5 RACE REPORTS RACE 1 WINNER BLACK DAKOTA( 4 ) WELCOME TO NEWCASTLE GREYS STAKES 4/5 GRADE 400M BLACK DAKOTA( 4 ) jumped smartly and led throughout. ZIPPING ABBOT( 8 ) began poorly, losing ground at the start. BRUCEY MARLOW( 2 ) raced wide approaching the turn into the back straight, checking ALL PAWS( 7 ), and PAW WARREN( 9 ), which both lost ground, hampering ZIPPING ABBOT( 8 ). STORMY DUCHESS( 5 ) began to yield ground when racing prominently, from approaching the turn out of the back straight, and continued to concede ground for the remainder of the race, racing wide at the home turn, and in the home straight. In two separate incidents approaching the turn into the back straight, ROCKET RIDE( 1 ) raced wide checking MACK QUAY( 3 ), and NERVES OF STEEL( 5 ) also raced wide, checking SIMONIC DRIVE( 7 ). SIMONIC DRIVE( 7 ) was checked off the heels of ALDO KEEPING( 4 ) approaching the turn out of the back straight, losing ground. ROCKET RIDE( 1 ) raced wide approaching the home turn, losing ground. NERVES OF STEEL( 5 ), and SIMONIC DRIVE( 7 ) came together at the home turn when racing at the rear of the field. ALDO KEEPING( 4 ), and KIDDING ME( 6 ) came together in the home straight. 7 RACE 3 NEWCASTLE COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION STAKES 5 TH GRADE 400M WINNER FERNANDO S POINT( 4 ) CRYSTAL DRIVE( 1 ) began quickly. CHINA ROB( 3 ), ESSEE MACKIE( 5 ), and ALDERLEY ROX( 9 ) came together at the first turn, with all three runners losing ground, CHINA ROB( 3 ) worst affected. ALDERLEY ROX( 9 ) was checked off the heels of GAMBETH( 8 ) approaching the turn out of the back straight, losing further ground. FAB MULWEE( 6 ) galloped on the back of CRYSTAL DRIVE( 1 ) approaching the turn out of the back straight. MISS ALL QUALITY( 7 ) appeared to go amiss at the turn out of the back straight, disorganising the field when yielding ground, inconveniencing CRYSTAL DRIVE( 1 ), ESSEE MACKIE( 5 ), FAB MULWEE( 6 ), and GAMBETH( 8 ), which all suffered varying degrees of interference, ESSEE MACKIE( 5 ) worst affected, racing very wide at the home turn. MISS ALL QUALITY( 7 ) continued to lose ground for the remainder of the race, finishing a distant last. ELCARIM( 2 ) galloped over the heels of POINT AND RUN( 4 ) at the first turn, racing wide checking FEDERAL EXPRESS( 7 )and NO PHOTOS( 8 ), causing all three runners to lose ground. SKETCHY FEVER( 3 ) went amiss running through the catching pen hampering WILD JIMMY( 5 ), and JOSIE S PRIDE( 6 ), with JOSIE S PRIDE( 6 ) losing ground from this incident. Shortly after, SKETCHY FEVER( 3 ) pulled up and failed to finish. WILD JIMMY( 5 ) checked POINT AND RUN( 4 ) in the home straight. SKETCHY FEVER( 3 ) was vetted and was found to be injured in the off side hip support, and fractured off side metatarsal. 42 Days Incapacitation Certificate issued. Stewards spoke to the trainer of WILD JIMMY( 5 ) regarding his greyhounds actions in the home straight. Whilst of the belief only shoulder contact had occurred, Stewards had concerns with the manner with which WILD JIMMY( 5 ) had run outwardly onto POINT AND RUN( 4 ). In taking no further action, Stewards advised trainer M Smith that the greyhounds future performances will be closely monitored. The winner of this event STICKY NICKY( 1 ) was locked away for a Urine Sample to be obtained due to the improved performance.
