I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous year and good luck with the resolutions! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Our Sly Fox Holiday Party had a great turn out. We had it at the Red OX. The food, servers, bartenders and cooks were GREAT AS ALWAYS. Thank you Red OX. Thanks to ALL who brought canned goods for the food pantry. Paul and Julie made sure our donations got to their destinations. Kathy won the 50/50, she donated it back. Thank you for your generosity. So, with that donation, ALL monies for the 50/50 went to Special Olympics. Thanks again for all the generous donations of food and monies that we were able to share with others at this time of year. Mark did an awesome job running the social event. Thanks Toby for helping Mark with the prizes that were donated from many local establishments. Thank you SARAH BOHM from Sassy Sarah Yoga, she came to our meeting last month and did a presentation on strength and stretching as they are tied into our skiing sport. We had good participation with the group that was at the meeting. Our January meetings are Wednesday the 2nd and 16th. Jan. 2nd is our Pretrip informational meeting for Big Snow I. Jan. 16th is our pre-trip informational meeting for Ischgl, Austria & Budapest. January is going to be a fun and busy month. Our meetings will be held at THE BAR at 2435 W. Nordale Drive, on the corner of Lynndale and Northland Ave in Appleton. Socializing at 7 pm., formal meeting starts at 7:30 pm. The Bar does offer a full menu if you want to eat dinner before the meeting. Many of our members do take advantage of this option. I encourage you all to attend to hear about our trips and the trips of Gelandesprung Ski Club. We have a reciprocity agreement with them so if you are a member of either club, you can also go on the other club s trips. TRIP UPDATE. ISCHGL AUSTRIA & BUDAPEST This trip is CLOSED for sign ups. Cascade is considered the top day trip area in the Midwest. 460 Vertical Drop. Gelandesprung Ski Clu b will be going on a FRIDAY to avoid the weekend crowds. With 12 lifts including 2 high-speed, detachable quads, they can move a lot of skiers uphill quickly. Cascade offers 45 trails, four terrain parks and 15 snow tubing lanes. The $9 million expansion phase 1 of 3 was completed for the 2016/2017 ski season. For 2017/2018 they added another new trail, opened a new patio, added to their snowmaking/grooming fleet and much more. Put your Skis & Boots in your Car - LET s GO! Cascade is about 2hr 20 min from Green Bay (about 130 miles). This will be a Drive Yourself Trip No Transportation or Overnight Lodging included.
