On Wednesday, May 9, Ormond Beach 2 Go! was held at The Falls Club House. OB2Go! is when the City goes on the road to bring services to residents in their community. From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. staff from Administration, Building, Engineering, Finance, Fire, IT, Leisure Services, Neighborhood Improvement, Planning, Police, Public Works, and Utilities were present to answer questions, and provide information. Residents were able to get a recycling bin, have their blood pressure checked, and register for various classes and events, and much more. We appreciate The Falls having us visit and thank the approximately 40 residents who stopped by! 3 PAGE 3 Art in The Park The 46th annual Art in the Park was held in Rockefeller Gardens on Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6. The two-day event was sold out with 100 artists and crafters, entertainment and food vendors. Arts and crafts were judged, which included a single award of $1,500 for Best in Show in the Fine Arts category. The winner will be featured on the main stage in Rockefeller Gardens in Additional judging included 1st Place $400, 2nd Place $300, Merit Award $200, Honorable Mention $100 and were awarded to four fine artists and four crafters. Best in Show: Rolly Ray Reel 3D Wall Art The Girl Scouts Art Exhibit, presented by Sunrise Community, was inside The Casements and featured multimedia pieces by 5-18 year old girls from Volusia County and Central Florida. Lining the walls of The Casements Gallery were gorgeous and unique creative pieces of art, made by girls between the ages of 5-18 from Volusia County and Central Florida. This impressive show of creativity hosted six categories to include photography, painting, drawing, sculpting, textiles, and collage. The awards presentation was held inside The Casements on Sunday. The Girl Scouts also staffed the Kids Craft Zone, where children came to make a special gift for Mother s Day. 4 PAGE 4 OB PAL Donut Dash 5K On Saturday, May 5, the Ormond Beach Police Athletic League hosted the Second Annual Donut Dash 5K. One hundred fifty-two (152) participants enjoyed a scenic course through The Trails and Tomoka Oaks neighborhoods. Krispy Kreme hosted donut stations at the beginning, middle and end of the morning race. The event received great support from businesses, community organizations and 5K enthusiasts raising $9,167 to support OBPAL youth programs. Key to the success of this event were volunteer hours given the day of the event by the Board of Directors of Ormond Beach Police Athletic League, Youth Directors Council, OBPAL basketball team parents, the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce 2018 Leadership Team, Ormond Beach police officers, and community friends of OBPAL. The event was an amazing community team effort. 6 PAGE 6 The Canine Fancy Dancers of the Obedience Club of Daytona presented the Dancing Dogs 15th Annual Spring Show at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, May 9. The show featured trained dogs and their handlers performing dance routines choreographed to music. Each year, the Canine Fancy Dancers of the Obedience Club of Daytona presents this family friendly, free show for the community. The Obedience Club is a not-for-profit organization which promotes responsible pet ownership, provides dog obedience training classes, and supports dog related charities. The Dancing Dogs Show is fun, and everyone in the audience had a great time. Bodybuilding Competition The National Gym Association Gator Classic Bodybuilding Competition was held at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 5. The competition included men s divisions for bodybuilding fitness, and physique, and women s divisions for figure and bodybuilding. Natural bodybuilders are required to comply with strict regulations that prohibit the use of any type of performance enhancing drugs, and they must submit to testing. Each competitor was judged on muscular development and posing skill before a panel of professional bodybuilding judges. The competitors enjoyed the applause of family members and friends supporting them in the audience.

7 PAGE 7 Osceola School Tour One hundred students traveled from Osceola Elementary School to tour The Casements on Wednesday, May 2, with local children's book author Marian Tomblin. Marian is a volunteer for the Ormond Beach Historical Society and gives guided history tours to a wide range of school students. The group arrived at 10:00 a.m. to tour the property and learn about the history of The Casements and the area. Marian took the children outside on a history walk over to Fortunato Park. They stopped at the former historic Ormond Hotel cupola to learn the hotel s history, then continued their journey to see a few of the historic homes. After Marian had completed her part of the tour, the children then gathered inside The Casements and took a tour with a Casements docent to hear the history on the house and view the rooms and pictures. It was a fun day learning all about the history of Ormond Beach and Mr. Rockefeller! If you are interested in learning more about Marian Tomblin s tours, feel free to visit her website: Velvet Blues Band The Warner Christian Academy Velvet Blues Band performed in concert at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 4. The school music program under the direction Mrs. Sonya Shearer includes marching, symphonic, concert, jazz, honors, and praise bands, as well as numerous ensembles for both middle school and high school. The concert delighted family members and friends with the musical skills of the students on display throughout the performance.

9 PAGE 9 PARKS The Parks staff has been hard at work painting boards on the boat ramp at Cassen Pier safety yellow with grit. At Cassen Park, concrete was added to a slab for the reinstallation of a park bench. A 4x4 post was installed for a security camera to be placed by the bee hive at the Environmental Discovery Center. A deteriorated grill was replaced at the South Ormond Neighborhood Center. With the assistance of staff from Storm Water, coquina wall pieces were delivered for the rebuilding of a wall at the McDonald House/Tennis Center parking area damaged from a motor vehicle accident. As usual, Citywide safety inspections were performed of all parks and equipment and weekly inspections were done of parks facilities for reservations. All park reservations were posted at various facilities.
