Topping the list is former 2016 champion Dominic Thiem, who faces Argentina's own Horacio Zeballos in the day's final match on Court Guillermo Vilas. The only previous meeting between the two players came on the clay of Roland Garros in 2017, with Thiem conceding only five games in three sets to claim the win. Zeballos, a former quarter-finalist here in 2010, looks to end the Austrian's 5-0 win streak in Buenos Aires and notch his first clay win of the season. After earning a bye in the first round, three-time quarter-finalist and No. 3 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain opens his campaign on Wednesday against Aljaz Bedene. The two have met three times at the Challenger level over the past eight years, but this is their first meeting at the ATP Tour level. Ramos-Vinolas is appearing in his eighth straight main draw appearance in Buenos Aires and carries a 9-7 record here. No. 8 seed Fernando Verdasco kicks off play Wednesday against Guido Pella of Argentina for their first career meeting. Both men are hoping to reach the third round in Buenos Aires for the first time. No. 5 Diego Schwartzman of Argentina and qualifier Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil are fighting for the same feat, having never surpassed the second round in four tries. They will contest their fourth Tour-level meeting on clay, two of which have favored Schwartzman.
