Ms Somers advised the gelding would now be retired. ROYAL RANDWICK Saturday 15 October 2016 Race 1: City Tattersalls Club Victory Vein Plate 1000m Goodfella stable representative Mr J Bruce advised the colt has been spelled. Race 2: Bartier Perry Handicap 1600m Torgersen stable representative Mr C Duckworth advised he was satisfied with the horse's recovery following its disappointing performance in the above race and the intention was to continue with the horse's preparation. Race 5: City Tattersalls Club Handicap 1400m Bullrush co-trainer Mr M Hawkes advised the gelding has been spelled. Race 7: Ainsworth Brian Crowley Stakes (Listed) 1200m Super Maxi co-trainer Mr M Hawkes advised the gelding has been spelled. CESSNOCK Monday 26 September 2016 Race 6: Hunter Jaguar Benchmark 55 Handicap 1150m Above Suspicion Stewards today concluded their inquiry in respect of the mare, which was eased out of this race and was subsequently found by the Club's Veterinary Officer to be lame in its off-hind leg and as a result was euthanased on that day. During the adjournment veterinary and treatment records were sourced and no abnormalities were found. Stewards also considered a necropsy report from the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Camden, and heard evidence from Mr N Perry, representing trainer Mr P Perry, and Racing NSW veterinarian Ms T Selig. On the evidence it was found that Above Suspicion had marked haemorrhage associated with the near-side hock and it was observed clinically as non-weight bearing near-hind limb and, as the Stewards were satisfied that on the evidence there was no pre-existing condition that could have caused or contributed to the injury sustained, the matter was concluded pending the clearance of samples taken from the mare.

2 2 RACE 1: Vinery Plate 1400m Readabeel began awkwardly and lost ground (2L). Think Like A Bird slow to begin. After the 400m So Splendid, which was commencing to tire, shifted in away from Medaille, resulting in Think Like A Bird being crowded for room. Laid in in the straight. Near the 150m improved onto the heels of the weakening Partyhouse and was obliged to shift to that runner's outside to continue into clear running. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Granadilla raced wide without cover throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly bled from both nostrils for the first time. Stable representative Mr C Duckworth was advised Granadilla would incur the mandatory three month ban from racing under AR53A. Collage briefly held up approaching the home turn. So Splendid a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 2: TAB Plate 1400m Rocky Marriage as the start was effected turned its head to the offside and subsequently began awkwardly and lost ground (2L). A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which overraced in the early and middle stages and got its head up, revealed it to mildly lame in the near-foreleg. Trainer Mr D Payne was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again. Point Of Order slow to begin. Raced greenly in the straight and near the 150m shifted in, obliging its rider G Schofield to stop riding and straighten. Chaussure bumped with Silent Warrior at the start. Silent Warrior bumped with Chassure at the start. Ready For Success held up rounding the home turn. Lucky Tiger near the 250m the gelding, which had not yet secured completely clear running, laid in towards the heels of Gravitate and was steadied. Cosgrove for the major part of the race raced wide without cover. Kokopelli when questioned, J Parr explained that he had been instructed to lead on the gelding today. He said he did not ride his mount along in the early stages and moreover was neutral on the gelding, however it showed exceptional gate speed and in the early stages drew a considerable margin on the field. He added, with the addition of blinkers today and stepping up to 1400m, Kokopelli raced far too keenly and despite his efforts was reluctant to come back underneath him until the 800m. J Parr further stated the early effort was the principal reason for the gelding weakening noticeably in the straight.

