The Braves send LHP Max Fried (2-11) to the hill against RHP Tyler Carpenter (2-5) for the BayBears. LAST GAME: The Braves and BayBears played a doubleheader, making up a rain-out game from July 8, Monday evening at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile. The two games were scheduled to be seven innings each, but it took overtime to complete game two, as Mobile shut out the Braves 2-0 and then took the nightcap 4-3 in 10 innings. Both starting pitchers went the distance in game one while eight pitchers combined to complete game two, three for Mississippi and five for Mobile. BLUE, BBQ, BUD & BRAVES BASEBALL: The Mississippi Braves will host a Blues, Bar- B-Que, Bud and Braves Baseball series during the upcoming homestand scheduled for Friday, August 4 through Tuesday, August 8. The event is presented in conjunction with Southern Beverage and WJTV. ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE: Arizona Fall League Director Steve Cobb announces organization and staff (managers, pitching coaches, hitting coaches, athletic trainers) assignments for the 2017 season that begins Tuesday, October 10. M-Braves Manager Luis Salazar has been named Manager of the Peoria Javelinas of the West Division. Regarded throughout professional baseball as the finishing school for top prospects since its inception in 1992, the six-team league features elite young players from every organization in Major League Baseball. The league plays three games per day six days a week (Monday-Saturday) in six Cactus League stadiums. MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Kolby Allard, 19, picked up the win against Jacksonville Saturday night at Trustmark Park. He held the Jumbo Shrimp to just five hits and two walks while striking out four in 5.2 innings of work. Allard is 6-9 with a 3.56 ERA in 21 starts for the M-Braves this season. MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU PLAYER OF THE WEEK: For the third consecutive week Dylan Moore has been named the FB Player of the Week. Moore, 24, played in five games during the week and posted a.316 batting average. He went 6-for-19 with a double and two RBI. In 90 games with the Double-A Braves this season, Moore has a.190 average with 11 doubles, three home runs and 31 RBI. He s hitting.306 in 24 games during the month of July. BRAVES ORGANIZATIONAL PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE MONTH: The Atlanta Braves announced the minor league pitchers and players of the month for June. For the Double-A Mississippi club, RHP Mike Soroka and OF Jared James were selected for the monthly accolades. Soroka, 19, posted a record of 3-1 with a 0.79 ERA in five starts during the month of June. The young righty was selected as a 2017 Southern League All-Star and was named to the 2017 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. The Canadian was selected by the Braves in the first round (28th overall) of the 2015 draft. James, 23, hit.333 with five doubles, a triple and seven RBI during the month of June. He s hitting.256 with nine doubles, four triples, two home runs and 19 RBI in 71 games with the Double-A Braves this season. The California native was selected by the Braves in the 34th round of the 2016 draft out of Long Beach State. He has struggled against the BayBears this season. In two previous outings he is 0-2 with an ERA in 8.0 innings allowing 10 runs on 13 hits with five walks and six strike outs. LAST TIME OUT Max Fried was solid in three innings of work against Jacksonville last Thursday. He gave up a run in the first because of a fielding error, but allowed just one hit on the evening.
