1 The Good News Bears CGS Annual Talent Show The CGS talent show was last Friday, March 31, in the gym. Students, parents and teachers crowded the gym to watch the many students perform in the annual talent show. The judges, Mr. and Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Strickland, announced the winners at 8:15 P.M. after deciding which 3 acts were the best. The winners are Blake Simmons, eighth grade, who came in first place and won $75, Elise and Lillie Sharpe, ninth grade, who came in second place and won $50, and Mackenzie Smith, eighth grade, who came in third place and won $25. Simmons played We are Young Fun on his saxophone, and later played in his family s band which played I Saw the Light on a variety of instruments. Both Sharpe s sang the classic 80s song Don t Stop Believing by Journey in a duet. Smith danced Smother by Daughter in her performance. The talent show was organized and held by the FCA to raise money for JJ French s medical expenses. Haley Walker, who is in twelfth grade, was in charge of setting the whole thing up. According to Walker, they raised just over $1,000 for French. Walker told me that everything went as planned for the most part, and it was a success in her opinion. I asked her if it was difficult to set it up, and she said No, it was pretty easy with Mrs. Vereyken s help. Walker also added I m just grateful that the FCA helped out as much as they did. They also played some fantas c songs you may not have heard, such as Mood Indigo, The Way we Were, and Body and Soul. Overall, the Concert was a huge success. Athle cs So ball The CGS High School girls so ball has been on an impressive run as of late, winning their last game against Cummings by a score of 23-0.

Lexie Roberts, Ally York, and Kara Stroud all reached base once in the game. Tuesday, BCMS ( Bethany ) came to Clover Garden. The Lady Grizzlies came away with a 17-13 victory.

The Grizzlies kept the lead for the rest of the game to push their record to 4-2. Lexie Roberts and McKenna Merri shared me on the mound each pitching 3 1/2 innings.

6 Athle cs So ball The CGS High School girls so ball has been on an impressive run as of late, winning their last game against Cummings by a score of CGS middle school girls hosted Uwharrie Charter School last Thursday. Uwharrie took a 2 run lead into the fourth where they added 5 runs and never looked back. The final score was Lexie Roberts, Ally York, and Kara Stroud all reached base once in the game. Tuesday, BCMS ( Bethany ) came to Clover Garden. The Lady Grizzlies came away with a victory. The game went back and forth un l the fourth inning when Bethany went up by 1 only to see CGS score 6 in the bo om of the inning. The Grizzlies kept the lead for the rest of the game to push their record to 4-2. Lexie Roberts and McKenna Merri shared me on the mound each pitching 3 1/2 innings. McKenna Merri reached base safely 5 out of 5 mes, Lexie Roberts 4 out of 5 mes, and Erica Burgess added 3 hits including a home run. The Lady Grizzlies next game is Tuesday April 18 Soccer HS Baseball Currently the High School Baseball Team has a record of 6-0. They defeated Forsyth Home Educators 4-3 on Friday thanks to a walk-off. The game was ed at three with the team ba ng in the bo om of the eighth when Bryce Amoriello hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. Bryson Lo is earned the win for the Grizzlies. He pitched six innings, allowing three runs, three hits, and striking out six. The team collected 12 hits. Mitch Amoriello, Ben Matkins, Chris an Fowlkes and Bryson Lo is each collected mul ple hits for the Grizzlies. Bryce went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. The Soccer team suffered a devasta ng loss this week. A er bad weather, their game against Piedmont Classical was called due to bad weather. Unfortunately that cost the team, as they were losing by a score of 2-1. This loss brings their record to 2-4. Their next game will be on Wednesday, April 12, against WS Chris an at home. Their next game is schedule for Wednesday April 12 at 4:30pm and will be played at Joe Davidson Park. 6

8 CGS PTT - Spring Fundraiser Thank you for another great year at Clover Garden School. It is time for a great family event! We are excited to announce our annual PTT Spring Fling! Save the date! Sat., May 6 th, What a wonderful time to volunteer and help with a great family event used to fund ALL committees under the PTT. Also, if we exceed the budget for the next school year, we assist with items and events approved by administration that best benefit the entire school. This event is the only Fundraiser held by CGS PTT. Schedule of Events: 9:00 am 5K run/walk 11:00 am 1:30 pm Food, Games and Inflatable's 2:00 pm Auction yes we accept checks and cash! We will offer a game ticket pre-sale, tickets are used for games and inflatables - 1 ticket is $0.25 or you can purchase 25 tickets for just $5.00. The pre-sale will end on Friday, May 5 th, We are looking for each class/homeroom (K-12) to create a fun, unique, interesting, festive, colorful, tasteful basket to represent the creativity in your students! This basket will be auctioned off at our CGS Spring Fling. The average value of each basket(s)/box/tote(s) auction item should range from $60-$150 each. There is no limit on the number of baskets a class can provide, but we request to keep each basket to a reasonable auction amount. The class with the highest total auctioned value will win an ice cream or pizza party and the teacher will win a CGS Script gift card! Anything can be auctioned off, single items, gift cards, art work etc. If you choose to donate a gift card for your class basket please consider ordering them through CGS Scrip! This way you are double dipping in helping the school/staff/students. Teachers once all items for your class basket(s) have been collected, please make sure each basket is labeled with the class name, items within the basket and estimated value. More baskets = More money for students/staff/teachers! Our Fundraiser is not possible without your help. We would like to request that Kindergarten and 1st grade students please donate a case of soda per student. All other grades, we are asking for each family to donate $2.00 for each student toward the purchase of water, hot dogs, fries, and condiments. Please have your drinks or monetary donation turned in to your child s teacher or home room by Wednesday, April 26 th, Checks should be made out to Clover Garden PTT.
