faded out of the money; a more neutral surface today would certainly help her cause of recapturing the goodness of her previous event. CONQUER THE SKY went up in value last time and was awkward in the early going when trailing then suddenly made a move to contend between rivals in the stretch and was down along the inside at the end when narrowly in front; the runner up was coming from Presque Isle and the third place finisher was exiting a local win. SING TO RUN was second at Fort Erie for $3,000 in a sprint last time and will be a contributing speed element here along with, Missy Crissy, and Sayyestoxcelence. BLUE PEARLS is certainly one to consider given her three victories this season and her strong come from behind style; she attracted a claim October 6 th for $10,000 when she was fifth beaten only two lengths while, Missy Crissy, was speedier in second; she returns from a layoff and Contreras is brought aboard by Shana Lopez and that is a productive jockey/trainer combo. SAYYESTOXCELENCE likes to go fast in the early furlongs and was traveling at too quick a rate of speed last time and faded gradually when, Conquer The Sky, won it. REBEL LIONESS got first run last time moving to third on the far turn but she couldn t sustain that advance and landed on the edges behind, Conquer The Sky. IMAGE OF LUCY came off the shelf October 7 th in slop at Fort Erie for $4,500 and was well back; she has won here multiple times in the past. THALIAS FIRE was in against a keen front runner last time and made a move four wide from the second flight closing a big gap to be second on the outside; two starts ago she was fourth against, Tallievision, who was third last time against, Conquer The Sky. RACE #7 9 PLACE THE BLAME 5 LA VIE EN ROSE 2 FLOATING RATE 6 REDEAL EESTI STAR came off the shelf October 31 st and nestled in for $20,000 and once again took support; she had her sizey frame in contention early but gradually fell back in that event in a letdown performance; she takes a further drop in value. FLOATING RATE dropped sharply for $11,500 last time at six furlongs and committed to the lead but the winner attacked this one on the pace and displaced her; she was left with third prize while, Place The Blame, was second and that one is here coming from the outside. JULIE S TAP DANCER reportedly had difficulties at the gate in her debut but the visuals had her off her feet at the end; second time out she came roaring from thirteenth to be second narrowly beaten at 75-1 and it was an impressive rally; that race seems to underline her current form; she was forced to scratch back on October 14 th. WUK UP QUEEN was clearly behind in the early going last time and finished sixth without threatening when, La Vie En Rose, was much better in third; the blinkers are off; she did have a prominent run in late September but has not been able to recapture the goodness of that event.

JIM S JOURNAL NOVEMBER 16 TH, 2018 LA VIE EN ROSE dropped down October 27 th and found rivals more to her liking; she moved outside at the quarter pole with every chance and made the lead in the stretch only to be beaten at the end by the winner who relocated to the outside to displace her; another late closer took the place award; she finally finished a tight third; two starts ago she was no match for the runner up, Wuk Up Queen, but that one has since lost momentum. REDEAL was prepping up until September 8 th and then took some time off and returned to her workout regime October 20 th and has since had two works at a half mile and two works at five furlongs getting ready; she is a homebred for Colebrook Farms by, Signature Red, who has had some success this season; her dam was a winning sprinter. SAVOIA got jostled around at the top of the stretch between rivals last time and the rider lost a stirrup and she understandably faltered in the lane for $23,500; she had gone too quickly the early part of it on turf; this will be her first try on Tapeta and she halves in value. HOW D YOU KNOW debuted October 31 st and the top two were well separated and this one came from behind and finished a distant fourth; she takes a double level drop and Mosqueira stays aboard. PLACE THE BLAME is a logical one to consider; she attracted a claim when dropped down and now goes for Jim Ensom; she comes right back at the same evaluation as last time when she made a perfect run at even money and took the place award. RACE #8 4 JOHNNY BEAR 1 AVIE S MESA 6 PUMPKIN RUMBLE 7 ENGLISH ILLUSION AVIE S MESA has had some peak periods in his career and reached one of those plateaus August 18 th with a win at a mile and a quarter with a demonstrative stretch kick; he next went to the Durham where he was asked three furlongs from home to keep up with the best ones and he was finally fourth beaten five lengths in a good try; he has been freshened ahead of this event getting ready to travel thirteen furlongs and he has worked regularly for Josie Carroll including a move November 9 th in out in DRUMCLIFF has been out of the money in consecutive events and was no match on turf last time for Ethical Funds; he has been getting ready for this event following time off with a good work November 9 th in 1.16 with some stamina with Wilson aboard; the blinkers are off. ETHICAL FUNDS tried the Valedictory Stakes last season and finished third; most recently in the Bunty Lawless he could not handle the yielding footing; he now goes to Tapeta. JOHNNY BEAR is a two time Grade 1 winner carrying just 119 lbs. today and he moves from a series of turf races over to Tapeta; he ran strongly in the Northern Dancer to win on the inside and most recently in the Grade 1 Canadian International he was within range late and finally finished seventh; he tried a marathon on Tapeta last November but was coming off a bad race at that time; his form is much better now. BLACK SEA is without a win this year after eight trips and he was on turf last time at a mile where he was traveling ok late when only three lengths back; he had a good work November 7 th in PUMPKIN RUMBLE was in the Valedictory last year and finished fifth beaten only four lengths and had been in this very prep last year when he was second beaten a neck by, English Illusion, and he did keep, Ethical Funds, behind him; he comes off a victory on Tapeta when returning from a freshening in preparation to get ready for the long distance season. ENGLISH ILLUSION won this prep race last year then failed in the Valedictory; he had won in the Halton this year and also had a good effort in the Northern Dancer when third; he exits a ninth place finish in the Grade 1 Canadian International. BANGKOK a notable long distance performer was fourth in the Valedictory last season; he hasn t got untracked yet this year but has been freshened in anticipation of these final marathons of the year and he did work well recently. ESKIMINZIN was in the Overskate at seven furlongs last time where he was reserved close to the pace then he got in tight and retreated; he goes from a sprint to a thirteen furlong race. SEEKING ALBERT is a big galloping type who has yet to win this year and after a wide loss in the Northern Dancer he went to Keeneland last time where he had to overcome some trouble at the start; he has tried running on a synthetic surface only once and that was in the spring of 2017 when he was well back.

