JIM S JOURNAL JULY 7 TH, 2018 RACE #1 1 SOUPER HOT 6 CHARLIE S GAME 2 BANANA RAMA 5 ROMAN NOMEN SOUPER HOT is one of two in the race by, Souper Speedy, who was a significant sprinter; he will debut here for Mike Mattine and travel five furlongs from the rail with Husbands aboard with blinkers and lasix; Husbands was aboard for his June 23 rd work in BANANA RAMA a second representative here for, Souper Speedy, is one of two in the race competing for Bill Tharrenos; she is a filly taking on the boys and has worked five furlongs in consecutive trials. WHITE WEDDING a debut runner for Dave Bell is by, Old Forester, and looks to be a rallying type who debuts here at just five furlongs with Slade Callaghan aboard. SANDRETTI a debut runner, is from a dam who was an eleven time sprint winner who produced the stakes winner, Jurojin; he goes for Harold Ladouceur and worked in company June 23 rd in 49.1 getting ready. ROMAN NOMEN a homebred for C. Scott Abbott Racing Stable is by, Silent Name, and will try five furlongs at first asking for Mike Doyle; he has worked five furlongs in a series of trials getting ready. CHARLIE S GAME debuted June 3 rd and was eliminated in the first jump when outside runners came in on him; for this second start he has had interim prepping at five furlongs including some action from the gate. KRPAN a debut runner for Keith Edwards is bred for speed by, Signature Red, and is from the same dam who produced the local winner, Scatter The Silver; Christopher Husbands rides. PEACE CONTROL a second representative here for Bill Tharrenos is a homebred for Heste Sport Inc. and is by Kentucky Bear, and had Sutherland aboard for a recent five furlong work getting ready; she is a filly taking on the boys. RACE #2 4 VEIL 1 LUVUTOTHEMOONNBACK 8 DOUBLE LATTE 5 CLEVER SHOT LUVUTOTHEMOONNBACK has had two strong finishes in his last pair and both times has been in tight finishes; she rallied between rivals two starts ago to miss narrowly; most recently, she was ridden to the lead and used on the turn but hung late; she is a main contender. CREATE AN EDGE a homebred for Brereton C. Jones, is from a dam who was an important juvenile stakes winner; she will debut here at six furlongs; she had a rally in a work June 16 th in b for Keith Edwards. ALNILAH went to the turf for the second time in a row and tried rating tactics last time but stalled; she has since had a quick work and perhaps will try more of a speed style here. VEIL ended up competing on a day when closers had the edge June 1 st and her outstanding speed was wasted as she was taken down late by a winner in from Churchill Downs; she has been given time off and Da Silva was aboard for a recent work in 47.2 for Catherine Day-Phillips. CLEVER SHOT a debut runner for Mike De Paulo is by, Trappe Shot, a Grade 2 sprint winner; she had her fastest work June 30 th in 59.3 getting ready and Contreras rides. ISLE OF MAY a debut runner for Anthony Pottinger is a daughter of, Old Forester, and travels six furlongs at first asking after a recent gate work; Alderson rides and he has had some positive recent results. FLOATING RATE a debut runner for Julia Carey is by, Exchange Rate, and from a dam who won a minor stake and has produced three stakes winners; she had speed in a work July 2 nd in 48.3 getting ready with the opening quarter in DOUBLE LATTE a debut runner for Mike De Paulo will have Sutherland aboard in this launch; she has worked on three surfaces getting ready with the majority of her preps coming on the training track but she has also been to Tapeta for a gate work and most recently, worked in 59.2 on the turf. RACE #3 8 JOSEPHINE - BEST BET 4 LADY WITH CLASS 6 ELIZA JANE 1 EASY BID EASY BID looked capable but has not been able to execute in her last couple of races on turf; in her most recent start she drafted in traffic and then lost her path and finished sixth beaten four lengths. WEE MISS DOROTHY had a couple of spring starts including a speed try June 6 th but backed away against a key winner; she halves in value and goes to turf. DATING SOPHIE has tried the turf many times and without a share to date; she begins this campaign at an elevated level at six and a half furlongs on turf. LADY WITH CLASS is a logical one to improve second time out this season; she was in a race in her seasonal bow where the winner was dropping down taking a big edge and she was beaten only six lengths; in this more logical spot with a subsequent double drop Hernandez moves in; she has had an interim work on turf for Sid Attard. IT S GRACE is by, Artie Schiller, and entered for turf June 1 st but had no thrust in that event despite some fast earlier works on grass; she now runs for half the price. ELIZA JANE is one of three members of the race by, Artie Schiller, a distinct turf influence and she debuted on the lawn last October with some middle pace prominence; she has been outrun in both Tapeta races this year and now comes up tagged for the first time and goes to turf. REGIFTABLE a debut runner for Julia Samulak is bred for turf on the top and is from a dam who is a half sister to Lexie Lou; she worked on the turf back on June 16 th getting ready for this debut. JOSEPHINE seems to like the turf best; her strong performance on grass as a two year old came in a six furlong race when she was third; she was second most recently when getting a return trip to turf while dropped for $16,000; she remains at the same price and has a half furlong farther with which to work which is positive. WOODEN WALLET a debut runner for Reade Baker is by, Langfuhr, a distinct source for turf; she is asked to try six and a half furlongs on the lawn from the outside with apprentice Kimura; she has been prepping on the training track getting ready.

