G Schofield was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. LATE RIDING CHANGES: As K McEvoy was indisposed due to a traffic incident, the following rider substitutions were permitted by the Stewards: Race 2 Race 3 Bring The Magic K O Hara Glamour Factor J Collett RACE 1 Australian Turf Club Plate 1100m Hostwin Supreme began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Golden Shoulder slow to begin. Stardome slow to begin and then was crowded on jumping between Golden Shoulder and Hostwin Supreme, both of which shifted ground. When questioned, H Bowman, rider of Stardome, which was having its first race start today, explained that after beginning only fairly, his mount was unable to match the early speed of the race and settled some lengths behind the field. He said that Stardome came under pressure approaching the 600m, and whilst the colt did not initially respond to his riding, Stardome commenced to improve gradually approaching and rounding the home turn. H Bowman added that whilst Stardome was somewhat one paced in the early part of the straight, the colt, when under pressure closed the race off satisfactorily and in the circumstances, he was pleased with Stardome s performance today. Trainer Mr C Waller said that the colt s greenness and lack of race experience were factors that lead to Stardome travelling at the rear of the field, adding that he was more than satisfied with the colt's performance today. Passing the 100m, Stardome was shifted out to avoid the heels of Hostwin Supreme, which was tiring. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 2 ANZ Bloodstock News Handicap 1400m Zenardini the Stewards permitted T Clark to ride the filly half a kilogram over its allotted weight of 53kg. Zenardini was slow to begin. Ranier slow to begin. From the outside barrier, was shifted in behind runners in the early stages.

2 Bring The Magic was bumped on jumping by Select Royal, which shifted in resulting in both horses becoming momentarily unbalanced. Live The Moment blundered near the 1000m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Kolding near the 900m, was steadied and got its head on the side when awkwardly placed on the heels of Bring The Magic. Kolding then shifted out and made contact with Matowi, which resulted in that horse then travelling wide without cover thereafter. After the 700m, Kolding was left racing wide and without cover. Over the final 100m, Kolding laid in under pressure. Select Royal after the 400m, commenced to hang, shifted out, inconveniencing Kolding and Matowi. Matowi then shifted out away from Kolding on the point of the turn and bumped Ranier, which became unbalanced. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Matowi passing the 200m, got its head on the side, commenced to hang and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider, H Bowman initially carrying Kolding in. Kolding then shifted in away from Matowi, resulting in Nordic Lover having to be checked when crowded onto the hindquarters of Zenardini, which itself became unbalanced. As the Stewards were satisfied that H Bowman had made sufficient effort to correct his mount, the Stewards did not proceed with any action other than to bring the racing manners of Matowi to the attention of trainer Mr C Waller. Nakeeta Jane when under pressure after the 200m, commenced to race greenly and shift in. RACE 3 TAB Rewards Plate 1100m Repute slow to begin. Repute hung in in the straight. Unguarded slow to begin. From a wide barrier was shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Unguarded, on straightening until approximately the 200m, when commencing to close the race off well, was shifted out to continue into clear running. Lady Lucienne slow to begin. Not A Zin Zan from the outside barrier was shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Glamour Factor passing the 800m, became unbalanced when being steadied to avoid the heels of Show Some Leg, which shifted in when not quite clear. R Hutchings was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground. Show Some Leg hung out approaching the home turn. Passing the 200m, Show Some Leg, when racing greenly, was bumped by Repute and then was shifted out away from that runner. General: Following the running of this race, when the Club s ambulance officers had to attend to a barrier attendant, the remaining races were rescheduled to commence as follows: Race 4: 3.10pm Race 5: 3.45pm Race 6: 4.20pm Race 7: 4.55pm Race 8: 5.25pm RACE 4 Hyland Race Colours Handicap 2200m High Bridge which made contact with the rear gates whilst being loaded into the barriers, was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and deemed suitable to race. A post race veterinary examination revealed High Bridge to have lost its near hind plate.

