We will resume meeting in the fall. June 29 th Segue Tour at Eden Park July 19th Arnold's Brothel's, Bootleggers and Booze Tour Highlights from Recent Events Mingle We had 19 members and 1 guest. Chuck Wise won split the pot. Kelly Fegley from Golf Galaxy discussed putters and grips. Putters are either face or toe balanced. You can check your putter by balancing it and seeing how the face lays. If it is flat, you have a flat faced putter. If the toe hangs down somewhat, you have a toe faced putter. If you consistently miss putts to the right, you may need to switch to a toe faced putter. The size of your grip is also important. To determine if you have the proper size, grip your club normally. Then remove your right hand. The fingers on your left hand should just touch the palm. If they don t meet, your grip is too large. If they overlap, then your grip is too small. Bowling - 11 bowlers met at Colerain Bowl for a Saturday afternoon of fun. Whoever had the longest putt won $5 for their team. The team of Judy Elmore, Rick Youngberg, Dawn Mason and Tom Haley won 6 holes. The team of Marsha Barnholtz, Debbie Tesch, Kathie Hiatt and Jim Wilson won 4 holes. The team of Ann Wassmann, Roger Schroeder, Joanne Greenway and Larry Landes won 2 holes. The team of Linda Utterbery, Jane Olson and Tom Rogers won 3 holes. The team of Pat Dixon, Jeff Tabler, Jane Anderson and Kent Gearhart won 3 holes. Judy Elmore and Linda Utterberg won the 2 mystery holes. Cassel Hills Golf - Closest to the Pin and Longest Putt for Men was won by Tim Maybury. There wasn t a winner for Closest to the Pin for women and Jane Olson and Ann Wassmann split the Longest Putt. Euchre - 8 players stayed after the golf at Cassel Hills to play Euchre at Kent s house. Rick Youngberg won 1 st place and Bob Reiner won 2 nd place. Tim Maybury won for most loaners and Ann Wassmann won for most euchres. There was also a rousing game of dominoes played at the same time. Sue Seitz won the domino game. We are planning on using the site for notifications of monthly meetings, social events and golf outings for this year. The site can be found at meetup.com/asgacincinnati. You will continue to receive s notifying you of events, but only if you sign up. Please sign up as this will be the only method of communication for this year. You must create a MEETUP logon. Then make sure you go to the asgacincinnati site and actually click the JOIN US button. Just because you have a MEETUP logon doesn t mean you are member of the group. Golf Tip - STANCE BEST TIP: Play ball far enough away to get full extension. Aim clubface first. Then align your body. At address, your hands should be about four inches from your thighs. Keep your head up. Bend forward from the hips about 33 degrees and tilt body toward right at address. Let your arms hang naturally. Elbows should be bent slightly inward at address. Keep your chin up. Maintain minimal knee bend. Keep right knee flexed and stable. Don t let it slide or straighten throughout swing. For drives, set up with 80% of weight on right foot. Make sure the ball is not too far forward. For drives, it should be at a point below left shoulder. Position ball under the logo on your shirt. Play ball far enough away from body to get full extension. The longer the club, the more the left foot should be flared out from perpendicular for short irons to 45 degrees for the driver. Golf Thoughts When Jack Nicklaus plays well, he winds. When he plays badly, he cones in second. When he plays terribly, he comes in third. Johnny Miller I don t think TV has messed up my game. I ve pretty much taken care of that on my own. Curtis Strange The older I get, the better I used to be. Lee Trevino My biggest fear is having to go out and get a real job. Fuzzy Zoeller Three things I fear: lightning, Ben Hogan and a downhill putt. 4 ASGA WESTERN REUNION May 30-June 1, 2014 Every year we have a May golf outing and National has one back east over Memorial Weekend. They annually call theirs The Reunion. So this year we have tabbed ours The Western Reunion. We have also picked a location that most of the members of western chapters of ASGA can get to easily. It s Carson City, home of The Devine Nine, located 30 minutes south of the Reno-Tahoe Airport in Nevada s Capital City. We have scheduled golf on Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st allowing those to travel home late on the 1st or take Monday off and travel then. Golf is scheduled for Dayton Valley on Saturday and Sunridge on Sunday, both beautiful layouts. We have a two night, two golf day package with a dinner on Saturday night plus breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday. The standard package includes lodging, golf, two breakfasts and Saturday dinner. We have both single and double occupancy available. We will be staying at the Gold Dust Resort Hotel and Casino. The rates are as follow: Standard package: Junior Suite: Dble Occ. $250/person, Single Occ. $340/person (double queens or king available) If you want to get in early and play golf, we have a bonus round available at Silver Oak, for an additional $50.
