In the first game, Adam Gaudette (Braintree, Mass.) scored natural hat trick to power his team to a 3-1 win. The next night, Patrick Schule (Queens, N.Y.), scoring with 2:50 remaining in overtime to lift the Huskies to a 5-4 victory and weekend sweep of No. 17 UMass Lowell. In the process, Jim Madigan earned his 100th and 101st career wins overall behind the Northeastern bench... Providence downed a pair of league rivals in Boston College and Boston University over the weekend behind 46 saves from Hayden Hawkey (Parker, Colo.) on 47 shots seen from the Eagles and Terriers. Hawkey posted a blank sheet against the Terriers, marking the first time the Friars have shut out Boston University since Feb. 6, Massachusetts earned its first league win of the season in its first try, taking a weekend split against Merrimack. In Friday s victory, rookie netminder Matt Murray (St. Albert, Alta.) stopped 24 shots to earn his first career shutout and a 4-0 win. The next night, four different goal-scorers and 19 saves from Craig Pantano (Bridgewater, Mass.) in his first career start lifted the Warriors to a 5-3 victory to earn the split... New Hampshire and Vermont skated to a 4-4 draw on Saturday night. Catamount defender Matt O Donnell (Fountain Valley, Calif.) scored twice and added one assist for a career-high three points in the outing. Wildcats rookie defenseman Benton Maass (Elk River, Minn.) posted a career best of three assists and three points against Vermont and Maass now leads the Wildcats with nine assists and nine points through their first seven contests... Maine dropped a pair of games to Minnesota Duluth. Rookie goaltender Jeremy Swayman (Anchorage, Alaska) made 35 saves in just third career start on Friday while Eduards Tralmaks (Riga, Latvia) scored the lone goal for Maine on the weekend... 2 ADAM GAUDETTE NORTHEASTERN Adam Gaudette (Braintree, Mass.) led the nation with four goals last weekend, helping Northeastern to a league sweep of UMass Lowell. He had a natural hat trick in the first game, a 3-1 victory. The two wins over the River Hawks also notched Huskies head coach Jim Madigan his 100th and 101st overall career wins. OLIVER CHAU MASSACHUSETTS Oliver Chau (Oakville, Ont.) tallied four points (1g, 3a) over the weekend in a series split against Merrimack. He assisted on a goal in Friday s 4-0 win and followed up with a career-high three-point game the next night. He leads the Minutemen in scoring with nine points on the year (3g, 6a). HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HOCKEY EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HAYDEN HAWKEY PROVIDENCE Hayden Hawkey (Parker, Colo.) stopped 46 of 47 shots on goal this weekend in a pair of victories over ranked league opponents Boston University and Boston College. The junior goaltender also recorded his fifth career shutout in the 3-0 win over the Terriers on Saturday.