3 Keep Up from the outside barrier, was shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Cormac from a wide barrier was shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Cormac was held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Rounding the home turn, Cormac proved reluctant to shift to the outside of Keep Up to obtain clear running. Another Snappy throughout the early and middle stages, raced fiercely, got its head up on a number of occasions and proved reluctant to settle for its rider, K Adams. Takewing K Adams (Another Snappy) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that leaving the straight on the first occasion, she permitted her mount to shift in at an acute angle when not clear of Takewing causing that gelding to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled and having to be steadied. K Adams licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Tuesday, 25 September 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 4 October 2018 on which day she may ride again. K Adams was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in when not clear of Takewing near the 200m, resulting that gelding being crowded. Flagpoles a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 5 The Agency Real Estate Handicap 1200m Zin Zan Elsie knuckled on jumping. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Moccasin Miss was crowded on jumping between Kopite and Ridicule, which shifted out. Near the 850m, Moccasin Miss was inconvenienced by Kopite, which after being initially taken in slightly by Jen Rules, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. When Jen Rules shifted out to alleviate the tightening, O So Hazy, which was following, was hampered as a consequence. Moccasin Miss had difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 200m whereby it shifted to the outside of Invictum Domina. Velocita slow to begin. Dolly's Due slow to begin. Blowing Kisses slow to begin and then shortly after the start was bumped by Alnaas, which shifted in. Jen Rules raced wide and without cover throughout the event. O So Hazy when questioned, App B McDougall explained that he had been asked to ride the horse conservatively today. He added that he had been advised by the trainer that the horse, at its most recent start after beginning well, raced too keenly in the lead. He said that in order to have O So Hazy finish its race off today, it was decided to ride the horse with cover. App McDougall said, however that during the early and middle stages, due to the composition of the field, he was unable to secure a position close to the running rail and after the 600m, he was left racing wide and without cover and further back in the field than anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr S Spackman confirmed the instructions issued. He said it was not the intention to have O So Hazy lead at its most recent start, and he had hoped today that the filly might be able to settle behind the leaders. Mr Spackman was reminded of his obligations to notify the Stewards of any change of riding tactics in future. Little Red Shoes when questioned, App P Scorse explained that he had anticipated racing prominently, however he had been under explicit instructions by the trainer to achieve this without making use of the mare. He added that it was anticipated that Little Red Shoes would use its natural gate speed to race near the lead. He added that in the early stages, Little Red Shoes did not show its customary early speed and having regard to his instructions, he did not pressure Little Red Shoes and as the filly was unable to muster it settled further back than intended. Trainer Mr J Coyle confirmed the instructions issued to App Scorse. He said he was disappointed that Little Red Shoes

4 was unable to muster in the early stages and having regard to its failure to travel prominently, he would now spell the mare. Ridicule App S Weatherley explained that after approaching 200m, the mare commenced to hang in whilst racing behind Ellie s Encore. He said that approaching and rounding the home turn, the degree to which Ridicule was hanging increased. He said that after straightening, he became concerned with the action of Ridicule and for this reason, he eased the mare out of the race over the final 200m. Trainer Mr B Widdup stated that there had been no adverse issues with Ridicule in the lead up to today's race and he expressed concern with the manner in which Ridicule weakened over the final stages of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the mare was mildly lame (1 out of 5) in the off fore leg. The Stewards deemed the performance to be unacceptable and advised Mr Widdup that before Ridicule be permitted to race again, the mare must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and a veterinary clearance must be produced. RACE 6 Everest Carnival Sprint 1100m Rafha s Choice slow to begin. Esperance slow to begin Chalk slow to begin. Shortly after the start, Chalk was hampered by Rafha s Choice and as a result was taken out and made contact with Sausalito. Chalk, in the early part of the straight, raced in restricted room to the inside of Sanglier. Then for some distance approaching the 200m, raced tight between Sanglier and Our Dasha, which shifted out away from Super Ex. Our Dasha raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Inanup was held up on the heels of Super Ex until approaching the 200m. T Berry (Super Ex) was reprimanded for permitting his mount, near the 150m, to shift in when not clear of Inanup, which had to be steadied. Super Ex approaching the winning post, became awkwardly placed close to the heels of Chabreet, which was laying out under pressure and shifted out slightly. As a result, Super Ex was not ridden out to the finish of the race. Military Machine when questioned, rider B Avdulla said that whilst he was under no specific instructions, he did anticipate travelling in a midfield position. He said Military Machine began satisfactorily and when the race was run at a genuine tempo, he elected to take up a position behind the eventual winner, Esperance. B Avdulla added that Military Machine, after shifting to the outside of that horse in the straight, failed to close the race off. Sanglier a post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be slow to recover. RACE 7 On Top Of The World Mile 1600m Ardanza began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and lost ground. Bold and Groovy slow to begin. Smart Ain't He made the crossing very awkwardly at the 1400m, got its head on the side and shifted out making contact with Hirokin, taking that horse wider for a short distance. B Avdulla said that his mount, which was stepping up in distance today, raced too keenly throughout the early and middle stages whilst leading the event and he expressed the view that the gelding resented the Norton Bit. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr E Cummings undertook to remove the Norton Bit after concurring with the views of B Avdulla and advised that it will be his intention to race the gelding over a shorter distance at its next start. Although there was no veterinary issues with Smart Ain t He, having regard to the manner in which the gelding compounded over the final 200m, Mr Cummings was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before Smart Ain t He would be permitted to race again.

