1 CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA The Villages Chapter - American Singles Golf Association - December 2012 Message From The President Thanks, again, to all the folks who helped this year in our organization, Gay- Marie Odden Social Chair, Bill Breadon Golf / Championship, Priority and Ryder Cup, Jack Parker Golf / 9 and Dine, Barbara Richardson Golf / Priority, Mona Rubenstein Golf / Executive and outings, Honor Bradley Membership, Marianne Rogers Communications, Judy Empey Secretary, Myra Crosby Treasurer, Brian Mann A sst Treasurer, Barb Bonney Sunshine. Please excuse me if I forgot anyone, but there are lots of folks who also helped and volunteered behind the scenes to make this year a success. Our annual Holiday Party is this next Sunday, Dec. 9 th, and since our regularly scheduled meeting is on Christmas, we will not be having a monthly meeting this month. I hope to see all of you dressed in your Holiday attire and I m sure we will have a great time. Dinner will be catered by Vic Embers Restaurant, and our entertainment is Steve Robinson, who has en- tertained us this past year at one of our monthly gatherings. Special thanks to our incoming President, Helen Chun, and her new Social Chair, Carole Mosbaugh. They, and their other Committee Chairs, will do an outstanding job. Please give them your support and help during the next year. I have no doubt that next year will be even bigger and better, as The Villages Chapter continues to grow, and maintain its status as the best singles golf organization here at The Villages, and the largest singles Chapter in the entire 80 Chapters of the ASGA. See you on the links and hit em straight. ~Steve Westerlund I look forward to being the President of ASGA and will try my best to be a good leader. The fact we have great members who are so willing to contribute will enhance our ability to make the club one we continue to enjoy and will attract new members to the club. An early focus will be on external publicity and communications within our club. My door is always open for sug- gestions and dialog. Please take the time to communicate your suggestions to me and to the Chairs of our Committees. Thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading this club. Happy holidays to each one of you. Be safe and joyful. ~Helen Chun, President elect General Membership Meeting Minutes - November 27, 2012 Steve Westerlund, President, called the meeting to order after dinner, welcoming everyone, including several new members and guests. Please welcome new members, we need to help all new members become part of our group and learn the ropes... I can remember floundering with information overload about activities, how to sign up, and as a sea of faces, along with the sea of names, that took quite a while to connect. Friendly smiles are always welcomed. If you have not received a steady dose of my s, Please check your spam folders. Your spam filter might block these messages. I would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring peace, joy and happiness to all. Live Well. Laugh often. Love Much! ~Honor Bradley, Membership Chairperson Sunshine Person Barbara Barney is our Sunshine Person. Please contact her to advise her when you know of a member with serious health problems, entering the hospital or of a person passing, barbarabonney32@gmail.com or Upcoming Golf Events Priority Golf Thursdays: The ASGA Priority group plays in the Villages every Thursday. We tee off around noon. Following golf we enjoy dinner at the Country Club or a nearby Restaurant. In November, we played Cane Garden, Glenview and Mallory and we all enjoyed a great Thanksgiving without golf. We had several new ASGA members join us this month. If you are a priority member looking for a great group of people to play with on the Championship courses, Barbara. If you are NOT a priority member and would like to sub Barbara. You will receive an every week to sign up. All priority members will get a tee time. If there is an available tee time after our times are confirmed by the system, subs can put themselves in. Most weeks we have 1 or 2 subs that get to play... ~Barbara Richardson babsonfive@comcast.net EXECUTIVE GOLF: We have been having so much fun with our regular golfers in the 9 hole executive group. We keep seeing new faces and that too is great! Sometimes the silly games make it even more fun but there always lots of winners. We will continue to play on every Thursday (I will need someone to do the 3rd of January for me...on a cruise) and starting after the New Year we will play every other Sunday afternoon (so church goers can play) starting the 6th on January. Keep in mind, with the arrival of the snowbirds we may have to travel a little further and stretch the times we play to get tee times. I will do my very best to keep it in the core area. Also, I am already making arrangements
3 for a spring trip, probably in April. Not sure where we will go but I promise to keep it fairly close to home so it s still warm enough. We have had such great times on these trips I hope more will join us in the future. If you would like us to go somewhere special, do not hesitate to talk to me about it. I am trying to get new and different sites to visit for around 3 trips minimum a year. See you on the course very soon! ~Mona Rubenstein monaasga@comcast.net NINE & DINE at Eagle Ridge We will be at Eagle Ridge the first and third Wednesday of each month.
