MACKENZIE A&P SHOW 2 APRIL 2018 CATALOGUE OF ENTRIES PREVIEW LEMACON SHEEP Entry Fee: $2.00 Members, $3.00 Non Members Prize Money: First $5.00, Second $4.00, Third $3.00 Sheep to be penned by 9.30am judging to start at 10.00am All prize money to be collected from Convenor from 4.00pm BRUCELLOSIS REGULATIONS Rams from Brucellosis accredited free flocks will be accepted for entry. A copy of certificate must accompany entry form. However, for those unable to meet these conditions, a blood test certificate will be accepted for the 2018 show. Evidence of this blood test must be shown to the Marshall's before stock is unloaded. GENERAL INFORMATION Sheep in flock classes must comply with the following: 1. That the sheep are shorn evenly and close to the skin. 2. That the wool has not been trimmed in any way since, except crutching and dagging. 3. That there has not been any colouring, oiling or locking except dipping. 4. That the sheep have not been housed, rugged or covered in any way for more than 48 hours before judging. Sheep will be inspected in regard to natural conditions. 5. That all mutton breed sheep be shorn on or after 1 September.The public are requested to keep out of pens and alleyways whilst judging is in progress. Exhibitors only will be allowed in during judging. Any animal found to be unsound shall be removed from the grounds. Only registered sheep are eligible for purebred section. The public are requested to keep out of pens and alleyways whilst judging is in progress. MERINO All male Merinos will be judged in sheep ring. In the Merino section the onus of classification to be on the Exhibitor. For the guidance of exhibitors, the usually recognized standards for Merino wool are: Fine Finer than 18.9 microns Medium Stronger than 19 microns and over. Breeders to supply own sheep holders. Open to Mackenzie - Waitaki Stud breeders Matching Pair: 1 1-Shear Ram, 1 1-Shear Ewe, any combing PENNED IN ORDER OF EXHIBITOR. CUPS / AWARDS The Mackenzie County A & P Society award Supreme Champion Tartan Scarf to the Supreme Champion Sheep in the Wool and Mutton Breed. A Champion Tartan Scarf and Champion Ticket are given to Supreme Champion in each breed Class. Reserve Champion tickets also awarded. Entries close 23 February Any late entries will be charged a late entry fee of $10/entry form. No entries will be accepted on the day. There may be a special Jumping Class(es). Details will be available at the Equestrian Caravan on the day. Entries on the day will be accepted for this class (es) at the Equestrian Caravan as long as they are made before 11:00 a.m. and paid in full at the time of entry. All competitors must wear numbers, one per combination. Your number will be made available on the day of the show. Number holders are allowed. Back numbers will be available for hire from the Equestrian Caravan ($2 refundable deposit required). The Equestrian Section is run under the Royal Agricultural Society Equestrian Competitors, Exhibitors and Judges Rules. This Rulebook is available from the RAS website ( RIGHTS OF THE EQUESTRIAN CONVENOR: The Equestrian Convenor, in consultation with Section Convenors, reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry without giving any reason for doing so and reserves the right to make any alteration to the Show Timetable or withdraw any event as may be deemed desirable. If there are insufficient entries in a class, at close of entries, classes may be combined. Any unruly or dangerous animal, or exhibit, may be required to leave the Showgrounds. In the event of an entered horse or pony becoming unsound prior to the show, a substitute may be entered in the SAME CLASS, RIDDEN BY THE SAME RIDER, provided a vet certificate is produced for the original entry. The Secretary is to be notified prior to the show. A Novice is a Horse / Pony that has not had 6 (six) wins in conformation classes at the day of the show. (Paced & Mannered wins do not count in conformation classes and conformation classes do not count in Paced & Mannered classes.) Novice Ponies are to be shown in snaffle bit only. Please note that a record of wins will be asked for. All Novice Pony Classes are open to riders of any age (refer to Equestrian Rulebook MSS 2.1c No rider to compete in two age groups. Rider/Handler's age and eligibility is determined as per the 1 August i.e. Riders/handlers who are of age for any division/section on the 1 August complete the show year/season in that division/section. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show/Event and that testing of all animals is at the person responsible s risk. Forbidden Substance - Any substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central or peripheral nervous system or the cardio-vascular, respiratory, alimentary, digestive, muscoskeletal or urogenital systems. iii. Arrears -No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions, or any other Show/Event charge is eligible to compete at any affiliated Show/Event. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction is lifted. iv. Summary of RAS Resolution Process the full process can be found on the RAS website The principle behind the process is to deal with the matter as it comes to hand and in most cases it should be dealt with directly by the show.

