The Bats won just their second game in their last eight tries, despite only one RBI and scoring only unearned runs. With the win, the Bats have taken a 4-1 series lead over the Knights this season. With another win tonight (or this season) against Charlotte, the Bats will clinch their first season victory over the Knights since 2010, when LOU went 7-1 against them. BIG TIME TIMMY-JIM THURSDAY: The Bats will start right-hander Tim Adleman (3-1, 2.72) in the series finale against Charlotte. He s faced the Knights one time in his career, back on July 26 at Louisville Slugger Field. In that outing, he pitched six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits. He walked one and struck out three en route to a 73 pitch, 48 strike no-decision. The 7/26 outing started a current streak of three straight quality starts for Adleman. His ERA in those starts is 0.87, fifth-best among International League pitchers in that span. DÉJÀ VU DANIEL: Right-handed pitcher Daniel Wright (4-5, 5.77) earned the win last night in his second relief appearance for Louisville this season. He gave up one earned run on six hits and a walk, striking out two. It was his first relief appearance since July 25 at Louisville Slugger Field. Both relief outings came against the Charlotte Knights, both lasted exactly 4.2 innings, and in both appearances, Wright earned the win. He s now 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA as a reliever, and 2-5, 6.52 in 11 starts with the Bats. He relieved rehabbing righties Alfredo Simon and A.J. Morris, who combined for three innings, one earned run, three hits, two walks, and a strikeout. Left-hander Wandy Peralta earned his third save of the season for the Bats, and first of the four-out variety. REHAB STATISTICS: Overall this season, there have now been 24 rehab starts made for Louisville. Simon joins fellow right-handers Tim Adleman, Homer Bailey, Anthony DeSclafani, Jon Moscot, and lefty John Lamb who have combined to go 4-9 while rehabbing with the Bats. They have collected a 5.66 ERA in 97 innings. They have combined to allow 122 hits, 64 runs (61 earned), and 20 home runs, walking 22 and striking out 78. Rehabbing starters SO:BB ratio is 3.55, compared to all other LOU starters SO:BB ratio of 2.09 (405 strikeouts, 194 walks). ONE-RUN, GETTING IT DONE: With Wednesday s 3-2 win, the Bats improve to in one-run games this season, best in the IL. Their.629 winning percentage in one-run games is far ahead of second-place Columbus (24-17) and their.585 winning percentage. Last night was the Bats first one-run victory on the road since June 25 in Rochester, also a 3-2 victory. OUT-HIT, BUT NOT OUT FOUGHT: Last night, the Bats were out-hit in a game for the 50 th time this season. Despite being out-hit 10-8, LOU captured the victory, improving to 9-41 when being out-hit. It was the first time the Bats won a game on the road in that situation since May 28 in Lehigh Valley, and only the third time all season the Bats have won on the road when being out-hit (May 6 at Indianapolis was the other date). FOUR-OUT SAVE: Left-hander Wandy Peralta recorded the final out of the eighth inning before shutting the door in the ninth for his third save of the season. It s his fourth career save and first of the four-out variety. It s the first four-out save for a LOU reliever since RHP Kevin Shackelford recorded a four-out save on August 1 in a 4-1 win at Toledo. A WIN WELL EARNED : The Bats won 3-2 on Wednesday despite not scoring an earned run. Charlotte pitchers Kameron Loe, Matt Purke, and Juan Minaya each gave up a run, but none of them were earned. It was the first time LOU won a game without scoring an earned run since July 24, 2015, a 1-0 win at Indianapolis. In that game, Keyvius Sampson went eight shutout innings for the Bats and Irving Falu scored the only run of the ballgame. Indianapolis starter Radhames Liz threw seven innings, allowing the only run of the game to cross on a throwing error made by himself. RIP MAN WINKER: Outfielder Jesse Winker is hitting.296 this season with a.384 on-base percentage that ranks 5 th in the IL. He s reached base safely in 24 of his last 26 games. In that span, which dates back to July 15, he s hitting.330 (31-for-94) with eight doubles, nine RBI, and 10 walks. In August, he s hitting.371 (13-for-35), which ranks 6 th in the IL for batters who have at least 30 plate appearances in the month. GAME 120: The Bats (57-62) will play their 120 th game of the season on Thursday night. Last season, LOU owned a record at the 120-game mark, and with a win tonight, would match their record from last year. With 24 games left on the schedule after tonight, 13 will come on the road and 11 at home. A whopping 13 of those 24 games will come against IL West Division foe Indianapolis Indians, roughly 54% of the Bats remaining games.
