Rail: True Penetrometer: 5.91 STEWARDS: M F Van Gestel (Chairman), P C Dingwall, T P Moxon, D M Greer and cadet's R W Loughlin and S C Knight. ef Supplementary Reports: Wyong Wednesday 12 December 2018: Race7: Mercure Kooindah Waters Benchmark 64 Handicap 1600m: Achi Baba G Schofield was reprimanded under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for striking his mount on 9 occasions prior to the 100m. Canterbury Park Friday 14 December 2018: Race 6: Kawasaki Keiba Trophy 1100m: Star Of O'Reilly Trainer Mr B Baker was satisfied with the post-race condition of the gelding. He said that Star Of O'Reilly underwent a veterinary examination this morning which indicated the gelding was free in its action. Mr Baker was of the view that the poor performance was due to the horse travelling wide and without cover throughout the event. Race 8: Night Racing Handicap 1100m: Taniko When questioned regarding the improved performance H Bowman who rode Taniko at its previous start said that although he explained at Warwick Farm 26 November 2018 that the mare failed to handle the heavy track conditions, he said that retrospect the mare being quite unsettled during its preliminary this had an influence in Taniko performing below expectations. He said that last night Taniko was far more settled pre-race and was advantaged by being able to be ridden conservatively from a wide barrier and was aided by being able to gradually improve into the race without being pressured too early in the event. H Bowman added that whist the track at Canterbury last night was rated similarly to the Warwick Farm track, Taniko was able to race with more confidence on last nights surface and this also had a bearing on Taniko racing successful in the event. RACE 1: TAB Highway Handicap 1000m Lifesaver Began awkwardly. Rider H Bowman stated that from a wide barrier draw he elected to the ride the gelding quietly but in his opinion, Lifesaver was disappointing under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer representative Mrs K Dunn stated that in her view the gelding was not suited by the rain effected going and the stable would look to avoid racing the gelding on rain effected tracks. Mrs Dunn undertook to report back on the progress of Lifesaver in the days subsequent. Risk And Reward Rider J Collett stated that whilst he was given the option to ride the gelding quietly if it did not commence well. He said he was able to take up a forward position after Risk And Reward jumped well. He stated that in his view the tempo of the race was only moderate, however, he was unable to cross runners to his inside and as a result raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. He further added in the straight Risk And Reward was taken out by Anchois near the 250m which resulted in Risk And Reward wanting to lay in for a short distance thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Anchois Slow to begin. After being crossed by Manzana near the 700m commenced to race keenly. Approaching the 600m Manzana shifted out away from Sei Stella which resulted in Anchois improving to the inside of Manzana and then being checked from the heels of that runner for some distance. In this incident Mick The Hat which was positioned to the inside of Anchois was crowded for a short distance which resulted in Mick The Hat then racing keenly.

2 2 Mick The Hat Whilst parading behind the barrier became entangled in the barrier timing lead. Mick The Hat was examined by the Veterinary Officer and Farrier and passed fit the start. For some distance after the start became unbalanced and got its head up as the gelding showed signs it was attempting to buck. Trainer Mr B Cavanough was advised that warning would be recorded on the gelding's record. Mr Cavanough advised Mick The Hat would now be spelled. Destiny s Reward Began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by Sei Stella which shifted out. Overraced in the middle stages and near the 600m shifted out and away from Anchois resulting in Tobermory shifting out away from that runner. Embezzlement Laid out under pressure in the straight. Tobermory Began only fairly. RACE 2: Summer Racing Handicap 1100m Mad For Art Pulled hard in the early and middle stages and refused to settle. Dio D Oro Near the 300m when inclined to lay in made contact with Gongs (J Collet) which after being held up, shifted out. A short distance later Dio D'Oro was placed in restricted room when Deprive shifted in slightly. J Collett was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Mister Songman Raced wide and without cover from the 700m. Sedition Near the 200m was steadied when crowded by Mad For Art (App J Van Overmeire) which shifted in. App J Van Overmeire was reprimanded under AR137(a) and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than what he did on this occasion. Deprive From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Gongs Was badly held up in the straight and could not be fully tested. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a laceration to the near hind coronary band. Connemara Raced wide and without cover throughout the race. Ready To Prophet A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be 1/5 lame in the near hindleg. Stable representative Mr N Paine was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Ready To Prophet being permitted to race again. Military Zone From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. San Pierre Stewards permitted J Morris to ride the gelding 1kg over its allotted weight of 53kg. After being fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no other abnormalities other than the gelding shifted its near fore-plate and lost its off-hind plate. RACE 3: Catanach s Handicap 1200m Smart Amelia Slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between Sweet Scandal and Our Malambo which was taken in by Regimen. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Savvan Raced wide and without cover for the major part of the race. Near the 200m was shifted in and away from Star Reflection and made contact with Gibraltar Girl. Inside the 200m Savvan was crowded when Star Reflection shifted in. Inside the 50m Savvan was then shifted to the outside of Star Reflection to secure clear running. Charlayne Was ridden conservatively in the early stages. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Regimen Raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

