39 Goat Health Classification B Entries will be restricted to those goats with current BGS CAE-monitored status. W Entries will be restricted to goats from herds that are whole herd negative CAE tested within the twelve months prior to the show. This category may include goats eligible for category B. BGS Regulation 25 defines whole herd for CAE testing purposes. The two classifications listed in BGS Regulation 18(10b) contain no mention of herds that are CAE Accredited under the Sheep and Goat Health Scheme operated by the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC). The scheme, aimed at disease eradication, is supported by the BGS, but special provisions need to be made at shows for goats within the scheme. It is the responsibility of those with CAE Accredited herds to ascertain that shows which they wish to enter have the necessary facilities, and they must also ensure that they comply with the Scheme s rules and conditions whilst on the Showground. The following statements must be made on entry schedules for all categories of shows from January 1st 2000: No entries will be accepted in the B or W categories unless CAE blood test results are on BGS submission forms or Sheep and Goat Health Scheme forms. This us to enable quick and accurate confirmation of the status of the goats attending a show. There will be a minimum two metre gap, between the different health status goats. Scrapie Monitoring herd scheme will also be approved in the dairy goat section. Exhibitors are advised that milk that has been passed through the communal weigh bucket should not be fed to kids, as this has been a factor in the spread of CAE in the past. Exhibitors must ensure that they comply with the requirements of national legislation for Recording, Identification and Movement of goats in force at the time of the Festival. If both the Rose Bengal Plate Test (RBPT) and microscopical examination of a smear made from the swab are negative, the animal may then leave isolation. Welsh Government will not be responsible for any fee or other charges incurred in this respect. Animals calving prematurely or aborting must immediately be placed in the approved isolation accommodation and the AHVLA at the Showground will be informed by the Office. If an animal calves or aborts before it can be isolated, full precautions must be taken to isolate and disinfect any possibly contaminated standings, bedding, utensils and vehicles. If the animal is moved before the BS 27 Notice is lifted, a Movement Licence will be required, obtained from the AHVLA. The AHVLA for the Show will notify the AHVLA of the Division of the registered premises of the circumstances of the abortion so that a further BS 27 can be served isolating the animal pending the results of further laboratory investigations. All other bovine animals from the same registered premises will not be allowed to compete further in the Show until negative results for an RBPT and microscopical examination of the smear from the aborting animal have been received.