14 If the matter is in regards to an RAS official, the show may request the assistance of RAS Head Office as to how to deal with this in an appropriate manner. RAS Horse/Pony Certificate MUST be carried and number clearly stated on Entry Form. Online entries must enter the number or a photocopy to the Secretary (mackenzieapsociety@gmail.com). Failure to do so will result in elimination. Please refer to Equestrian Rulebook CDE1. THERE WILL BE NO MEASURING ON SHOW DAY. PLEASE CONTACT RAS or see for a list of measuring stands/dates/contact phone numbers. Alternately, contact Southern Canterbury A&P Assn Judith Johnson phone (03) to arrange measurement. STALLIONS: The Secretary MUST be informed on the entry form that a stallion is being entered. Online entries must the Secretary (mackenzieapsociety@gmail.com). As per Equestrian Rulebook CDE 14. STALLIONS and COLTS a) All stallions and colts (with the exception of Miniature horses and foals) must be shown in a bit. b) A Steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control or to be causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the stallion/colt's/exhibitor/competitor. c) It is compulsory for all stallions and colts, except foals, to wear two (2) official 'S identification badges, one attached to each side of their bridle, at all Shows/Events at all times. The rider must also wear two RAS official (2) armbands (one on each arm) when in the ring. 'S' badges to be purchased from RAS Head Office or ESNZ; armbands from RAS Head Office. d) Handlers and Riders of stallions/colts must wear an approved Hi Viz vest at Shows/Events when outside the showing ring. Vests can be purchased from RAS Head Office. ALL PRIZE WINNERS ARE EXPECTED TO APPEAR IN THE GRAND PARADE. THE GRAND PARADE IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF AN A&P SHOW AND WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION. WHILE IT IS PREFERABLE FOR ALL PRIZE WINNERS TO APPEAR IN THE GRAND PARADE WITH THEIR HORSE/PONY, IN THE CASE OF STALLIONS, NOVICE, LEAD REIN AND FIRST RIDDEN ENTRANTS, PARTICIPATION IS OPTIONAL. IN THE CASE OF ANY HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS OF ANY ENTRANTS, AN UNSAFE MOUNT OR EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE YOU ARE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE, PLEASE APPLY IN WRITING FOR PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY TO THE SECRETARY STATING YOUR REASONS CLEARLY. THE EQUESTRIAN CONVENOR WILL MAKE THE FINAL DECISION AND, IF APPROVED, PRIZE MONEY WILL BE PAID WITHIN A MONTH OF THE SHOW. SHOWGROUNDS OPEN 9AM SATURDAY MARCH 31st. RING MAY BE CLOSED. Limited box/yard accommodation is available on the show grounds. These are allocated at the discretion of the convenor. YOU MUST state on the Entry Form which nights/day are required. If entered online, you must the Secretary (mackenzieapsociety@gmail.com). All Horses/Ponies MUST have a name tag attached to their halter with the contact details of the owner/rider. Charges: $30 refundable cleaning bond per ENTRY FORM. Bond may be sent in the form of a held cheque. Bond/held cheque returned on Show day, from the Equestrian Caravan after inspection. $25.00 per night box, $20.00 per day box, $15.00 per night yard, $10.00 per day yard, Weekend Package (from 9am Saturday Night and Day) box $75.00 or yard $40 - to be paid with entry and left clean. If boxes/yards are left dirty, you will not receive your bond and may also be charged a cleaning fee. All cups and trophies will be engraved by the Society and will be displayed in the Mackenzie A & P Committee Room. Winners may arrange to have a photo taken with the trophy on Show day (please enquire at the Equestrian Caravan) or during the year, or alternately, request a photo of the trophy. Arrangements may be made for the collection of a trophy or cup. Please contact the Secretary for more information. HORSE SPECIAL PRIZES: Supreme Champion Hack will be awarded a tartan rosette. Supreme Champion Hack will be presented for Supreme Exhibit at conclusion of the Parade. The Society's Champion Tartan Scarf awarded to Champion Hack in each section. A Reserve Champion Ribbon also awarded in all sections. A Champion Purple Sash and Reserve Champion Sash will be awarded to Novice Champions. First Placed Open Height Class winners to be paraded in Championship Classes, Second Place winners to stand by.
