Denver / St. Cloud State / Minnesota Duluth / Western Michigan / North Dakota / Omaha / Colorado College / Miami / Teams are awarded three points for each conference win in regulation or 5-on-5 overtime, and one point for a 5-on-5 overtime tie. Conference games still tied after a five-minute 5-on-5 overtime advance to a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime (and sudden victory shootout if still tied) with the team that wins the second overtime/shootout receiving an extra point in the standings (3/SW in the standings), making all games worth three points. The 3-on-3 overtime and shootouts only affect conference standings while the game is officially a tie for NCAA purposes. Upcoming Games on NCHC.tv National Collegiate Hockey Conference Friday s Notes/Saturday Set-Up No. 9/13 Minnesota Duluth won its sixth straight NCHC game Friday with a 5-1 win over No. 5/3 St. Cloud State. The Bulldogs, who started the season in NCHC play, are now and tied for third place. UMD is also now in its last nine games overall. During the Bulldogs current six-game NCHC winning streak, UMD is averaging 5.33 goals per game, tallying at least five goals in all six victories. The Bulldogs entered Friday s game with one short-handed goal all season but scored two in three minutes in the win over SCSU. UMD senior captain Karson Kuhlman tallied two goals for his third career multi-goal game, but his other two came during his sophomore campaign. Sophomore forward Joey Anderson had a goal and an assist in Friday s win, giving him eight points in his last four goals on two goals and six assists. Junior forward Peter Krieger added a goal as well, as he now has five goals in his last seven games after notching four goals in his first 20 games this season. Freshman defenseman Scott Perunovich chipped in an assist, as he is tied for second nationally among defenseman with 24 points this season (6g, 18a), tops among rookie blue liners. Denver junior forward Troy Terry scored a goal in Friday s 3-3 overtime tie at No. 11/7 North Dakota, giving him 97 career points (42g, 55a), as he needs three more to hit the century mark for his career. Omaha senior forward Tyler Vesel also now sits at 97 career points after a pair of assists in the Mavericks 6-2 victory over No. 12/11 Western Michigan Friday. Vesel has 36 goals and 61 assists to his credit. Terry has played in 101 career games, while Vesel has played in 138. No. 4/5 Denver earned two points in the NCHC standings with the tie at UND as Terry scored in the 3-on-3 overtime as well for the extra standings point (the goal does not count toward his stats). Only three NCHC games have ended in 3-on-3 overtime this season and the Pioneers have played in all three, winning two and losing one, with the other two both coming against Colorado College Dec Omaha senior forward David Pope scored a power play goal in Friday s win over the Broncos. He now has nine power play goals this season, which leads the NCAA by himself. The Mavericks went 3-for-7 on the man advantage in the victory and rank fourth nationally and first in the NCHC on the power play now, converting 26.7 percent of the time. Omaha s 31 power play goals this year tie for third nationally. Colorado College also scored three power play goals in a 6-3 win over Miami. Freshman forward Brian Williams scored the first two goals of his career in the victory, while junior forward Mason Bergh added two goals as well. Sophomore forward Nick Halloran chipped in a career-high-tying three assists, giving him 37 points (14g, 23a) on the season, which rank second nationally and first in the NCHC.

