GP W L T 3/SW Win Pct. GF GA GP W L T Win Pct. GF GA 1. Denver / Minnesota Duluth / Western Michigan / North Dakota / St. Cloud State / Omaha / Miami / Colorado College / Teams are awarded three points for each conference win in regulation or 5-on-5 overtime, and one point for a 5-on-5 overtime tie. Conference games still tied after a five-minute 5-on-5 overtime advance to a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime (and sudden victory shootout if still tied) with the team that wins the second overtime/shootout receiving an extra point in the standings (3/SW in the standings). A 3-on-3 overtime or shootout win then is worth two points in the standings while the team that loses the 3-on-3 overtime/shootout receives just one point for the tie. The 3-on-3 overtime and shootouts only affect conference standings while the game is officially a tie for NCAA purposes. Two of the four games also required overtime, including UNO s 2-1 win at Western Michigan, as well as No. 2 seed Minnesota Duluth edging Miami, 5-4, in extra time. Both overtime game-winners were scored by senior captains. Last season, all four higher seeds advanced to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff, while only one lower seed advanced in (No. 6 seed St. Cloud State). Senior forward Justin Parizek scored the game-winner for Omaha in overtime, giving the Mavericks their first NCHC postseason win since the inaugural season when Omaha won its first ever NCHC playoff game over Denver on March 13, With a win Saturday, UNO would secure its first ever trip to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. Omaha is one of only two NCHC teams yet to have won an NCHC Quarterfinal series (Colorado College). The Mavericks are now away from home this season with the.658 road win percentage 10th nationally. UMD senior forward Dominic Toninato scored the game-winner for the Bulldogs against Miami. It was his second game-winner this season while Minnesota Duluth improved to when he scores a goal this season. With one more win this weekend, the Bulldogs would clinch their second straight and second ever Frozen Faceoff berth after Minnesota Duluth took runner-up honors last season. UMD freshman forward Riley Tufte tallied two goals in the game for his second-career multi-goal game (Jan. 20 at North Dakota). He was the only NCHC player to record a multi-goal game Friday. They were his first goals since Jan. 27, when he capped a burst of five goals in five games. He now has seven goals this season. Top-ranked Denver took a 1-0 series lead over rival Colorado College with a 4-1 win, which was DU s 13th straight win over the Tigers and 12th straight win this season, which is the longest active win streak in the NCAA. The Pioneers have held CC to one goal in each of their five meetings this season, while racking up 17 goals. Sophomore forward Troy Terry tallied three points, scoring a goal and adding two assists for DU. It was his fifth game of at least three points this season. Denver now has 27 wins on the season, which leads the NCAA, as does its 15 home wins. The Pioneers are at Magness Arena this year with the.800 home win percentage ranking second nationally. With one more win this weekend, DU returns to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff for the fourth time in four years of the tournament s history. No. 14/13 North Dakota can also book its fourth trip to the Frozen Faceoff in four tries after beating No. 20 St. Cloud State, 5-2, in game one Friday. UND needs one more win to reach its 15th straight 20-win season, which would trail only Denver s 16 straight 20-win campaigns.

3 Friday Round-up/Inter-Conference Records Two Game Ones End in OT; Omaha Earns Lone Road Win on Opening Night of NCHC Playoffs UMD edges Miami in OT, Denver downs CC, UND tops SCSU and Omaha clips WMU in OT for 1-0 series leads The 2017 National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Tournament certainly started with excitement, as fans were treated to bonus hockey in each of the first two quarterfinal game ones Friday night, one of which resulted in the only road victory among the four best-of-three series. Sixth-seeded Omaha took a series lead on senior forward Justin Parizek s game-winner in overtime to beat No. 3 seed Western Michigan, 2-1, in Kalamazoo. Also in overtime, senior forward Dominic Toninato proved to be the hero for second-seeded Minnesota Duluth, which escaped with a 5-4 win over No. 7 seed Miami. Top-seeded and top-ranked Denver stretched its win streak to 12 games with a 4-1 victory over rival No. 8 seed Colorado College. In the 4-5 match-up, North Dakota held serve with a 5-2 win over St. Cloud State. Continuing its dominance over its in-state rival, No. 1/1 Denver overcame a slow start to earn a 4-1 win over Colorado College Friday at Magness Arena in their NCHC Quarterfinal series opener. With the win, DU (27-6-4) extended its win streak to an NCAA-best 12 games, while picking up their 13th straight win over the Tigers (8-23-4). Sophomore forward Troy Terry had a hand in each of the Pioneers first three goals, breaking a scoreless deadlock with a goal early in the second stanza while setting up the next two goals in the period to put Denver up 3-0. CC broke through midway through the middle period off the stick of sophomore forward Westin Michaud, but a DU power play goal in the third period sealed the win. Denver outshot the Tigers, 46-22, despite CC freshman Alex Leclerc making 42 saves. The rivals play game two of their series Saturday at 7:07 p.m. MT. In the only NCHC Quarterfinal game one that was won by the road team, Omaha senior forward Justin Parizek scored 4:17 into overtime to give the Mavericks a 2-1 win over No. 7/8 Western Michigan Friday at Lawson Ice Arena. Sophomore forward Mason Morelli won a draw back to Parizek, who fired the game-winner under the crossbar to give Omaha ( ) a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Junior defenseman Paul Stoykewych put the Broncos ( ) in front late in the first period, while Omaha pulled even midway through the second stanza on a goal from junior forward Jake Randolph. The Mavericks outshot WMU, 37-28, in the win. The two teams continue their series Saturday at 7:07 p.m. ET with Omaha hoping to clinch its first ever Frozen Faceoff berth. The second NCHC Quarterfinal game to be decided in overtime was at AMSOIL Arena, where senior forward Dominic Toninato found the back of the net 7:24 into the extra session to lift No. 3/3 Minnesota Duluth to a 5-4 win over Miami. Fellow senior forward Alex Iafallo set up the game-winner off a faceoff win to put the second-seeded Bulldogs (22-6-7) up 1-0 in the bestof-three series. Sophomore forward Parker Mackay put UMD in front early in the game unassisted, taking advantage of a turnover, but Miami (9-19-7) answered with two goals in 35 seconds right after to take the lead. The teams then traded goals, with the RedHawks holding a 3-2 lead before UMD tied it heading into the final frame. Sophomore forward Ryan Siroky put Miami in front again midway through the third period, but UMD freshman forward Riley Tufte tallied his second goal of the game a minute later to force overtime. The Bulldogs outshot Miami, 41-22, in the win. The teams play game two of their series Saturday at 7:37 p.m. CT with UMD looking to earn its second straight trip to the Frozen Faceoff. No. 14/13 North Dakota jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead and never looked back in a 5-2 win over No. 20 St. Cloud State Friday at Ralph Engelstad Arena to take a 1-0 series lead in their best-of-three quarterfinal series. Sophomore forward Rhett Gardner opened the scoring for UND ( ) while classmate Shane Gersich doubled the lead a minute later. Grand Forks native Jacob Benson cut the deficit in half for SCSU ( ) on the power play, but UND sophomore Brock Boeser answered with his own power play marker to regain a two-goal lead. Another Husky power play tally closed the gap to one, but Gersich and Boeser set up goals later in the third period to seal the victory and two-point nights for each of them. UND outshot SCSU, 36-28, in the win. Game two of the series is set for 7:07 p.m. CT with North Dakota aiming for a fourth straight trip to the Frozen Faceoff.
