The offense only banged out four hits in the game which were the fewest in a game this season for Louisville. RHP Jackson Stephens worked the first six innings scoreless before giving up three runs in the seventh inning and being pulled from the game. He dropped to 2-2 on the season with the loss. The Bats have only one series win this season coming 4/13-4/16 at Columbus when they took three of four from the Clippers. TRANSACTIONS: RHP Rob Wooten has been activated from the 7-day disabled list for his start tonight. LHP Nick Routt has been placed on the temporarily inactive list. FAMILIAR FOES: The Clippers and Bats have already played eight games against each other this season. Louisville has the upper hand in the season series 5-3. They opened the season at LSF 4/6-4/9 where the two teams split a four-game set. Then the Bats took three of four in Columbus 4/13-4/16. The Clippers are 9-14 on the season and have dropped nine of their last 11 games. The Clippers offense leads the International League in home runs hit with 27. APRIL HITTING: The offense of the Bats collected 200 hits in the first month of the season. That is tied for second most in the International League with Columbus. Durham leads the league in total hits with 216. For Louisville the 200 hits were the most in the month of April since they collected 203 in APRIL POWER: The bats launched 15 home runs in the first month of the season. It is the fourth fewest hit in the International League. However, it is the most Louisville has hit since 2014 when the blasted 16 home runs. A year ago they only hit six in the first month. PITCHING CAROUSEL: 18 different pitchers appeared in a game for the Bats during April. Collectively they have combined to give up the second most hits (214) in the International League. It s the most hits they have given up in April since 2014 when they allowed 244. The 105 runs allowed are the most in April since 135 runs were allowed in OFFENSIVE SLOWDOWN: The Bats were 2-21 with RISP last series in Rochester. Over their 6-game road trip last week, Louisville averaged 2.6 runs per game and went 8-39 (.205) with RISP. RENDA S ROLLING: Bats INF Tony Renda is (.455) at the plate over his last six games played. Renda returned from the 7-day disabled list last Thursday night at SWB. Renda has hit safely in 12 of 14 games he has play in this season. He leads the team lead in hitting with a.327 batting average. STRUGGLING WEST: Toledo (12-10) is the only team in the IL-West with a record above.500 through the first month of the season. The Bats who are 9-14 on the season and wrapped up a six-game road trip going 2-4 sit in a tie for second place in the West with Columbus. Both the Clippers and Bats are 3.5 games out of first place. PITCHING MATCHUP:31-year old RHP Rob Wooten is making his fourth start of the season for the Bats tonight. It is his first since 4/18 vs SWB as Wooten was placed on the 7-day disabled list on 4/20. In three starts he is 1-1 with a 3.63 ERA and has lasted five or more innings in all three starts. His first start of the season was on 4/7 against this Clippers team and he picked up the win while striking out a career high 10 in six innings. 24-year old LHP Shawn Morimando is making his fifth start of the season tonight for the Clippers. He is 1-3 with a 6.65 ERA. Morimando has already faced the Bats twice this season and is 0-2 with a ERA. Over 8.2 innings against Louisville, he has given up 12 runs on 15 hits, walked eight, and struck out seven. His last start 4/26 against LHV was his best of the season tossing seven innings and allowed one run on three hits. Tonight is his first start since 4/18...was placed on the 7-Day DL 4/ Notes: Wooten spent the entire 2016 season with the Gwinnett Braves. The right-hander made a spot start against the Bats last year - his second career start - and pitched six perfect innings while striking out eight. Overall, Wooten made six starts and 29 relief appearances, but was much better as a reliever (2.98 ERA) than a starter (4.55 ERA). Career Notes: Prior to last year, the veteran pitcher spent his entire career in the Milwaukee Brewers organization since going in the 13th round of the 2008 draft. Wooten hasn t had much success in the big leagues, registering a 5.03 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 71 appearances. However, at the minor league level, Wooten has logged a 3.38 ERA in 315 games. The Veteran: After signing a minor league contract during the offseason, Wooten is now the oldest pitcher in the Reds farm system at age 31, barely ahead of 30-year-olds Louis Coleman and Lucas Luetge.
