1 INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS GAME NOTES GAME #97 / Home Game #46 Lehigh Valley IronPigs (38-57) at Indianapolis Indians (50-46) Monday, July 19, First 7:05 p.m. EDT Victory Field -- Indianapolis, Indiana IronPigs RHP Nate Bump (7-4, 2.48 ERA) vs. Indians LHP Dana Eveland (0-1, ERA) TONIGHT S TRIBE STARTER: Tonight s probable starting pitcher for Indianapolis, Dana Eveland, looks to earn his first win in his third start at the Triple-A level this season when he faces the Lehigh Valley IronPigs this evening... In his most recent start for the Tribe, a July 11 appearance against the Toledo Mud Hens, Eveland s outing was cut short by rain after he allowed two runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of work... In his first start in an Indians uniform, Eveland was strapped with the loss after allowing five runs on six hits in 2.1 innings of work in a 6-0 Indianapolis loss in game one of a doubleheader against the Louisville Bats on July 5... Eveland was originally selected by the Milwaukee Brewers organization in the 16th round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft... The left-hander made his Major League Baseball debut with the Milwaukee Brewers on July 16, 2005 and tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless work against the Washington Nationals... On November 25, 2006, Eveland was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization along with LHP Doug Davis and OF Dave Krynzel in exchange for RHPs Greg Aquino and Claudio Vargas and C Johnny Estrada... The left-hander spent one season with the Diamondbacks before he was traded to the Oakland Athletics organization along with LHPs Brett Anderson and Greg Smith and OFs Aaron Cunningham and Carlos Gonzalez in exchange for RHPs Dan Haren and Conor Robertson on December 14, Eveland then spent the seasons with Oakland before being acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays organization on February 6, 2010 for a player to be named later or cash considerations... The Pittsburgh Pirates organization acquired Eveland on June 1 for RHP Ronald Uviedo... Before being assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis, the Washington native posted a 0-1 record and a 8.38 ERA (9 ER in 9.2 IP) in three games (one start) for the Pirates... Eveland was a member of current Tribe manager Frank Kremblas 2004 Double-A Huntsville team and Kremblas 2006 Triple-A Nashville squad... Eveland has yet to face the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in his professional baseball career. TONIGHT S OPPOSING STARTER: Set to oppose Eveland in tonight s contest is IronPigs starter Nate Bump, who has squared off against the Indians once already this season... In his lone appearance against the Tribe this year, Indianapolis strapped Bump with his first loss of the season after getting to him for five runs on seven hits in five innings of work on May 2... Before facing the Indians, Bump had posted the sixth-lowest ERA in the International League at 1.80 and was nearly untouchable at Coca-Cola Park, where he had posted a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA (one unearned run) in 14.0 innings of work... Aside from his start against the Tribe, Bump has been dominant at home this season, posting a 5-2 record and a miniscule 1.69 ERA (10 ER in 53.1 IP) in nine starts... The right-hander has also posted excellent numbers on the road this season, as he has logged a 2-2 record to go along with a 3.43 ERA (17 ER in 44.2 IP) in eight starts away from home... Bump has also been impressive during night games, as he has posted a 7-2 record and a 2.01 ERA (17 ER in 76.0 IP) in 12 starts as opposed to his 0-2 record and 4.09 ERA (10 ER in 22.0 IP) in five day game starts... Before facing the Indians earlier this season, Bump turned in two dominant outings against the Tribe, recording a microscopic 0.68 ERA in 13.1 IP (1 ER) as a member of the Toledo Mud Hens in On July 12, 2009, Bump held the Indians scoreless over 7.1 innings of work to earn the victory in a 4-2 Mud Hens win... On August 27, the right-hander went six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in a no-decision in a 5-3 Indians victory. ALEX PRESLEY HAS ENTERED THE BALLPARK: Since Alex Presley was promoted to the Triple-A level on June 25, the outfielder has done nothing but impress at the plate... Presley is currently in the midst of a season-best 10-game hitting streak, during which time he has turned in a.421 batting average (16-for-38) with seven runs scored, three doubles, two triples and three RBI... The 10-game streak is the longest for Presley since he also had at least one hit in 10 consecutive contests from July 20-31, 2007 with the Hickory Crawdads, during which time he batted.422 (19-for-45) with ten runs scored, three home runs and 10 RBI... Presley also amassed a 14-game hitting streak in 2007 with the Crawdads, recording at least one base knock from June 26 to July 12. MOVE OVER FOR MOSS: Indians OF Brandon Moss had collected at least one hit in nine-straight contests, during which time he has posted a.375 batting average (15-for-40) with eight runs scored, four doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI... Moss last hitting streak of ten games or more came in 2008 when he was a member of the Pawtucket Red Sox and recorded at least one hit in 12 straight games, amassing a.408 batting average (20-for-49) with 14 runs scored, five home runs and 14 RBI from May 23 to June 3... The Indians outfielder has also been one of the most consistent contributors for the Tribe offense this season, and, among current players, he leads the team in games played (88), at-bats (320), runs scored (45), hits (82), doubles (20), home runs (12), RBI (53), total bases (140) and stolen bases (8). HOME RUN STROKE: Since Friday, July 9, OF Jonathan Van Every s four home runs tie him for the most long balls hit in the International League with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre s Chad Tracy... The four home runs are also good for the second-most blasts in all of Triple-A baseball, behind only Las Vegas J.P. Arencibia, who has five homers but has also played in two more contests than Van Every... The Indians outfielder has also strung together a six-game hitting streak, during which time he has batted.304 (7-for-23) with five runs scored, 20 total bases, one double, four home runs and nine RBI. LENDING A HAND AGAINST LEHIGH VALLEY: As a team, the Indianapolis Indians pitching staff has turned in a 3.97 ERA (15 ER in 34.0 IP) in four games against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs thus far this season... In the process, a number of Tribe pitchers has posted impressive numbers against their International League North Division opponent... In one start against Lehigh Valley, RHP Mike Crotta held the IronPigs to two earned runs on six hits in seven innings of work, while fellow right-hander Jeremy Powell one-upped Crotta s performance by tossing seven scoreless innings against Lehigh Valley on May 3... Out of the bullpen, relievers Steven Jackson, Wil Ledezma, Jean Machi and Justin Thomas have combined to limit the IronPigs to only one run in five innings of work.