5 Cambage raced ungenerously for some distance after the 1200m and was inclined to travel keenly. From on straightening until approaching the 250m, Cambage was awkwardly placed on the heels of Hirokin. Mo The Great raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Newtown Bluebag App J Van Overmeire (Mo The Great) was reprimanded for permitting his mount, which was laying in, from shifting in further resulting in Newton Bluebag having to be steadied near the 150m. RACE 8 #Theraces Handicap 1400m Highway shortly after the start, had to be steadied when crowded between Magicaz and Spring Creek Star, which shifted out. Magicaz bumped on jumping by Highway, which shifted out. Magicaz raced wide and without cover throughout. Desert Lord slow to begin. Approaching the 1200m, Desert Lord got its head up, proved difficult to settle when being restrained off the heels of Aqua D Ivina and continued to race in this manner throughout the middle stages. Aqua D Ivina on straightening, Spring Charlie shifted out briefly and in doing so, caused Aqua D Ivina to be carried wider. Aqua D Ivina then shifted out of its own accord away from Spring Charlie. Smooth Whiskey travelled keenly for a short distance after the 900m when racing close to the heels of Spring Charlie. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Golden Hits when questioned, T Angland explained he had been asked to ride the horse in a midfield position today if possible. He said that Golden Hits, after beginning well, was positioned wide and without cover. He said in an endeavour to take up a position closer to the running rail, he allowed Golden Hits to gradually improve and ultimately he settled prominently in the early stages. He said that he was able to achieve this position without having to make use of the gelding and when ridden in this manner, Golden Hits finished the race off strongly. Spring Creek Star when questioned, R King explained that as is customary, she was asked to lead on the gelding. She said, however throughout the middle stages, the horse raced keenly despite her efforts to have it settle. R King stated that although, in the circumstances, she was endeavouring to rate the gelding at a more even tempo, Spring Creek Star set a much faster tempo than was desirable. Andaz when questioned, H Bowman stated that Andaz did not feel entirely comfortable when racing between runners during the early and middle stages. He said that although he had a favourable trailing position behind Aqua D Ivinia, the gelding performed below expectations today when failing to respond to his urgings in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. GENERAL: Summary of whip use The Stewards noted the following rider exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii): Race 7 J McDonald (Realise Potential) 6 strikes

6 Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken. Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Fortification, Golden Shoulder (2). Race 2: Rainer (2), Nordic Lover, Nakeeta Jane, Bring The Magic. Race 3: Not A Zin Zan, Repute, Unguarded. Race 4: White Boots, Keep Up (2), Iron Duke, Takewing, Flagpoles, Lamma Hilton. Race 5: Ridicule, Kopite, Invictum Domina, Jen Rules, Moccasin Miss. Race 6: Esperance, Military Machine, Inanup, Sausalito, Up Trumpz. Race 7: Realise Potential (2), Excelsior, Mo The Great, Cambage, Smart Ain t He, Hirokin, Don Pellegrino. Race 8: Aqua D Ivina, Magicaz, Spring Creek Star.
