PLANNING COMMITTEE: We will hold off on a com mu nity meet ing re gard ing stra te - gic plan ning un til later in the year. GRANT COMMITTEE: Tristen has sent in the fourth quar ter sum mary for DOLA and Car ing for Col o rado. We have cur - rently spent $293, on this pro ject and still have $536, left. The CT ma chine is sched uled to be in stalled the week of Feb ru ary 14. DOLA came for a visit on Jan u ary 19 and were very pleased with the pro ject. We thought the CT tech would be cer ti fied by the end of De cem ber, but she still needs to com plete her clinicals. We are look - ing for the sec ond tech also. We must have some - one avail able 24/7 who is cer ti fied to run the CT. CREDENTIALING Dr. Knaus, Dr. Hiam and delineation of privileges for Steph a nie Green, NP, were re viewed. Med Staff ap proved priv i leges for all three. A mo tion was made by Priscilla Waggoner to ap prove all three for priv i - leges and Craig Kerfoot sec onded it. All aye. POLICIES & PROCEDURES We have the Clinic, Laun dry, Phys i cal Ther - apy and End of Life Op - tions for re view this month. We closed on Jan u ary 12, NEW BUSINESS ECU & HOSPITAL REPORT: The HCAHPS re port was re viewed. Tristen re viewed the Col - o rado Ru ral Health Cen - ter s Snap shot of Ru ral Health in Col o rado. It has a lot of good in for ma tion about ru ral Col o rado. CRHC and Col o rado Hos - pital Association both work to keep us small hospitals going. Tristen par tic i pates in the PLC meet ings ev ery other week. They are dis - cussing seven legislative is sues that may af fect ru - ral hos pi tals. Ev ery one is wel come to come lis ten in on these meet ings. They are ev ery other week on Wednes days. QA/De part ment meet - ing re viewed re ports from sev eral de part ments. Med Staff termed Dr. Santaguida s priv i leges since he no lon ger works for us. Over the last two months, we have had three med er rors, no falls and three pos si ble flus. Dr. Feinsod did four psych re views. We have a new res i dent so that brings us to 14. We will be do ing some new ad ver tis ing. In March, our ads will be on the carts at Safeway. We are still us ing ra dio and news pa per ads also. The Health Fair will be March 24 and 25. POSTING PLACE: The post ing places for 2017 will be the Post Of fice, Court house and Hos pi tal. HOSPITAL AGREEMENTS: The In - ter gov ern men tal Agree - ment for Am bu lance Ser - vices, Resolution for Li cens ing and In spec tion for Am bu lance Ser vice and Hos pi tal Ser vice Agree ment were re - viewed. A mo tion was made by Rob ert Woods to ap prove these agree - ments and Cathryn An - der son sec onded it. All aye. FACILITY: Over all we need to watch what we are spend ing. No more new pro jects un less nec - es sary. In the next few months, we will be fin ish - ing up the CT and pay ing for it. This will be a large de crease in our cash. We will also be gin pay ing wages for two CT techs. This pro ject will re quire a lot more money than we orig i nally planned. We are check ing with other agen - cies to see about ex tra grant money. We have a re cruiter look ing for a phy si cian, but no luck so far. Our new Nurse Prac ti tio ner is here and await ing her Colorado license. We need to make a de ci sion about how many pro vid - ers to keep in the Clinic at all times. If we con tinue to use locums full time along with our mid-level, this will not help with our ex - penses. Our Chronic Care pro gram at the clinic has helped keep the visit level up. We need to look at new ideas for rev e nue that do not cost a lot. We are look - ing at a trauma des ig na - tion for our ER. If we do this, we could in crease our charges and be re im - bursed ac cord ingly. This will be some thing that we work on this year. We have added the MORE pro gram at the clinic for den tal ex ams. We would also like to see more well child vis its. We would like to be in volved in any de ci - sions when the Pub lic Health con tract is up. We need to look at all ar - eas and see where we can cut some costs and make sure that each de part - ment is run ning ef fi - ciently and does not have any un nec es sary ex - penses. OTHER TELEMETRY GRANT: Wendy called into the meet ing to dis cuss ap ply - ing for a grant for a new te lem e try ma chine and a glide scope. Eunice has an EMS grant that we could use for this. Our cur rent te lem e try ma - chine is on its last leg. There is no lon ger sup - port or main te nance for this ma chine. We would like to try for a grant to help with this, so that when it does quit, we won t have to pay the whole pur chase price. The glide scope is some - thing that would be ben e - fi cial to the ER. It helps intubate pa tients. Our flight crews cur rently do this when they ar rive on scene. The te lem e try ma - chine is $80,000 and the glide scope is $20,000. If we ap ply for the fi nan cial waiver we would be re - spon si ble for 20 per cent, oth er wise we would be re - spon si ble for 50 per cent. The grant is due Feb ru - ary 13, so Wendy would like to know if she can pro - ceed with the grant ap pli - ca tion. Dis cus sion fol - lowed. We could look at other op tions for the 20 per cent. Maybe some do - na tions or other grants. Priscilla Waggoner made a mo tion to ap ply for the grant, with the stip u la tion that the 20 per cent needs to come from an other source be sides the Hos pi - tal and Syl via Shields sec - onded it. All aye. GRANT WRITER: Craig Kerfoot sug gested that maybe the Hos pi tal, County, School and Town could get to gether and hire a grant writer that could help us all out. The Board thought this was a good idea. He will talk to the other en ti - ties and see what they think. The meeting was adjourned at 9:26 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Kiowa County Hospital District Board Syl via Shields, Sec - retary-treasurer March 10, 2017 KiowaCountyPress.net 5