JIM S JOURNAL NOVEMBER 16 TH, 2018 RACE #9 8 AMEN ALLEY - BEST BET 7 ROCK N CANDY 6 WHERE S ANTHONY 2 LEO FROM HEAVEN LEO THE RABBIT was asked to move three furlongs from home last time for $9,500 against non winners of three but hung; he goes for twice the price now. LEO FROM HEAVEN dropped down two starts ago to run close up on turf in a gallant performance; most recently, he went back up in value where he had the rider off pre race but he stayed on quite well and the runner up has come back with a booming victory; he gets down with more reachable runners for $20,000 and now goes from turf to Tapeta. MAJESTIC FEVER has landed on the edges in consecutive races in this category with good pursuing trips and was just in behind the pair of, Where s Anthony, and Rock N Candy, last time; more room is added here. JOE CLOCKER buckled down once he got around the corner last time and with blinkers added he went after the front ones and got up in time for his second win in his last five trips; he now faces non winners of three and encounters a tougher type here. DISTINCT PASSION attracted a claim when dropped down September 30 th and for John Cardella last time he won big at five furlongs for $10,000 under a vigorous ride over five furlongs; the challenge is different here as he goes for twice the price and with a furlong and a half added. WHERE S ANTHONY was going first time off the claim for Steven Chircop October 26 th and had a very good kick on the outside to be second against a well liked winner and, Rock N Candy, was third; there is an extra half furlong available here. ROCK N CANDY took the drop for $19,000 last time but unfortunately he got pinned in by the top two and had to wait for room; when he got space the winner had already opened up and, Where s Anthony, was closing and he got just in behind the runner up to take third money; he has had interim prepping for Norm McKnight. AMEN ALLEY found his best stride when he moved from an out of the money finish on turf to go to Tapeta for a win for $20,000 against non winners of two; he probably bounced off that performance when he was protected last time and his mate finished second while he took fourth money; he is back down to the level of his previous win. RACE #10 1 GIANT MINE 5 LEOPARD CAT 6 DHANI 8 HYTHE 7 DANCING WITH ZORRO GIANT MINE is a logical one to do well here; he dropped to this price range last time and was reserved in last then moved from the back into first place while the pace was quite strong for the classification, yet, the winner came to the outside of him at the last moment to take it away. RED SEPTEMBER has been sprinting both here and at Fort Erie on turf, dirt and Tapeta with a series of good shares; he was out of the money here at seven furlongs last time and now goes long in search of a breakthrough win. POINT OF ORDER had a smart win at seven furlongs two starts ago when he was reserved in behind runners then moved outside for a prompt rally; most recently, he couldn t quicken when moved to the $10,000 mark; he now comes down for $6,250. DIAMONDS AND ROSES was poised just off the pace last time but gradually faded at a route at this price range. LEOPARD CAT took the big drop for $9,500 off the shelf two starts ago and rallied to be an ok fifth; he has since been in a turf marathon where he passed some runners; he should be able to provide a deep rally against this group with the drop for $6,000. DHANI had the bias against him when running on the lead last time for $6,250 but he stayed on to be third and was quite willing through the stretch; he lines up alongside, Dancing With Zorro, who also prefers a speed style. DANCING WITH ZORRO captured the lead and wouldn t let it go through the stretch two starts ago for $11,500; most recently for $10,000 against non winners of two he was considered a rank outsider in a difficult event from which the third place finisher has gone to the $19,000 level to win; following that double digit loss he comes down in value; he has been prepping towards a return. HYTHE was in against the runner up, Giant Mine, last time and closed well from three wide in the second flight to get third money when the late pace was good; Wilson rides. WONNESTRUT competed late on a Wednesday evening when closers were doing the best and he came from next to last at the top of the stretch to get his first victory in twenty four starts; he looks to make it two in a row. OX TROT was in a tough race last time against the runner up, Giant Mine, and he attended the pace and made his bid inside but was finally fifth of ten. GOLD BACKED faced the runner up, Giant Mine, last time and was close in the middle stages but then lost in double digits. DYNAMITE KID offered an early challenge two starts ago but when he dropped down last time he lacked any positioning and was finally sixth with, Dhani, in third. KISSOFFIRE moved outside last time for $6,000 at seven furlongs; he now goes from a sprint to a route. SIGNATURE TWIRL was moving very late on the outside last time to be fourth with, Dhani, in third and the blinkers are now on. PRISON PADRE made an inside move last time but couldn t keep up through the stretch when the pace was strong and, Giant Mine, was better in second. DUNDURN opted for a speed style over a surface helpful to closing types last time and he retreated in fourth with, Hythe, in third.
