Graham (1-1, 2.50) takes the mound for the Braves against Stars right-hander Ariel Pena (1-2, 5.51). LAST TIMe OUT: The Huntsville Stars proved to be too much for the Mississippi Braves on Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium, scoring 13 runs on 16 hits to take the series opener Huntsville (9-12) plated four runs in the bottom of the third inning on three Braves errors to erase an early Braves 1-0 lead, and they never looked back. Mike Lee (2-1) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs, only three earned, over 4.2 innings. Ryan Woolley allowed five more runs in the sixth to help the Stars grow a 12-2 lead through five frames. Jimmy Nelson (3-0) earned the win for Huntsville, allowing just two runs, one earned, on four hits in six innings. Mark Rogers allowed three runs in the seventh as part of his major league rehab. eric Marzec also allowed three runs in the ninth in relief. The Braves battled, scoring six runs over the final three innings to pull to within five, but they got no closer. Dan Brewer had a good day at the plate, posting four hits on the day and driving in two. Phil Gosselin also had two hits, scoring twice on the evening. Huntsville got most of its offensive output from the middle of the order. Nine of the 16 total hits and 10 of the 13 runs came from Jason Rogers, Kentrail Davis and Brock Kjelgaard. Davis and Kjelgaard hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning to help put the game away. LeAGUe LeADeRS: Jose Martinez enters this five-game series with the fifth-best batting average in the Southern League at.313. Christian Marrero ranks second in the league with 16 walks and ranks tied for the league lead in doubles (7). Marrero also has a.421 on-base percentage (5th). LHP Alex Wood s 0.82 era leads the Southern League, his 0.82 WHIP ranks fourth and his 25 strikeouts is tied for second-best. ONe-RUN AFFAIRS: 11 of the first 20 games for the M-Braves have been one-run affairs. Mississippi is 7-4 in those games. All five games in the series against the Generals (4/15-19) were one-run games and nine of the first 10 games at Trustmark Park have been one-run affairs. In its nine-year history, the M-Braves have averaged over 48 one-run games each season. The most in one season occurred in 2009 when the Double-A Braves played 58 one-run games (29-29). WALK-OFFS: The M-Braves walked off in three straight games, 4/17-19 vs JXN. On 4/17, the Braves entered the ninth inning down 2-1. Jaime Pedroza tied the game with a RBI-double and Phil Gosselin delivered a walkoff single. The M-Braves and Generals completed the 4/18 suspended game prior to 4/19 s regularly scheduled contest. Christian Marrero launched a walkoff solo homer in the 11th to lead Mississippi to an 8-7 victory. Later that evening, the M-Braves entered the ninth down 3-2 and fought back to tie the game before Kyle Russell delivered a walkoff single to lead the M-Braves to a 4-3 victory. elusive WIN, STARTeRS: After dropping six decisions in the first 16 games of the season, the M-Braves finally got in the win column with one of its starting pitchers on 4/21 at Mobile when J.R. Graham picked up his first win. Prior to that, all eight of the M-Braves wins had come via the Braves bullpen. The franchise record for the longest time frame for a M-Braves starter to pick up the win is 17 games (2008). It ll be his fifth start of the season and his 39th career start. LAST TIME OUT Graham turned in seven shutout innings to pick up the first win by an M-Braves starter in 2013 (7.0 IP, 4 H, 2 K). The Braves defeated Mobile 3-1 at Hank Aaron Stadium to extend their win streak to six games. HIGHLIGHTS enters the season as the 2nd-best Braves prospect according to Baseball America. Ranked No. 4 by MLB.com Graham was pulled after two frames in his 2013 debut. He took a liner off the leg in the top of the second, finished the inning and batted in the bottom half of the inning but did not return for the third.
