2 U11 Girls Crowned National ISFA Football Champions! The U11 Girls football team travelled up to St George s Park, the home of English football, to take part in the ISFA National Finals on Monday. After qualifying in second place in the regional qualifying at Ardingly back in May, the girls came up against 11 other teams from all over the country. Before the tournament, the girls received a guided tour of England s premier training facility. The plan was for this to inspire them to victory in the afternoon
3 The Group Stages and Semi-Final In their group of 6 teams, Royal Russell remained unbeaten throughout and did not concede a goal. The results were: 0-0 draw vs Portsmouth Grammar School 1-0 win vs AKS Lytham School 1-0 win vs Forest School 0-0 draw vs The Gower Prep School 1-0 win vs Scarisbrick Hall School Having qualified top of their group, Royal Russell went through to the semi-finals to play Bede s, who had beaten the girls twice in qualifying. After a tense 10 minutes or end-to-end football, with Amy Tree making some exceptional saves, the match went to penalties. After an impressive save from the Bede s keeper, Royal Russell found themselves 1-0 down. Amy then stepped up again to make a remarkable save and Zeena and Charlotte slotted home the penalties to see the team through to the final.
4 The Final! In the final, Royal Russell faced The Gower Prep, who they had earlier drawn 0-0 with. A fine goal, saw the girls go 1-0 down earlier on. With 3 minutes left, Millie scored a fantastic equaliser to take the game to another penalty shootout. Amy, once again, forced three misses from the opposition and Zeena s decisive penalty was enough to see the girls through to historic win. Royal Russell are the first ever winners of this national tournament and the girls should be exceptionally proud of this incredible achievement.

14 Thanks for your incredible support of the Flight Centre Schools Triathlon 2017! On behalf of Restless Development we want to say another huge thank you to all pupils from Royal Russell who took part in the Flight Centre Schools Triathlon held at Royal Russell and in particular for their fantastic fundraising efforts. Overall the Schools Triathlon event series raised over 270,000, and saw over 2500 children take part over 4 events. With this incredible support, it has meant that Restless Development is able to support the ambition of more young people locally and around the world. Role models like Bawhani, who beat the odds to complete her education then took a leading role in the response to the Nepal earthquake. Pupils from Royal Russell School should be very proud of their amazing achievement as together they raised 13,175, which will be split between Restless Development and Help for Heroes. In particular, special mention should go to teams All Stars (Evan, Zac, Arthur and Harvey), Starburst (Cassandra, Amy, Yasmin and Eivie) and Conquerers (Charlotte, Lara, Rayhan and Cameron) who went above and beyond with their fundraising efforts by raising over 1000, 900 and 600 respectively. There were also some stellar individuals as well: Hanna Ratip and Jasmine Rihal who raised over 850 and 500. Extra congratulations are in order for team All Stars, as they made it into the top 5 fundraising teams from Royal Russell (from over 130 teams) and in the top 20 teams from the overall series which saw over 600 teams take part Thanks again for all your support. We are looking forward to next year s event at Royal Russell and hope you all enjoy the summer holidays. Best Wishes Schools Triathlon Team.