3 3 RACE 3: Schweppes Handicap 2400m Der Meister which shifted its off-fore plate was replated on arrival at the barriers and subsequently cleared to run by the Club's Veterinary Officer. Crowded on jumping between Lamma Hilton, which began awkwardly, and Karaka Lass. Red Lago in the early stages raced keenly, got its head up and proved difficult to settle. Centerofattention overraced in the early and middle stages. Lamma Hilton held up rounding the home turn. Rider J Collett explained the manner in which the filly was to be ridden today was left to his discretion. He said, Lamma Hilton having its first start over 2400m, it was decided to give it a chance in the race and ride it patiently. He added shortly after the start he received a bump by Der Meister and when the tempo looked genuine in the early stages he elected to take up a position and travel behind Centerofattention. J Collett further stated that Lamma Hilton however was not suited when the race developed into a sprint home and found it difficult in the circumstances to make up appreciable ground in the run home. Stable foreman Mr E Cummings confirmed that the tactics had been left to J Collett as the filly is better suited when able to be ridden in a comfortable fashion. He said the manner in which the race unfolded into a sprint home meant that Lamma Hilton because of the circumstances got too far out of its ground. Karaka Lass when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, R Hutchings explained it was not his intention to lead today, however the mare began well and, after being niggled slightly in the early stages, commenced to race keenly. He said in the mare's best interests he allowed it to maintain a forward position. He added that leaving the straight on the first occasion Karaka Lass continued to race on the bridle and took some time for him to have the mare relaxed. He said after 1600m, although his mount was able to set even sectionals, it came under pressure after the 500m, commenced to hang out and weakened from this point despite his efforts. R Hutchings did indicate that Karaka Lass would be better suited on a more forgiving surface. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 4: tab.com.au Handicap 1200m My Psychiatrist slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which was resuming from a spell and raced disappointingly, did not reveal any abnormalities. Sanaya from an outside barrier was shifted in across behind runners in the early stages. Francais overraced in the early and middle stages. Infra Dig when questioned, T Clark explained that he had been instructed to ride the filly where it was comfortable and to ensure that it had cover as the filly has shown a tendency in its previous starts to race keenly and prove difficult to settle. He said in the early stages Infra Dig broke well, however he was surprised that Andsoitiswritten showed sufficient speed and maintained its position to his inside. He added that although the tempo was slow in the early stages, he felt that he would have to make too much use of his mount to improve and take up a position outside Diddums, the eventual leader, in the middle stages. T Clark further stated after the 800m he elected to take up a position behind Ciarlet, however Sanaya had improved

4 4 to race behind that runner and as a result Infra Dig was left racing wide without cover for the majority of the race. Ciarlet when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, G Schofield explained that his mount travelled well throughout the race and rounding the home turn he commenced to place the mare under pressure and trail Infra Dig through into the straight. He said, after shifting to a position behind that runner rounding the home turn, Ciarlet became under pressure and despite his efforts the mare failed to respond and was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Mr C Duckworth stated Ciarlet had been working well into today's race and a forward showing was expected. He said the only explanation he could offer was that the mare was second up after a testing first up run, which may have attributed to today's performance. RACE 5: #Theraces Handicap 1000m Texan Lad just prior to the start had its head turned to the left, began awkwardly and was slow to muster speed and then was crowded shortly after the start between Sammi Jain and Sharpsburg, which shifted in. Golden Shoes began awkwardly. When questioned, App. A Adkins explained that he was instructed to try and lead in the race if possible. He said his mount began awkwardly and in the early stages got its head up and was reluctant to improve despite his efforts. He added from the 800m he continually rode Golden Shoes along in an endeavour to encourage the gelding to press forward, however it failed to respond, drifted back and settled at the rear of the field. App. Adkins further stated that Golden Shoes continued to race ungenerously with its head up, however once balanced and brought to the outside of runners in the straight the gelding closed the race off strongly. Trainer Mr A Denham confirmed the instructions issued. He said that Golden Shoes is not the easiest horse to ride and may benefit from the engagement of a senior jockey and being stepped up in distance. Riders App. A Adkins (Golden Shoes) and J Collett (Worldly Impact) were cautioned about extending their elbows approaching the winning post to a position where it may come in contact with another horse or rider. Worldly Impact slow to begin. Briefly crowded near the 200m by Golden Shoes, which shifted in. Vaniloquio slow to begin. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight and then near the 200m was hampered when Zippy Hippy shifted in. Vaniloquio then did not obtain clear running until the 150m. Zippy Hippy near the 100m the gelding, which was giving ground, was tightened by Vaniloquio (T Angland), which shifted out to improve, and Texan Lad, which shifted in marginally. T Angland was told to exercise more care. Sharpsburg when questioned regard the performance of the gelding, which was resuming from a spell, G Schofield explained that he was able to take up the lead in the early stages without making too much use of his mount and enjoyed a nice run throughout the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure by the winner Cosmic Cameo rounding the home turn, which was positioned to his outside, Sharpsburg did not quicken and was well

