As a result of this Home Run Hero then became unbalanced, knuckled and lost ground.

2 Profit Share over-raced in the early and middle stages. Cuban Fighter was checked to avoid the heels of Home Run Hero at the 800m. Heavy raced wide without cover. After passing the 300m Total Control, which was making ground, was then held up for some distance for clear running until near the 100m. Post race endoscopy of Roundabout detected a degree of mucus / mucopus that may have affected the colt s racing performance and trainer Mr Peter Moody was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to Roundabout racing again. Nick Hall (Crafty) stated that in his opinion the filly would be better suited to a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination of Crafty revealed no abnormalities. Race 2 A R CRESWICK SERIES HEAT metres: Melrose Place jumped awkwardly. Under The Louvre was held up for clear running from the 400m until near the 200m. Majestic Cheval was checked to avoid the heels of Allez Eagle (NZ) at the 300m, which had hung in. Approaching the 200m Allez Eagle (NZ) had to be checked to avoid the heels of The Monstar which was shifting in. The Monstar then shifted out abruptly when racing greenly. Whilst the Stewards accepted that The Monstar was racing greenly, rider Jye McNeil was reprimanded for failing to make a greater effort to straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. Jye McNeil (The Montstar) reported the gelding wanted to over-race in the early stages whilst he was attempting to restrain The Monstar off the pace. Michael Walker (Allez Eagle (NZ) reported that the gelding did not race truly down the straight. A post race veterinary examination of Allez Eagle (NZ) revealed no abnormalities. Thomas Sadler, rider of Under The Louvre, reported that the colt may be better suited around a bend. A post race veterinary examination of Under The Louvre failed to reveal any abnormalities. Dean Yendall (Hay One) reported the gelding raced greenly and would benefit from the experience. A post race veterinary examination of Hay One revealed the gelding to have pharyngitis. Race 3 BRIAN BEATTIE HANDICAP metres: Prior to the start of Race 1 connections advised that Gold Cufflinks would be ridden off the speed today. Gold Cufflinks led by a good margin and weakened in the straight. Rider Mark Pegus stated after the race that he was unable to restrain the colt. Runhardt was slow to begin. Dig A Pony began awkwardly and was then hampered by French Hussler which had shifted in. No Equivalent (NZ) was slow to begin.

3 Approaching the 1400m Pharrell (NZ) had to be steadied when tightened for room by Speed Gonzales, which had been taken in by French Hussler, which was taken in by Kareeming, which in turn was taken in by Gold Cufflinks (Mark Pegus) which shifted in when going forward. Mark Pegus was reprimanded. Near the 1300m Pit Boss had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Second Bullet which had shifted in. After passing the 1200m Good Music shifted in to gain some cover behind Pit Boss. This caused some tightening to Refulgent which had to be restrained, shifted in and inconvenienced Kwanza. Chris Symons (Good Music) was issued with a severe reprimand for permitting his mount to shift in when not clear of Refulgent. At the top of the home straight at approximately the 500m, Dig A Pony shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped Pit Boss which in turn made contact with Good Music which got unbalanced, shifted out and inconvenienced No Equivalent. Zebrinz was held up for clear running from straightening until passing the 200m and near the 300m had to be checked when disappointed for running between French Hussler and Kwanza which had shifted out. Ben Melham could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of Second Bullet. After the running of the race the RV veterinary surgeon reported Second Bullet had a nasal discharge and recommended that the stable submit a veterinary clearance and have the colt undergo an endoscopic examination prior to racing again. Chris Symons (Good Music) was of the view that the filly would be better suited ridden closer however was also of the view that it failed to run out the 1600m of today s event. A post race veterinary examination of Good Music revealed the filly had sustained an injury to its off fore knee and trainer Mr Shane Fliedner was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to Good Music racing again. Race 4 BANJO PATERSON SERIES HEAT metres: Sacred Flyer (NZ) over-raced and got its head up on several occasion passing the 2000m due to the slow pace. Rider Chris Symons reported the slow tempo of the race did not suit the gelding and that his instructions were specific prior to the race to have his mount fifth or sixth, even in the likelihood on paper that the race lacked early speed. Post race endoscopy of Sacred Flyer (NZ) detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horse s racing performance and trainer Mr Chris Waller was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to Sacred Flyer (NZ) racing again. A post race swab sample was also taken from the gelding. Crafty Cruiser, first placegetter, raced three wide without cover throughout. Post race endoscopy of Hannaford detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horse s racing performance. The RV veterinary surgeon also reported the gelding was lame in front and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Post race veterinary examination of Supremacy (NZ) identified the presence of blood at both nostrils. Supremacy (NZ) shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months thereafter; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of a Steward. The track was upgraded from Dead 4 to Good 3 at 2.32pm after the running of this race. Race 5 DAVID BOURKE PROVINCIAL PLATE metres: Grand Allowance was slow to begin.

