2 Event History Congratulations Charlottetown and Softball PEI!!!!!! U19 International Men's - Ontario wins Gold! Final News Release: Softball Canada - Sunday, July 12, 2009 (Charlottetown, PEI) Ontario defeated Saskatchewan twice on the final day of competition as they claimed the Gold medal of the U19 International Men s Softball Championship. After beating Saskatchewan 3-2 this morning to earn a direct berth in the Championship game, Ontario repeated that feat again with a 5-1 win to take the Gold. Saskatchewan 2, Ontario 3 With a direct berth to the Championship game on the line, Ontario jumped to a 3-0 lead before Saskatchewan scored two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to one, but Ontario pitcher Brendan Roach shut the door in the final three innings, allowing only three hits with five strikeouts. Dan Mitchell and Robert Kay each had a hit and a run batted in for Ontario, who only managed five hits off Saskatchewan pitcher Devon McCullough. Kalyn Robinson paced Saskatchewan at the plate with three hits and an RBI. McCullough took the complete-game loss, allowing three runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Nova Scotia 9, New Zealand 4 Nova Scotia woke up late in the game to power past New Zealand, eliminating the kiwis from the tournament. After New Zealand took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, Nova Scotia scored two runs in each of the third and fourth innings, added one run in the fifth and sixth, and rounded out their scoring with three runs in the seventh to preserve the win. Aaron Long was the big contributor for NS, going four-for-four with four runs batted in and two runs scored. Patrick Avery also contributed with two hits, an RBI and a run scored, while Darcy and Ryan Gillis, and Tyler Whynot each added a hit. Josh Gettins went three-for-four with an RBI and two runs for NZ, while Joshua Harrow added two hits and three runs batted in. Patrick Avery earned the win in the pitcher s circle, allowing four runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts. Nova Scotia 2, Saskatchewan 8 Saskatchewan earned a rematch with Ontario in the Championship game by defeating Nova Scotia. Saskatchewan jumped to an early 4-0 lead, and after Nova Scotia came back with two runs, they scored a run in the fourth and three in the fifth to cap off the scoring. Devon McCullough shut the NS offence down in the three final innings, allowing only one hit while he picked up five strikeouts. Kalyn Robinson was three-for-three with a run batted in and two runs scored for Saskatchewan, while McCullough, Derek Arsenie, Matt Karpinka and Kyle Laird all drove in a run. Trent MacDonald and Tyler Whynot each went two-for-two for Nova Scotia, while Ryan Gillis added a hit and an RBI. Saskatchewan 1, Ontario 5 Ontario claimed the Gold medal by scoring two runs in the first and adding single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to defeat Saskatchewan, who were playing their third game of the day. Brendan Roach earned the completegame win for Ontario, allowing only one run on six hits to go along with three strikeouts. Devon McCullough, pitching in his third game of the day, was tagged with the complete-game loss, allowing five runs on eight hits with three strikeouts as well. Ian Wallwork had a hit and two runs batted in for Ontario, while Dan Mitchell, Robert Kay, and Adam Alexander each added a hit and an RBI. Kalyn Robinson had two hits for Saskatchewan.

3 Event History The 2013 U21 Men s International Softball Championships is an event developed by Softball Canada and it s Provincial Softball Organizations across Canada to provide a competition for the male U21 classification to replace the Canada Games Program. This program was developed to provide a National / International caliber event to better prepare the athletes for possible future National Team invites. The Pilot was held in July of 2009 and Softball Prince Edward Island and the City of Charlottetown hosted teams from 11 Canadian Provinces and 3 International Teams to a very successful event. All games were action packed and the fans from across Canada has a very memorable time with the PEI Hospitality Congratulations to the Host and all the volunteers in setting the standards for the new event, Saskatoon looks forward to the challenge!! The Host Organization The Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association welcomes the challenge to host the 2013 U21Men s International Softball Championships. The SASA is well known across Canada with 46 years of Softball history operating the Adult league categories in Saskatoon. Presently the league has 24 Men s teams and 23 Ladies teams and has league play at Bob Van Impe Stadium, Gordie Howe Park & Glen Reeve Fields daily. The organization has been very active over the years and the upcoming U21 Event will be the 21 st major event in the last 28 years. The SASA has an active Executive of 9 members overseeing the needs of over 900 active members

4 The City - Saskatoon The U21 International Men s Softball Championships will be hosted in the City of Saskatoon.Saskatoon is situated along the South Saskatchewan River in Central Canada.Saskatoon is Saskatchewan s largest urban centre and the fastest growing city in Canada with over 250,000 residents and growing quickly Saskatoon s well known hospitality ensures the teams; officials and dignitaries will receive a warm Saskatchewan welcome. The City s excellent facilities combined with world class attractions, quick and efficient local transport will ensure team s and fans get everywhere they need to, easily and promptly. For decades, softball events hosted in Saskatoon have united this sport-passionate community and have brought generations of fans together. Getting to Saskatoon has never being easier with an extensive direct flight services served by the national and international air carrier system to John G. Diefenbaker International Airport. Event Press Conference Press Releases The Official Event announcement will be held in Saskatoon on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 22 nd at 3:00 pm (CST) with invited dignitaries from Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments, the announcement and introduction of the Title Sponsor and guest media officials from across the province of Saskatchewan, At this event the Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association will also open the first ever Softball Hall of Fame at Bob Van Impe Stadium. The new Saskatoon Softball Hall of Fame will be officially opened by long time Softball Canada and International Softball Federation Hall of Famer Bob Van Impe. 7 Venue The 2013 International Men s Fast Pitch Championships will take place at Bob Van Impe Stadium, Gordie Howe Park and Glen Reeve Fields. The facilities are known throughout the world as one of the top Softball facilities and will showcase this International Event. Accommodations The Host Hotel Holiday Inn will accommodate the Softball Canada delegations,international Softball delegations and also the out of Province & Country event spectators. The teams & Umpires will stay on the Campus of the University of Saskatchewan where they will be provided Lodging & 3 meals daily. Transportation Transportation services will be provided for all teams throughout the event with the support of 2 53 person Buses that will continuously transport teams to and from the event locations. The Softball Delegations, Umpires will be supplied Car Rental that meets their requirements throughout the event
