The M-Braves will look to avenge their Thursday night loss to the Generals when the two teams meet on the diamond at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night. LHP Michael Mader (1-0, 2.84) is scheduled as the M-Braves Friday night starter. Toussaint s counterpart on the mound will be Jackson right-hander, Justin Donatella (1-0, 0.00). LAST TIME OUT: The Mississippi Braves were defeated by the Jackson Generals by a final score of 6-1 in the series opener on Thursday night. The Generals out hit the M-Braves The game remained tied 1-1 until the top of the fifth inning when the Generals took advantage of several M-Braves miscues, scoring five runs in the top half of the inning. Jackson starter, Jon Duplantier (2-0, 1.80) earned the win while Mississippi starter, Kyle Wright (1-3, 4.66) suffered the loss. THIS DAY IN BRAVES HISTORY: In 1971, Braves outfielder Hank Aaron joins Babe Ruth and Willie Mays as the only major league player to hit 600 career home runs. His historic homer, a 350-foot drive over the left field wall, comes off Gaylord Perry in the third inning of a 6-5 ten-inning loss to the Giants at Atlanta s Fulton County Stadium. M-BRAVES VS. GENERALS: The M-Braves and Generals will meet ten times in 2018 after the Generals went 6-3 against the Braves last season. The Generals (formerly West Tenn Diamond Jaxx) and Braves met in the 2016 SL Championship Series with the Generals (then a Seattle Mariners affiliate) sweeping the best-of-five series, 3-0. HAMMER TIME: Jackson, MS native Chris Maloney enters his first season as the M-Braves manager and is the seventh skipper in franchise history. Maloney attended Jackson s St. Joseph High School and graduated from Mississippi State University in Maloney spent the previous six years on the St. Louis Cardinals Major League coaching staff as the team s third base coach (2016-July 2017) and first base coach ( ). Prior to joining the Cardinals, Maloney was the Memphis Redbirds (AAA) manager for five seasons ( ), leading the team to winning records in four of his five seasons. Maloney ranks ninth among active minor league managers in wins with 1,350 entering the 2018 season. PROSPECTING: The Atlanta Braves farm system was ranked by MLB Pipeline as No. 2 in Major League Baseball.