JIM S JOURNAL JULY 7 TH, 2018 RACE #4 6 APATOW 10 ALJAMRY 9 MIGHTY ZEUS 4 HESSENFIELD BOB W. was off his feet and beaten by a wide margin June 1 st ; he returns as a gelding with the blinkers off for this start; he does show a work in late June. AMI S ARTIE was in for $10,000 when coming back home June 16 th and he had speed but did not get around the corner smoothly and retreated in the lane. SILENT DANCE was out of the money on turf last time after a good speed push; he drops down and goes to Tapeta. HESSENFIELD took a drop for $25,000 last time and got a nibbling of support but was seventh beaten ten lengths; he now goes for just $8,000 with Lermyte aboard after a one race absence. ROCKCITYMOONSHINE lost by wide margins in both races last year as a two year old when he was facing some tough foes; he runs for just $7,500 in this return for Saul McHugh. APATOW was claimed March 24 th at Gulfstream for $20,000 and after a fading try on turf there he now competes here for just $8,000 on Tapeta for Michael Maker. SILENT EDGE debuted June 3 rd and came around runners in contention but then struggled late and finished next to last. MAJOR GORDON had a couple of ok fringe tries before going into a protected race last time where nothing was expected and he lost in double digits; he now comes back to the price range of his previous good race. MIGHTY ZEUS took a big plunge for just $10,000 last time and rushed to the lead but was beaten by a closer who has already come back with a poor performance; he goes down one more level. ALJAMRY started for the first time June 20 th and had a nibbling of support but got in against a key winner who was debuting and was only third; he stretches to six furlongs for this second start and has had an interim work for Jim Ensom. RACE #5 5 AULT 10 RUN TO THE BANK 7 ADMIRALS COVE 4 STRUT N STOMP CITO was in a key race June 10 th when raised in value and not much was expected and he finished next to last; he now takes the big drop and moves to turf a footing he has tried infrequently in his career. HAMPSTEAD HEATH put in some fast works here getting ready for a race at Fort Erie to open his season June 17 th ; he was overwhelmed there by a 3-5 repeating winner and he finished fourth and was claimed by Joey Gee Thoroughbreds; he is here to compete for Jim Ensom. CRUSHIN HARD advanced on the turn into contention last time but couldn t continue; he is up in value for a chance to run on grass here. STRUT N STOMP has been out of the money on turf in two races since returning here but now gets to take the big drop after competing in a key race last time against a tough winner here from New Orleans. AULT had some success here last summer; he has had two races since coming home from Florida and his latest for $30,000 on turf was better and points to progress. SPANISH RIVER competes for Frank Huarte who last week won big on turf with, Spanish Express; this one was departing turf at Fort Erie to win on Tapeta here for $7,500 last time ADMIRALS COVE has unknown status; he likes the turf and won big on the grass in April at Tampa then scored on Tapeta at Presque Isle in May; most recently there, he had a wide an ineffective trip when put up in value but now he drops sharply for Robert Johnston who has hired apprentice Kimura for this run on grass. FOREST BROTHER can be a factor mostly in off the pace sprints on turf where he was close by two starts ago; he raced well in an event that came off turf last time; he must now stretch out to a route. MACHO BREW was going first time off the claim June 24 th and opted to sharpen up in a sprint and now goes long on turf. RUN TO THE BANK closed inside June 15 th on turf over a surface far more helpful to speed types in lane five and he angled out late and almost caught the winner; he deserves another chance. BIG BAZINGA dropped all the way down to the $12,500 mark for a June 10 th seasonal bow and seemingly won an early pace battle but eventually lost to his pace opponent who came back and beat him into fifth spot.

