8 Maynardville Outing On Tuesday evening, 57 Bridge House students embarked to enjoy a star-lit production of Shakespeare s Othello at Maynardville. We were all captivated by the tragic story which was masterfully performed. Many thanks to Ms Bold who arranged the outing which is sure to have enhanced the students understanding and appreciation of the Bard s work. Mr Shaun Kirk
9 Thinking Hats For the Grade 8 first oral project this year, they had to create a Thinking Hat which embodied a story about themselves. They then told this story to the class. There was a lot of humour and some fascinating details were shared.
10 Perfect for watching sport in the hot sun! There are only a few Bridge House beach umbrellas left. They cost R250 each. Please contact Janet Johnson on PA@bridgehouse.org.za if you would like to buy one.
11 Sports Update Hockey Girls 1 st team vs Paarl Girls High School in Paarl GHS Summer League lost 0-5 Cricket Boys 1 st team vs Paul Roos Gymnasium lost Tennis We would like to wish Janie de Lange all the best for the Boland Tennis trials which take place in Stellenbosch on Friday 30 January and Saturday 31 January. Outside School Sport Rescue Diver Well done, Wesley Derrick (left), who completed a demanding rescue diver scuba course recently. Action Netball Congratulations to Ella van Niekerk who has been selected to represent the Boland U21 Action Netball team at the annual Inter-Provincial Tournament in Brackenfell from 27 April to 2 May 2015 Archery On Sunday 11 January, Scott Jacobs participated in the Western Cape Archery Federation Bellville Sunrise tournament in the Compound bow for Boys U15 category. The tournament consisted of two consecutive competitions with 72 scoring arrows being shot from a distance of 40 meters over a 2.5 hour period for each competition. During the 5-hour tournament, Scott achieved a provincial qualifying score and a provincial record in the first competition and then went on to better his own score by shooting a national qualifying score and a second provincial record during the second competition. Shooting so many arrows over such a long period during the Double 720 Competition requires a lot of focus and stamina. Well done, Scott In preparation for the National Archery Championships that will be held at the Marks Park Sports Complex in Johannesburg, Scott will participate in a Western Cape Archery tournament on 7 and 8 February. This will be the final competition before the Nationals.
