1 CELEBRATING 17 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Triad Chapter - American Singles Golf Association November 2009 Chapter News October 12th meeting at OutWest Steakhouse During the business portion of our meeting last night, we conducted the following business: Re-elected Tom Loughlin as President for 2010 Nominated the following: Golf Committee Chair - Frank Dorn Membership Committee Chair- Cheryl Crook Social Committee Chair - Steve Motsinger Communication Committee Chair- Rita Davis Treasurer - Kevin Chrestman Anyone else interested in having their name placed in nomination for any of these positions should contact me prior to our meeting on November 9th. A vote will be taken at this meeting. Steve Motsinger is collecting names for the Reynolds Park outing on November 7th. The time of day for this outing is 12:45pm. In this newsletter is a flyer with more information about the New Year's Weekend outing. The balance of the money should be paid by early December. The annual Christmas party will be held on Saturday, December 12th, hosted by Chris Whitaker and me at my home located at 704 Ragsdale Road, Jamestown. Below is a flyer asking for RSVP by December 10th. ~Tom Loughlin, President October Outings Our hats off to the entire group that signed up for our annual alumni outing! Attendance was down for a number of reasons but those who participated had a great time. Our special thanks to Drew Crawford, (formerly from Maple Leaf), and staff at Olde Home Place for a well run organization. Be sure and say something to him the next time out there. Despite the threat of weather earlier in the day, we had great conditions and a lot of fun. Everyone had a chance to win something and the competition was strong. Afterwards, we had a catered meal from Little Richard's and no one went home hungry. Everyone paid their prize money and all participants were eligible. Despite having a 10 on one hole, Cheryl Crook had a North Carolina personal best of a gross 99. Kevin Chrestman had a gross 79. We only have a couple more official outings before the end of the year. Be sure to come out and support our monthly meetings and the planned events. ~Tom Loughlin, President Pudding Ridge On Sat ten hardcore golfers teed off at Pudding Ridge under off and on showers. By the 7th hole the skies cleared and the round was completed in partly sunny conditions. The winners are listed here. Closest to the pin on hole #2 was Amy Farley for women and Robin Pinnix for men. The group met at Applebees in Clemmons for food and drink after the round. (Frank was along for the ride, he is still recuperating from an automobile accident Sept 28th.) Through the end of October, 200 members have signed-up for our trip to Scotland, July 31-August 8, For as little as $2,578, you can enjoy eight days in Scotland, plenty of golf and food! St. Andrews, Scotland is no doubt the most special place on this planet for golfers. We'll stay at the beautiful Fairmont Hotel on the outskirts of St. Andrews New Year s and Golf in Orlando We were here last year and it's just the perfect venue for our group. Our annual trips for warm climates in the winter have landed us back in Orlando once again. It s really tough to beat what this city offers to golfers. Yes, we could have chosen a venue less expensive, but a vacation should feel like a vacation. This hotel will make you feel like you have arrived. It is four-star from the rooms to the pools to the on-site golf courses, quality of food, etc. Check out the hotel s website OmniOrlandoResort.com and you ll see what we mean. New Year s Day falls on a Friday this year and our event begins on Tuesday. The beauty of this is that you can arrive as many as three (3) days early and stay up to three (3) days late and it will only cost you $64 per person (based on dlb. occ.) to stay an additional night, or $128 to room by yourself. Orlando offers so much more and our online website can give you links to other things to do while there, such as visiting Mickey, SeaWorld, MGM, etc. Look for the official registration form in this newsletter, or go to the website (SinglesGolf.com/newyears) for complete details and online registration. You can also register over the phone: until noon each day. See you there! and on the edge of the North Sea then head to Edinburgh for two days. We have room for about another people. At this point, you'll only need to put 10% down. All details are at SinglesGolf.com/Scotland Did Your Chapter Hold its Elections? In October, chapters should have elected their chapter president for the 2010 calendar year beginning January 1. At the November meetings, chapters are suppose to elect their committee heads. All of this is according to your chapter bylaws ( If you have not elected your leaders for next year, please make sure you do it by the end of November.