JIM S JOURNAL JULY 7 TH, 2018 RACE #6 9 FRANKOFALLTRADES 2 AUGUSTO B 6 CRUMLIN NIGHT 4 FIERY BEAR FINE GRIT has run two good races this season with runner up finishes in both tries; he looked like he had a chance to win last time but simply didn t get there in time and settled for second against a speed winner; he lengthens out to seven furlongs. AUGUSTO B has been in the money trending all the way back to last September and that encompasses an eight race streak; he was second best last time at a route against a winner who had a complete reversal of form for the top stable; he now shortens to seven furlongs. OX TROT attracted a claim in April at Tampa when dropped sharply by his previous interests but he was only a distant fourth when he was acquired; trainer Mike Wright has posted good stats at this meeting and brings him back to the races following the layoff and the transfer. FIERY BEAR had a good race for $19,000 on turf in his second start of the year with a wake up when third; he closed too late last time and now reverts to Kimura with a sharp drop for $9,500 and a switch to Tapeta. EPILOGUE looked good winning for maiden $7,500 two starts ago but he stepped up last time and stretched to a route and hung when, Augusto B, was second. CRUMLIN NIGHT is a runner of unknown status; he has been out of the money twice in a row on turf but now gets to drop sharply and he moves to Tapeta with the blinkers on which is an good angle for this stable. D S DOUBLE EAGLE sagged out of contention on turf last time and now drops down and goes to Tapeta after an interim pair of works. ICEBERG ALLEY raced inside chasing the pace when dropped down last time but he faded in the stretch. FRANKOFALLTRADES dropped for $10,000 last time at six furlongs and closed between runners to steal second at the end against a front running winner; he now goes farther. SEVENCOMINGOUT advanced between runners last time as if he would have an impact and he was finally fourth beaten three lengths with, Fine Grit, second and Hernandez stays aboard. RACE #7 5 SALUTE WITH HONOR 8 OCCASIONAL VIEW 4 GO BRO 7 KITTEN S CAT THOR S ROCKET raced a mile on turf last time and was fourth beaten two lengths and the winner has come back with a good race; he shortens to seven furlongs. COLTON S CORNER raced well at seven furlongs in a first allowance race last October when second and subsequently won going farther than this on turf; this will be his seasonal bow for Sid Attard and he has been busy with works on turf, Tapeta and the training track. SWEET LITTLE MAN has now won three in a row; he found a niche spot June 10 th on turf and he found an opening just in time to squirt through and win it; he is a three time winner on turf and now goes farther against better. GO BRO is certainly one to be considered even though he hasn t run in over a year; his last effort came in the Grade 2 King Edward which he won at a mile running close to the lead; the stable has heated up lately for Mike Keogh. SALUTE WITH HONOR is one to consider; he has run some big races at intervals; he won here May 27 th on Tapeta when strong in the stretch and now goes to turf a footing he has tried only once before. BRASS COMPASS won big here last November on Tapeta; he was on turf at Gulfstream in December when he ran strongly on the edges and that type of race could serve him well here off the shelf for Reade Baker. KITTEN S CAT competed here May 21 st for Mike Maker and moved late outside and was second narrowly beaten at six and a half furlongs on turf; he now runs farther on turf; with Garcia aboard, Thor s Rocket, Hernandez moves in here; he has trained up to this event. OCCASIONAL VIEW is a tough off the pace foe on turf and is a six time winner on the lawn; he was in the Achievement Stakes against Pink Lloyd, last time which proved too daunting; he now he goes seven furlongs on Tapeta gaining entry running for the claiming portion. SILENT FLASH had a good race on turf last time catching the speed of the front runner who was second; the third place finisher has come back to win on turf.