4 Harveys True Heart began awkwardly and made contact with Flyingconi and as a result of this was slow into stride and despite the efforts of Dale Smith to be in a more prominent position was unable to race closer Thumbtacks (NZ) raced three wide without cover. Faith n Belief, which was giving ground quickly rounding the home turn, then shifted out abruptly resulting in Grand Allowance having to be checked to avoid that horse s heels near the 450m. Tristram s Sun (NZ) hung in in the straight. Dean Yendall (Aeratus) was fined $300 for using his whip seven times forehand prior to the 100m. Nick Hall, rider of Charmed Harmony, reported that the gelding was not suited to today s firm track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of Charmed Harmony revealed the gelding to have a slower than normal recovery and had the thumps and swab sample was taken for analysis. Stewards will follow up with the stable in the coming days as to how the gelding has pulled up. James Winks reported something may be amiss with Faith n Belief. A subsequent veterinary examination of Faith n Belief revealed the gelding had a slower than normal recovery and had cast its near hind plate. Race 6 VRC-CRV WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES HEAT metres: After the running of Race 1 connections advised that Constant Force would be ridden closer today if circumstances permit. Settled mid-field and raced wide. Near the 1300m Vizhaka and Said Com (NZ) were both crowded for room and lost their positions between Anlon, which shifted in, and Durnford which shifted out. Lord Of Brazil (NZ) raced wide in the early and middle stages. Harry Coffey, rider of Jimando, reported the gelding over-raced in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination of Jimando revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg and trainer Mr Tony McEvoy was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to Jimando racing again. Post race endoscopy of Anlon detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the gelding s racing performance. The RV veterinary surgeon also reported that Anlon was lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Race 7 ALL VICTORIAN SPRINT SERIES HEAT metres: Rain Fast began awkwardly and was then tightened for room between General Truce and Doubtfully which both shifted ground. Shortly after the start Felidea was steadied when crowded for room by The Thief which shifted in. Apprentice Jye McNeil (Rain Fast) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 150m, whilst riding it along, when insufficiently clear of Felidea resulting in that horse being checked. In issuing the charge the Stewards acknowledge there was a slight shift from the inside from Al Aneed. Jye McNeil had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight June 30 and to expire at midnight July 9, a total of nine race meetings (two metropolitan, seven provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards

5 took into account Jye McNeil s guilty plea and good record and that the careless riding was in the midrange and also the slight shift from Al Aneed. A post race veterinary examination of Don t Get Excited failed to reveal any abnormal findings and a swab sample was taken for analysis. Post race veterinary examination of Pampelonne identified the presence of blood at both nostrils. Pampelonne shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months thereafter; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of a Steward. Race 8 LEILANI SERIES HEAT metres: Prior to correct weight Linda Meech rider of Galway Warrior, second placegetter, lodged an objection against Nautical being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference from the 600m until the 400m. On the evidence it was established that after passing the 600m Galway Warrior was taken wider on the track as a result of a shift from Nautical and on the point of the home turn near the 500m, both Nautical and Galway Warrior came together after Nadhima had improved to the outside of Balaclava Lady which shifted out slightly. The Stewards were of the view that prior to the incident on the point of the home turn that the amount of ground Galway Warrior had lost in comparison to the half length margin between the two horses at the finish did not warrant an alteration to the placings and therefore dismissed the objection. Jackie Beriman (Nautical) was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift ground at the expense of another runner and Dale Smith (Nadhima) was notified to exercise more care after attempting a run where there was doubtful room. Nautical and Nadhima were both slow to being. Sinhala raced three wide without cover. Near the 1200m Nautical was steadied when tightened for room by Junoesque which shifted in slightly. Lady Melksham got its head up when being restrained to avoid the heels of Reckless Assassin near the 1000m. Katelyn Mallyon (Sinhala) advised her mount over-raced in the early stages and appreciates more give in the ground. A post race veterinary examination of Sinhala failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis and Stewards will follow up with the stable in the coming days. Daniel Moor (Junoesque) stated that the mare was unable to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight however after obtaining clear running ran on fairly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and the Stewards will follow up with the stable in the coming days. General Michael Walker pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR83(a) for consuming alcohol in the jockeys room prior to the meeting being concluded. Michael Walker was fined $300.
