Over 50 young crers long with some stff, volunteers, trustees nd fmily memers took prt in 5 mile chrity rinow wlk to rise funds for the 5 chrities the young crers nominted. 9 Additionl Work/Achievements during 2017/18: Medi Our Fceook presence continues to grow with supporters, young crers nd their fmilies engging with us nd promoting informtion shring nd events. Community support June 2017 sw totl of 81 prticipnts including 28 young crers long with stff, volunteers, trustees nd fmily memers tking prt in Rinow Wlk. We invited chrity representtives nd the community to come together to celerte the completion of the wlk with food, entertinment nd informtion tles ville. The young crers stted tht they would feel good out doing something to cknowledge the support their fmilies receive from vrious chrities; they lso felt tht it would encourge more people to get involved nd ring chrities together Chrities should get together more to support ech other, insted it sometimes looks s if they re competing - they ll wnt to do the sme thing to mke things etter for people. We continue to receive invlule support from memers of the wider community who hve ecome Friends of the S&L Young Crer service. These friends nd supporters hve provided gift vouchers, mels, clothing, toys, edding nd funds to py towrds ctivities during respite outings wy from home. Brodford Hospitl stff nd NHS collegues rised funds nd purchsed some much pprecited winter clothing for young crers who would enefit from them. Highlnd Young Crers Conference hosted y Connecting Young Crers We worked in prtnership with Connecting Young Crers nd the Highlnd Council s Qulity Assurnce Officer to develop nd deliver workshop with resource mterils relting to the Young Crer Sttement, Crers (Scotlnd) Act 2016 requirements. Th Seo Mth Dhuih good for you - Over the summer holidys in prtnership with Aros, photogrphers Cilen Mclen, Iin Smith nd rtist Kte McMorrine worked with young crers from Skye nd Lochlsh. Three groups of young crers long with stff nd volunteers went on outings in Skye with the rtists, visiting Bres, Ord, nd Hrlosh. They herd stories out the plces nd spent time tking photogrphs. Afterwrds they took prt in workshops in photo editing nd rt. Their work, inspired y their experience, ws exhiited t the Aros Centre. Following on from the success of the project nd support from n Aros employee very populr 2018 clendr ws produced using the photos tken y the young crers. Christms 2017 Respite Edinurgh A totl of 11 young crers enefitted from the 3-night residentil respite rek, they were supported y 4 stff memers nd 1 volunteer. Huge thnks to The Royl Cledonin Bll Trust, The Big Lottery, The Co-op community fund nd personl enefctor for enling young crers to hve their rillint, long nticipted nnul residentil respite rek in Edinurgh. The very positive young crers evlution of this residentil respite is t the end of this report.