JIM S JOURNAL JULY 7 TH, 2018 RACE #8 4 TIZ BREATHTAKING 1 MY GAL BETTY 7 ENTIRELY 6 SAV MY GAL BETTY was faultless in her debut May 20 th ; she was used chasing the leader and took that one down to get control and widened in the stretch; the runner up has already come back to win big; she came back with her major work June 21 st in 59.4 with Hernandez aboard out in with a rally for Roger Attfield. SUBSIDIARY was able to win first time out for Mark Casse and the third place finisher also from the Casse stable has come back to win with a radically better performance; this one is tall and attractive and the extra distance should be suitable. QUESTIONOFTHEDAY scored May 28 th at first asking in the mud at Pimlico for Michael Trombetta; she was clear at the end; she is a daughter of, The Factor, a two time Grade 1 winner. TIZ BREATHTAKING had a sharp winning debut at four and a half furlongs; she came three wide and was strong from the furlong marker home to be two lengths the best under Contreras for Mike Doyle; she is a homebred for Bill Graham; she came back to work with a rally in 59.1 out in with Contreras aboard. GOLDEN GARTER has been in the money in both starts but has given away the advantage deep in the stretch on both occasions; she was second best behind, Tiz Breathtaking last time; she has been prepping on the training track. SAV is a half sister to, Cooler Mike, who was third in the Queen s Plate; she beat the boys when she debuted June 3 rd and she galloped away from that group at long odds; she had an ok work July 2 nd in 48.2 getting ready for Steve Duffield and trainer Keith Edwards. ENTIRELY ran well at Gulfstream June 1 st at five furlongs on turf for Augustin Stable; she broke behind in tenth then rushed four wide on the bend to draw off; she is by the same sire as, My Gal Betty, the multiple Grade 1 turf star, Point Of Entry; she now comes to Tapeta for trainer Jonathan Thomas. STIFLING debuted at four and a half furlongs here June 16 th at enormous odds and acted up behind the gate which was reason enough to eliminate her; she seemed to be without purpose at the top of the stretch but got her big frame rolling when moved to the rail by Pablo Morales; she almost won it with a late move while skimming the fence for John Bourke; there is a furlong added here but she comes from the outside. RACE #9 7 IT S FATE 1 WOODBRIDGE 2 RANSACK 4 DRUMCLIFF WOODBRIDGE is a contender here; he lacked some room at a vital stage last time when third beaten a long length and now there is more room available; Moran rides once again for Mike Keogh; he is looking for a breakthrough win as his only score came during his juvenile campaign. RANSACK was strong for $32,000 last time at a route on turf as he hogged the lead and stayed determinedly; he was competing earlier in the year in New Orleans and has had three races since being transferred to the stable of Sid Attard. FOLLOW MY LEAD has had two runs this season including a stretch out to a route last time where he ran a strong race with a significant rally behind a winner who was dominant with his late power; he came back to work June 29 th with a good late response in DRUMCLIFF was mired inside last time in the Steady Growth when facing the difficult, Mr Havercamp, and was finally seventh beaten eleven lengths; with Moran aboard, Woodbridge, Hernandez takes over here with the shift to grass and a chance for improvement. WHO S GOT IT tracked significantly last time but was out finished in the stretch and, Woodbridge, was better in third. SEATTLE AFFAIR has had a comeback race and was quiet early then moved up late in fourth against a key winner who has already come back to win and the third place finisher, Vanish, has already come back to beat some of these. IT S FATE is a three year old with potential on turf; a seasonal bow May 20 th came on Tapeta at a route but now he gets to his favourite footing and figures to supply a strong stretch kick for Sam-Son Farm and trainer Malcolm Pierce. BEALESTREET DANCER was introduced here June 9 th and received a smart winning ride by Chantal Sutherland to score a second lifetime win with a three wide move on the outside; he came back with a fast work in 59.3 hustling through the stretch. MICK THE CONQUEROR has been out of the money in both races this season and now goes farther on turf.

