Montgomery counters with RHP Greg Harris (3-5). With just four games left in the first half of the season, the M-Braves need a strong finish to take second place away from Biloxi. LAST GAME: In game one of the final series before the Southern Leauge All-Star Break, the Braves played host to the Biscuits and fell by a score of Mississippi came within two outs of tying the consecutive errorless innings streak (78.2) and one walk given up with tying that record (13) as well. SEVEN M-BRAVES NAMED TO SOUTHERN LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAM: The Southern League All-Star Game, with the North Division taking on the South Division, will take place Tuesday, June 20 at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, FL. Two pitchers and five position players were selected to represent the Mississippi Braves as Southern League All-Stars. LHP Kolby Allard and RHP Mike Soroka, both just 19-years-old, were both named to the South Division roster. Position players include OF Ronald Acuna, INF Travis Demeritte, INF Joey Meneses, C Kade Scivicque and INF Luis Valenzuela. MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU PITCHER OF THE WEEK: RHP Mike Soroka, 19, made two starts during the week and did not allow a run over 15 innings of work. The young righty, who was recently selected as a 2017 Southern League All-Star, held opponents to just seven hits while striking out 13 batters. MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU PLAYER OF THE WEEK: OF Connor Lien, 23, posted a.296 batting average in seven games during the week. The outfielder had a double, a home run and three RBI. In 53 games with the Double-A Braves this season, Lien is hitting.207 with seven doubles, a triple, six homers and 17 RBI. BRAVES ORGANIZATIONAL PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE MONTH: The Atlanta Braves announced the minor league pitchers and players of the month for May. For the Double-A Mississippi club, RHP Wes Parsons and OF Ronald Acuna were selected for the monthly accolades. Acuna, 19, posted a.415 batting average with seven doubles, a triple, three homers and 15 RBI in 21 games during the month of May. He also stole 12 bases during that time frame. In 23 contests since joining the Double-A Braves on May 9, Acuna is hitting.396 with 12 extra-base hits and 18 RBI. Parsons, 24, appeared in five games and made two spot-starts for the M-Braves during the month of May. During those games, Parsons recorded a 1.69 ERA, giving up just five hits in 16.0 innings of work. He struck out 11 and walked four. He has wins in his last five decisions and even though he didn t get the win, he pitched seven shutout innings against Pensacola in his last start. He will need to muster up all he has against the second best offensive team in the Southern League. LAST TIME OUT Mike Soroka put together his third consecutive quality start and fourth of the season as he pitched seven shutout innings against the South Division leading Pensacola Blue Wahoos Saturday night. He allowed only four hits and no walks while striking out four, but did not factor in the decision. Soroka won 7 of his last 8 starts at Rome last year with a No Decision (W, 7-6) in the other.
