There is no question in the Houston area that summer has arrived. And it s not even June at press time and there is a named tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico. Many of the area clubs may relax their dress code for the summer months. Be sure to check the ads or call or the clubs. Names and phone numbers are found in the individual ads and on the back page. Texas State Square and Round Dance Festival is coming up next weekend. The Trail-In dance is May 31. The festival is held in Tyler this year. Monday, June 4 is the Bluebonnets Annivarsary Dance. That should be a great dance with Joe Saltel. Katy Prairie Promenaders is having a Father s Day Ice Cream Special on June 16. Get out those crazy hats for the Crazy Hat special at Ganado Mustang Squares. Brazos Bottom Belles & Beaus will have their Summer Picnic Special on June 26. For all you round dancers out there, are you familiar with the Weekend Fun Dance nights with Martha and Tammy? The next Weekend Fun Dance will be Friday, June 22 at 7:30. 6 Dancing Right by Brian White I m back! I m finally getting over my health issues I ve been dealing with for about the last fifteen months. I thank everyone for your concern and prayers. The Houston Callers Association had a meeting Sunday, March 18, 2018 with nine area callers, one round dance caller, one out of state caller and two dancers present. The HCA is implementing a certification process for our member callers. This certification has two parts; the first certification will be for Basic level 1, Basic level 2 and Mainstream. The second certification will be for Plus. I assigned Tim Ploch, Wade Driver and Bob Baier to make up this committee with Tim Ploch as chairman. Tim has devoted many hours to complete this program with the help of Wade and Bob. We truly hope that all our local callers will earn their certification on both parts. I would like to remind all HSRDC member clubs that the HCA will call a dance for each club once a year for your club. If you would like to take advantage of this offer please me. We do not charge for calling but we will not turn down a donation to the HCA. That s all I have for now. Next month I will be focusing on one particular movement as I did in the past.
