With the game tied 4-4 going into the bottom of the sixth on Saturday, May led off the inning and was intentionally walked. A&M proceeded to scored four runs and batted through the lineup before the Spring, Texas, native stepped to the plate for a second time in the frame, this time with the bases loaded. With a 2-2 count, May went with a curveball on the outside corner to launch her 15th home run of the season and the game-ending blow. On Sunday, Dumezich threw a no-hitter through five and two-thirds innings and had a career-high 11 strikeouts before Kliesing smacked her first career grand slam to end the game in the sixth. AGGIES IN THE POLLS Texas A&M is ranked 18th in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 this week and No. 20 in the USA Today/NFCA poll. A&M s remaining ranked opponents are No. 4 Missouri, No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 15 Oklahoma State, No. 17 Texas, and No. 24 Baylor. In addition, Texas Tech is receiving votes. A FIRST AGAINST TECH A&M played its second-highest ranked opponent in No. 8 Georgia Tech on March 24 and the Yellow Jackets shutout the Aggies for the first time all season. That s pretty impressive figuring two of No. 3 Missouri s and No. 9 Stanford s three losses, and two of No. 5 Alabama s seven losses have been blanks. What s even more is that Texas A&M is in good company with only one shutout loss this year. Several top 10 programs, including No. 2 Arizona, No. 6 UCLA and No. 8 Georgia Tech each have been shutout just once. THE AMAZING ARBINO Arbino threw a career-best 27 scoreless innings and went 4-0 March She did not allow a run (0.00 ERA) and gave up only three walks and one extra base hit (a double). Arbino held her opponents to a stifling.121 batting average and tallied two nine-inning shutouts against No. 25 UMass and San Diego State. Arbino shutout UMass for just the second time all season and San Diego State for the fourth time all year and first time in 14 games. She threw four innings of hitless relief work against Long Beach State and gave up just two hits with six K s against Harvard. She won nine in-a-row and only gave up two runs and five walks over the nine-game stretch in which she owned a 0.25 ERA, six shutouts and held opponents to a.148 batting average. Arbino has the most shutouts (seven) in the Big 12 which is a career-high. LONGEST WINNING STREAK The Aggies amassed an 11-game winning streak from March 9-21, which is their longest stretch this season and also their longest run since the team went on a 17-game winning streak from April 16-May 30, ESPN.com/USA Softball top 25 POLL - March 30 Rank Team Record Pts Pvs 1. 5 SISK OUT FOR THE SEASON Junior transfer Lindsey Sisk injured the tendon to her middle finger on her non-throwing hand and will be out for the entire 2010 season. MORROW HITS TO WIN Senior Macie Morrow delivered a pair of two-out, game-winning hits that helped Texas A&M bounce back with two victories at the Cathedral City Classic. She drove in one run off of an infield single to put the Aggies ahead, 4-3, over UNLV and then came through in the top of the eighth inning against San Diego State with a line-drive single to center that gave the Aggies a 7-6 win. MULTIPLE-RUN VICTORIES The Aggies had a pair of one-run victories at the Cathedral City Classic, but have not had very many close games this season. In fact, only seven games have been decided by just one run and the Aggies are 5-2 in these contests. In addition, A&M has been winning by an average of 4.3 runs in its 27 W s. SCORING EARLY AND OFTEN When the Aggies score runs they tend to score in bunches. In the team s first 11 games, it scored two or more runs in 20 of 25 innings that runs crossed the plate. SIX HOME RUNS = NEW GAME RECORD The Aggies launched six home runs against Mississippi State on Feb. 20, including two homers from Kliesing and back-to-back long balls from Dumezich in the fourth frame. Speaking of 10 four-baggers, that s how many the Aggies hit over their two games on Feb. 20. BIG 12 PRESEASON POLL A&M was picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll. The Aggies received 44 points and finished behind preseason favorite Oklahoma 79), Missouri 75), Baylor 61), Nebraska 49), and Texas 48).