JIM S JOURNAL JULY 7 TH, 2018 RACE #10 8 BOLDNPOSSIBLE 1 MAGIC SKYS 9 FLAMENCO DANCER 2 LOVIN SPOON PHIL MAGIC SKYS has been in the money in consecutive events at routes; she dropped to this level last time and made a move inside in contention at the top of the stretch and stayed on to be second behind a rank outsider who set a slow pace to win in front. LOVIN SPOON PHIL took a big enough drop June 20 th to be the 3-5 favourite for $10,000 at a route; however, she came out of the gate near the back then moved up as if she would be a winner but she hung finishing a half length behind the runner up, Magic Skys; she faces some of the same rivals. MISSY CRISSY has faded out of the money in both starts this season against superior opponents; she now dives down for $10,000 and that should give her an opportunity to run on the pace here a style she used quite well last November when also employing the drop down angle to win a race; Boldnpossible also has speed. TORNADO CAT had the elements fall in place for her longshot win June 9 th as apprentice Kimura planted her on the rail and she got through at ever juncture to win at 70-1 for Shelley Fitzgerald when facing non winners of two; she now stretches out. CLASSY SCARLETT attended a slow pace and moved closest to the winner in the middle stages but was rebuffed and finished fourth with, Magic Skys, in second. ZDENKA was handcuffed by the slow pace of the front running winner last time and was a non threatening sixth. BLUE PEARLS couldn t handle longshot, Tornado Cat, two starts ago and so used the drop down angle to win a race last time. BOLDNPOSSIBLE was able to win for $10,000 in her seasonal bow where she was perfect at event money; most recently, she went up in value where she was completely overwhelmed because the winner was taking such a radical drop; with the stretch to a route she is likely to be up on the pace and that is a style, Missy Crissy, also uses. FLAMENCO DANCER was ineffective during her opening three races on Tapeta then went to turf last time and had a much improved performance in third against a key top pair; she tries the quick comeback for Frank Huarte with a drop in value and a move back to Tapeta. RACE #11 1 PICTURES OF YOU 10 LA VIE EN ROSE 2 CELTIC SINGER 3 DANTE S BLU GRASS 4 SOEXOTIC PICTURES OF YOU debuted May 27 th and had an ok performance in a key race finishing just five lengths back when traveling six furlongs on Tapeta; the runner up has come back to win and has since been stakes placed and the fourth place finisher has come back to win as has the seventh place finisher; she drops for $40,000 and extends to a route on turf and is bred to be a stayer. CELTIC SINGER had an improved race when sent to turf to be a tight third last time; she was perfectly positioned and responded generously as the favourite but missed by less than a length; Callaghan takes over with the move out in distance. DANTE S BLU GRASS is capable of waking up here; she is well pedigreed and getting just her second start of the year with this stretch out and transferred to grass for $40,000. SOEXOTIC debuted June 9 th sprinting on Tapeta and showed some life right at the end suggesting more room would help; she is from a turf family and goes to the lawn. ALKELINE debuted on turf at six furlongs for just $32,000 and ran on to get the show award against the strong running winner; for this second start lasix and blinkers are added and she has had interim prepping in company. IRISH TEARDROP tried turf two starts ago and wasn t far behind in a key race; she had run well on turf last October; she exits a key race and moves to a route on the lawn. LYLA D had a chance to run frequently on turf last year but was shareless; she began this season on turf at a mile and ran adequately to be just in behind, Celtic Singer, despite drifting in the stretch when closing up. ATIYA a debut runner for Kevin Attard is by a Belmont stakes winner and so extra distance is offered; she will debut here on the turf; she has been prepared on the training track. HAPPYCREST camped in behind runners on turf last time and then moved forward late when fifth of ten; she is bred to be a stayer and now gets to go long on grass. LA VIE EN ROSE has been popular at times with the public and last time at seven furlongs on Tapeta she ran fourth while getting some support despite an awkward journey; she has had an interim prep and now goes long; she sees turf for the second time. GLORAFLY ME debuted June 16 th on turf at six furlongs and was out of the money; she has had an opportunity to sharpen from the gate in the interim. AWESOMEENDSWITHME showed a touch of interest late on the outside in her seasonal bow for $25,000; she now goes long on the turf with a jump in value.