3 3 RACE 4: Christmas Cup 2400m (Listed) Wall Of Fire A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be 1/5 lame in the near hindleg. Stable representative Ms A Neasham was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Wall Of Fire being permitted to race again. The Bandit Began only fairly and from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Heartlet Rider A Adkins stated that in his view Heartlet was unsuited by having to lead and may not have coped with the step up in grade of today's race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr K Parker confirmed Heartlet would now be spelled. Dress Rehearsal Stood flat-footed as the start was affected and lost ground (3L) RACE 5: Inglis Nursery 1000m (Listed) Strasbourg Slow to begin and from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Hung out on the home turn and laid out under pressure in the home straight. Aeecee Vinco Raced wide and without cover throughout the race. On straightening was hampered when taken out by Touch Of Paradise when that runner shifted ground. Enforcement Raced greenly in the straight when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be slow to recover. Off To Moe s Despite being ridden along in the middle stages did not muster speed. Stralex Shortly after the start was bumped by Touch Of Paradise. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying cardiac arrythmia. Stable representative Mr J Bruce advised that Stralex would now be spelled. Notwithstanding this advice Mr Bruce was advised that before being permitted to race a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG would be required prior to the filly having to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Namimo Near the 800m was steadied when crowded between Accession and Enforcement (J McDonald) which shifted in when not clear. J McDonald was advised exercise more care and to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. In accessing penalty Stewards took into account that after crowding Namimo he immediately straightened his mount to relieve the crowding. Stellar Blaze Slow to begin. Aladaala Shifted out on jumping and bumped Stronger. Touch Of Paradise Soon after the start blundered and became unbalanced. Rider M Walker stated that after showing good early speed he endeavoured to restrain his mount once it had obtained a position outside the lead. He said that as he commenced to do so Touch Of Paradise resented his actions and from this point hung out. He said that after making the home turn awkwardly Touch Of Paradise continued to race ungenerously before weakening in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slow to recover. The Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of the filly in the days subsequent. RACE 6: Razor Sharp Handicap 1200m (Listed) Deploy When questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider G Schofield stated that although the gelding was obliged to travel wide and without cover, he was disappointed with its finishing effort in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other then gelding lost its near fore plate. Burning Passion Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Firsthand Laid in in the straight.

4 4 Marsupial Began only fairly. Rider K McEvoy stated that the gelding did not travel well in the run and was a beaten horse soon after entering the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Cradle Mountain Rider J Collett stated that his intention was to lead but when Fell Swoop showed superior pace in the early stages and when his mount did not travel as strongly as it has done previously, he elected to maintain racing to the outside of Fell Swoop. J Collett further stated that in his opinion Cradle Mountain was not comfortable on today's soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a minor laceration to its near hind fetlock during the race. RACE 7: Fugen Construction Villiers Stakes 1600m (Group 2) Duca Valentinois Slow to begin Grande Rosso Raced wide and without cover throughout the race. Over the final 100m could not be fully tested when held up on the heels of Gaulois. My Nordic Hero From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Interlocuter Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was deemed suitable to race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be 1/5 lame in the near hindleg. Stable representative Mr D Beadman was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Interlocuter racing again. Satono Rasen Near the 150m was steadied from the heels of Interlocuter. Doubt Defying Was hampered on jumping by Interlocuter which shifted in. Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed. Goodfella Stewards permitted A Hyeronimus to ride the horse 0.5kg over its allotted weight of 53.5kg. Articus Slow to begin. M Walker rider of Doubt Defying pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Articus, resulting in Articus having to checked. Further he continued to allow his mount to shift in when not clear of Interlocuter near the 150m resulting in Interlocuter being steadied and losing its rightful running. M Walker's license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 23 December 2018 and to expire on Wednesday 2 January 2019 on which day he may ride. Aloisia From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. RACE 8: Total Construction Handicap 1600m Drochaid From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Plaisir Raced wide and without cover throughout the race. Pelethronius From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early stages. So You Win From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. After being briefly held up on straightening proved reluctant to shift to the outside of Plaisir and did not obtain clear running until the 300m. RACE 9: Australian Turf Club Handicap 1400m Berdibek Slow to begin (3L). Approaching the 600m Mr Tickets which was racing keenly was checked from the heels of King Tomlola. Our Belisa which was following, was checked to avoid the heels of Mr Tickets, shifted out resulting in Drachenfels being taken out across the running of Berdibek which had to be checked when crowded between Drachenfels and Campari which was also hampered. On straightening was disappointed for clear running between Charlie Chap and Campari and did not obtain clear running until the 300m. Drachenfels After being slow to begin was hampered shortly after the start when crowded between Mr Tickets and Regent which shifted in. Laid in in the straight.

5 5 Kool Vinnie A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrythmia. Stable representative Mr L Miller was advised that before being permitted to race a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG would be required prior to the gelding having to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. King Tomlola Raced keenly in the middle stages. Mr Tickets Trainer Mr M Newnham was fined the sum of $100 under AR140A for presenting the gelding with blinkers when that was gear not approved. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Our Belisa Slow to begin (3L). Near the 1000m when racing keenly was steadied from the heels of Mr Tickets, shifted out and hampered Drachenfels. Super Star Bob For some distance approaching the 600m raced tight to the inside of Mercurial Lad and when the pace steadied Super Star Bob became crowded between Mercurial Lad and King Tomlola which after being crossed by Penske raced fiercely and refused to settle. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a minor laceration to the near hind heel. Mercurial Lad Raced wide and without cover throughout the race. Campari Reared as the start was effected and lost ground (4L). A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be in season. Budderoo Knight Raced keenly in the middle stages. General: Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii). Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken.