2 Friday s Recaps CC, UMD and Omaha Earn Convincing Home Wins Friday Denver ties UND, earns extra point in 3-on-3 OT to extend first-place lead On the first full night of conference play since early December, home teams protected their ice, picking up three victories as the top half of the standings tightened, while No. 4/5 Denver extended its lead in first place with a tie and 3-on-3 overtime win. The Pioneers rallied, took the lead and then settled for a 3-3 overtime tie at No. 11/7 North Dakota, before scoring in 3-on-3 overtime to pick up the extra point in the NCHC standings. No. 9/13 Minnesota Duluth continued its climb up the NCHC standings, vaulting into a tie for third with a 5-1 win over No. 5/3 St. Cloud State in Duluth. The Bulldogs are now tied with No. 12/11 Western Michigan, which fell at No. 19/15 Omaha, 6-2, as the Mavericks scored four goals in the final six minutes. Colorado College kept pace with Omaha in a tie for sixth as the Tigers knocked off Miami, 6-3, behind a strong power play effort in Colorado Springs. Jumping out to a 3-0 first period lead, No. 9/13 Minnesota Duluth never looked back in a 5-1 win over in-state rival No. 5/3 St. Cloud State Friday at AMSOIL Arena. Behind senior forward Karson Kuhlman s two goals, the Bulldogs ( , NCHC) won their sixth straight NCHC game to move into a tie for third place. Kuhlman opened the scoring only 2:36 into the game, while midway through the period junior forward Peter Krieger doubled the lead. Sophomore forward Joey Anderson, who set up Krieger s goal, capped the first frame, scoring with only 11 ticks left to make it 3-0 UMD. The Bulldogs added a pair of short-handed goals in the final three minutes of the second period, the latter coming from Kuhlman, to make it 5-0 after 40 minutes, before the Huskies (14-6-3, NCHC) broke through in the final frame. Despite the loss, SCSU outshot UMD, 25-18, including 13-5 in the third period, but sophomore Hunter Shepard made 24 saves to earn the win in net. The teams wrap up their series Saturday at 7:07 p.m. CT in Duluth. ( , /0 NCHC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first frame with junior forward Westin Michaud scoring the second goal on the man advantage. Miami (9-12-2, NCHC) answered a minute later, however, to make it a one-goal game after 20 minutes. Bergh and freshman forward Brian Williams each tallied in the second stanza for the Tigers with Williams adding an empty-netter late for the first two goals of his career. Bergh made it 5-1 before Miami started a comeback with back-to-back power play goals, but the RedHawks would get no closer. Sophomore forward Nick Halloran and sophomore defenseman Kristian Blumenschein each dished out three assists in the win. CC finished with a edge in shots on goal, while going 3-for-3 on the power play. The teams finish their series Saturday at 4:07 p.m. MT. After the two teams combined for four goals through 50 minutes of play, No. 19/15 Omaha scored four goals by themselves in the final seven minutes to pull away from No. 12/11 Western Michigan for a 6-2 victory Friday at Baxter Arena. The Mavericks ( , NCHC) scored once in each of the first two periods to grab a 2-0 lead through 40 minutes. The Broncos ( , NCHC) roared back in the third period with goals from senior defenseman Neal Goff and freshman forward Austin Rueschhoff, the latter on the power play that tied the game midway through the final frame. Omaha took over from there, however, with senior captain Joel Messner tallying the game-winner on the power play with 6:18 remaining, while the Mavericks added a pair of empty-net goals and another power play goal in the final 1:03 to seal the victory. WMU outshot Omaha, 34-29, despite the loss, but the Mavericks went 3-for-7 on the man advantage and junior goalie Evan Weninger compiled 32 saves in the win. The two teams conclude their series Saturday at 7:07 p.m. CT. In a game of back-and-forth momentum, No. 4/5 Denver earned two points on the road against No. 11/7 North Dakota with a 3-3 overtime tie and 3-on-3 overtime win Friday at Ralph Engelstad Arena. The Fighting Hawks (12-8-7, /2 NCHC) jumped out to 2-0 lead in the first 5:18 of the game with junior forward Shane Gersich, who had a two-point night, scoring on the power play for the second goal. The Pioneers (14-6-5, /0 NCHC) started to rally in the second period when junior forward Dylan Gambrell found the back of the net, while two goals in the first six minutes of the third period put DU ahead with junior forward Troy Terry notching the go-ahead goal on the power play. UND had an answer, however, as junior defenseman Hayden Shaw scored with an extra attacker to tie the game at 3-3 and force overtime. After the first OT went scoreless, the teams went to a 3-on-3 OT for the extra standings point where Terry sniped a goal to give DU two points. UND finished with a slight, edge in shots on goal. The teams wrap up their series Saturday at 7:07 p.m. CT. Behind a strong power play, Colorado College cruised past Miami, 6-3, Friday at the Broadmoor World Arena. The Tigers scored three times on the power play, including two from junior forward Mason Bergh.