5 beaten approaching the 100m. abnormalities. 5 A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any RACE 6: Pro-Ride Handicap 1600m Mount Omei - the declaration of correct weight was deferred, as the Stewards were of the view an incident had occurred near the 150m, which cast doubt over the placings. Subsequently Senior Steward Mr R Livingstone lodged an objection on behalf of the connections of 3 rd placegetter Mount Omei, against Champagne Ready (R Hutchings) being placed 2 nd, alleging interference near the 150m and approaching the winning post. On the evidence, it was established that near the 150m Champagne Ready shifted out briefly and hampered Mount Omei, which was carried wider, and in the run to the winning post Champagne Ready shifted out and inconvenienced Mount Omei, which was again carried out slightly from its rightful running. As the Stewards were of the view that had the interference not occurred Mount Omei would have finished ahead of Champagne Ready, the objection was upheld and the placings amended to ready. 1 st Katswiri 2 nd Mount Omei 3 rd Champagne Ready Rider J Collett was spoken to regarding his failure to lodge an objection and was reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fulfils his duties in similar circumstances. Bannatyne began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly on jumping. Megawatt slow to begin. Vain Elaine overraced in the early and middle stages and near the 1200m was steadied away from the heels of Laucala which shifted in when not clear. Shanakee the mare, which was laying in, was disappointed for a run between Katswiri and Megawatt early in the straight. Shanakee then continued to lay in and proved reluctant to shift to the outside of Katswiri. Bannatyne G Schofield (Laucala) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Bannatyne which, after being held up, was then checked and lost its running when crowded by Laucala. G Schofield's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 23 October 2016 and to expire on Friday, 5 November 2016, on which day he may ride. Rider T Clark advised that rounding the home turn his mount commenced to improve into the race well, however after suffering interference after the 200m, Bannatyne was then held up. He added once clear inside the 100m, the mare was finishing off the race only onepaced and for this reason he did not resume riding it out fully in the run to the line. RACE 7: TAB Rewards Handicap 1400m Sudden Blitz- slow to begin. Lost its near-hind plate in running. Pianissimo slow to begin. Laid out in the straight. Plutonic Rock from an outside barrier shifted in across behind runners in the early stages. Big Arty from a wide barrier shifted in across behind runners in the early stages.

6 6 Promas had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 150m. Approaching the winning post Pianissimo shifted out, inconveniencing Promas. As a result Promas was not ridden out to the end of the race. Slick Speed raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Raced in restricted room for some distance passing the 200m as Promas shifted out to improve. GENERAL: Mr D Beadman, representing trainer Mr J O'Shea, today submitted a guilty plea in respect to a charge under AR178F of having failed to record in his treatment records the administration of meloxicam to the horse Ozark in the relevant period leading up to when Ozark was sampled on 12 August For this breach Mr O'Shea was fined the sum of $400. Mr J Walter, licensed syndicator of Proven Thoroughbreds, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR56B in that he failed to declare Mrs D Rankmore a 2.5% shareholder in the racehorse Setoka. For this breach Mr Walter was fined the sum of $400. In assessing this penalty, the Stewards were mindful of the assistance that Mr Walter provided the inquiry, his good record in racing and his 15 years as a syndicator. Further, the Stewards were satisfied as to the bonafides of Setoka following the transfer of ownership lodged yesterday with Racing NSW. Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: So Splendid, Typhoon Tess, Cosgrove. Race 2: Kokopelli, Silent Warrior, Ready For Success. Race 3: Der Meister, Red Lago, I'm Trouble, Allzin (2), Centerofattention. Race 4: My Psychiatrist, Diddums (2), Sanaya. Race 5: Sharpsburg, Cab Fair (2), Zippy Hippy, Vaniloquio. Race 6: Megawatt, Katswiri, Shanakee, Mount Omei, Champagne Ready. Race 7: Bolord, Plutonic Rock, Cottage, Sudden Blitz (2).
