Well we had our first ice cream ride of the season and what a turn out it was. Cyndy and I were the only ones that showed up. But we had a good conversation before the temperature sent us back into our cars and back home. But as you can see we have plenty of more things planned for the year so you all can redeem yourselves. The Bunny Run was again a huge success with over 300 stuffed animals collected. We were all disappointed that the only patient in the York Hospital Ped. Ward was discharged 15 minutes before we got there. The staff was overjoyed with the animals and then showed us around the ward which was very nice. Also at Hoffman Homes the children were very happy with the animals and a number of them had a hard time deciding which one they wanted. It is always a good feeling when we do this and the joy that we bring these children just warms your heart. Doug held a CPR class and now we have 6 more people CPR certified in the chapter. Congratulations to those folks for taking the course and I hope you never have to use. 2 ASSISTANT CHAPTER DIRECTOR Larry Staines As I write this it is 8:30 in the evening and it is still 60 degrees outside. A week ago we had a foot of snow on the ground. Now it's almost all gone, spring is here and all young men's fancy turns to riding their motorcycle. But before we can do that there are things that need to be done. One of those is our CPR/First Aid class. Doug took care of that with 8 of us in the class on a Saturday morning. This training is good to know but just like insurance you hope you never have to use it. Thanks Doug. Next up was our first ice cream ride to Tropical Treat. This was the day after all the snow. I hope anyone that made the ride enjoyed the ice cream. On the 24th we had our annual Bunny Run. I wasn't able to make it this year but I know there were a lot of bunnies collected. They will provide a lot of smiles throughout the year. I'm looking forward to Saturday and the Meet n Eat at Momma's Pizza. Looks like we will have a good turnout. Thanks Shirley for setting that up. On April 7 there is a meeting set up at the Prince homestead. We will be discussing and practicing our act for the District Rally. See everyone at the gathering and ride safe. Larry Staines Assistant Chapter Director MEC NEWS Woody Woodfill I have been in contact with some of the members that I have never seen and a few of the ones that I haven't seen at a gathering in quite some time. Some of the answers I'm getting is they don't ride much anymore or they like to ride by themselves. I told them if you don't ride much they can still join us on other events or they can use their 4 wheel and still go along to some of the nice places we visit. It will be a wait and see process to see if any of them show up. Hopefully we will start to see some folks that we haven't seen in a while. Woody Woodfill, MEC Coordinator MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS: YOU MIGHT BE OLD IF 1. Everything hurts, and what doesn t hurt, doesn t work anyway. 2. Your knees buckle and your belt don t. 10. A fortune teller offers to read your face. - Submitted by Shirley

There is no question to BIG or small that we can t answer or send to the GREAT and powerful >Harold and Diane for one!! Mike & Shirley Prince, (717) , mikep@gwrrapav.org PA. Asst. Directors PA DISTRICT EDUCATOR Hello everyone! Last month, we started talking about GWRRA s Rider Education Program (REP). If you missed it, look up the March newsletter to read about the purpose of the program. To refresh your memory, Level I is all about commitment, and Level II is Education. As they say on many TV commercials, But wait there s more! There are two more levels to REP. Do you have what it takes to up your game in motorcycle safety? The following information is taken from the GWRRA website. Level III: Safety by Preparedness Level III of the REP is also referred to as Certified Tour Rider/Co-Rider. It represents the commitment of the Rider and/or Co-Rider to be prepared in the event of an accident to give aid and possibly save lives. This is done by being knowledgeable in First Aid or CPR and carrying a first aid kit on their motorcycle at all times. It would be wonderful if we could achieve the coveted goal of zero accidents, however, we know realistically, accidents will happen. Because of this, it is important to be fully prepared to lend aid to unfortunate accident victims. It is important to always be prepared to save a life. Level III of the Rider Education Program was developed to deal with such circumstances by recognizing and encouraging proper First Aid or CPR training. CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation), has been used to save many lives. Being trained to render CPR or First Aid is a tremendous asset to those the REP participant will come in contact with daily. Requirement: Current in Level ll and have taken either First Aid or CPR training. No cost to sign up. Patches available at $4.00 per participant. Receive: "Certified Tour Rider" or "Certified Co-Rider" patch. Level IV: Safety By Enhanced Commitment and Preparedness Level IV is the most prestigious of the REP levels and is referred to as Master Tour Rider/Co-Rider. It represents the highest commitment of the Rider and/or Co-Rider to safe riding and preparedness. This commitment is shown by a demonstrated history of safe miles and current certification in both First Aid and CPR. These Master Tour Riders/Co-Riders are the finest example to everyone of the highest commitment to safe motorcycle operation and preparedness. Level IV of the REP, the Master Tour Rider, was designed for those special caring individuals who desire to "be all they can be" with regards to motorcycle safety.
10 The requirements are more stringent than Level III and require a greater commitment. These individuals are caring, trained and prepared with the experience to back them up. It is realized Level IV is not for everyone, but for those who desire to be of greater service to their fellow man, it is the correct prescription. Why desire to be a Level IV Master Tour Rider? It's a worthy goal. Being prepared to save a life is a high calling indeed! These individuals are shining examples to the rest of the GWRRA membership. Others aspire to practice the same commitment as displayed by those who have attained Level IV. For that reason, because these individuals are ambassadors to the members at all levels, GWRRA provides a special gathering to celebrate the Master Tour Rider commitment each year at the District Rally, Region D Rally and Wing Ding. Requirement: Current in Level lll for one year and have taken both First Aid and CPR training. Have 25,000 Safe Miles and must be committed to the suggested riding with "Proper Riding Gear" at all times. Cost: $35.00 for each participant (Black and Gold patch is available for another $8.00) Receive: "Special Triangular" patch with dark blue border and your individual Master number embroidered on it. Note: all Level Program Patches are also available in "Black and Gold" at a charge of $1 extra per level for levels I, II, and III. So there you have the program structure: Level I Safety by Commitment Level II Safety by Education Level III Safety by Preparedness Level IV Safety by Enhanced Commitment and Preparedness The GWRRA is proud to present the Rider Education Program. We encourage you to think seriously about motorcycle safety and be a participant in the GWRRA Rider Education Program. You should also remember the old cliché, "an ounce of prevention IS worth a pound of cure." Always wear protective riding apparel! If you are ready to sign up for the program, or if you have questions, please contact me at prosemi2017@gmail.com. I will be more than happy to help you. Remember to be seen, and have FUN getting there! Doug Motter PA District Educator DISTRICT COY COORDINATORS: We hope all had a very nice Easter!
