1 2017 J35 T35 ONE DESIGN CLASS RULES & LIMITATIONS The fllwing rules shall apply t the J35 T35 Class. The rules apply t all races, regattas, r events where a J35 T35 Class start is in effect. I. Sail Inventry Restrictins A maximum f ne mainsail, tw gena's, three spinnakers, ne jib & ne heavy weather jib (as defined by ORC regulatins) may be carried abard during an event r regatta. The spinnaker material shall be wven ply r nyln and n ther extic material. The fllwing is intended t serve as a guide fr participants and race rganizers: Acceptable Materials fr Minimum-Weight Spinnaker Clth.5 ply, Nrth T-6016, Dimensin 6611,Cntender Superlite.6z. nyln, 30-20, Prscher Nyln SO52 & SO42,Test 404, Richard Hayward SS060, and.5 Zephyercte. 2 N sails ther than the apprved genas/jibs, spinnakers & mainsail can be used & nly ne f each f these, n the prper hist, can be abve deck at the same time, except when changing sails. A. Regatta Sail Restrictins: The sails selected and used fr the first race f the regatta must meet the requirements listed abve and must be used fr the entire regatta. Exchanging r substitutin f sails during an event is nt permitted. Damaged sails may be repaired, r replaced upn review & apprval f the technical cmmittee. Regatta restrictins are in effect fr the Champinship Series events, except the Pt. Hurn-Mackinac Race. When in effect, these restrictins supersede any ther restrictins. B. Sail Limitatins fr New Sails All bats are limited t tw (2) new sails per seasn. New sail limitatin wuld apply t all racing sails as defined in the J35/T35 Racing Rules Handbk (main, genas (#1, #2, #3), and spinnakers. Limitatin wuld nt apply t heavy weather sails (#4, strm jib, strm trysail) r t supplemental sails used in nn J35/T35 races. Special cnsideratin may be granted fr severely damaged sails. If a bat damages a primary racing sail (e.g. a sail that is the newest f its kind in the bats inventry) beynd repair, it may be pssible t replace it by asking the technical cmmittee fr special permissin. Bats that are purchased by new wners shall have an exemptin: within the first three (3) years are allwed t purchase a new cmplete set f sails (1 f each f the 7 class sails). Shuld the 7 sails be replaced in less than 3 years then the new wner will be allwed 2 sails per year starting with the year after the purchase f the 7th sail. C. Series Sail Restrictins: Sails can be exchanged r substituted during separate races in a series prvided the sails meet the requirements listed abve. Exceptins: Fr Pt. Hurn-Mackinac Race the sail inventry is as limited by PHRF rules except that asymmetrical spinnakers are nt permitted. II. Crew Limitatins: Fr the Champinship Series events, except the Pt. Hurn-Mackinac Race the number f crew n bard each yacht during any race shall nt exceed ten (10) persns, r less than five (5). There is n restrictin n crew weight. Skippers are reminded f the " spirit f the rule" and shuld be mindful f abusing the crew limit minimums. Such abuse may be grunds fr review and actin by the technical cmmittee. Unless therwise specified ther J35 T35 Class races have n crew weight limitatins. Prt Hurn t Mackinac race is limited as per the sailing instructins. III. Cmpetitr Eligibility: Maximum f ne persn per bat that meets ISAF Grup 3 cmpetitr qualificatin. (lk up ISAF Sailr Classificatin Cdes fr Cmpetitr Classificatin details ). 2 f 5 Revised: 4/30/2017

3 IV. Safety Equipment: Minimum safety gear & equipment shall be as required by ORC Categry 4 Regulatins and as required r mdified by the sailing instructins. V. Interir Equipment The fllwing minimum interir equipment is required n all bats: Tw burner stve, gimbaled Quarter berth & settee plywd Galley sink with thrugh hull fittings Head with thrugh hull fitting Factry installed ice bx r cler(s) with a ttal capacity f nt less than 3.0 cubic feet f strage Interir equipment supplied with the standard bat frm the factry may nt be remved except fr the fllwing: All cushins, Head drs, Table VI. Electrnics & Instrumentatin There are n restrictins n instrumentatin. All frms f electrnics, measuring devices, navigatinal cmputes, etc. are permissible. VII. Definitin f Jibs and Gena s A Jib is a sail, ther than a spinnaker, set in the fretriangle. A jib when measured n the perpendicular frm the luff (utside edge f the sail and/r luff rpe) t clew (intersectin f the lines f the ft & leech) shall nt exceed 4550 mm (14.93 feet). A gena is a sail, ther than a jib r spinnaker, set in the fretriangle. A gena shall be measured n the perpendicular frm the luff (utside edge f the sail and/r luff rpe) t clew (intersectin f the lines f the ft & leech). This LP measurement shall nt exceed 6945 mm (22.79 feet). In any jib r gena, the midgirth measured between the midpints f luff & leech shall nt exceed 50% f the ft length nr shall the length f intermediate girths at 25% & 75% f the luff & leech frm the head exceed values similarly prprtined t their distance frm the head. N clewbard r headbards may be used in any jibs r genas. A maximum f fur (4) battens may be used in jibs & must be arranged with apprximately equal spacing between head & clew. Battens may be used in jibs nly if the sail is s tacked that the frward end f the batten is frward f the centerline f the mast. Battens f any length are allwed, but n batten shall prject utside f a straight line drawn frm the head f the jib t the clew. Jibs & genas may be sheeted frm nly ne pint n the sail except in the prcess f reefing the sail. VIII. CLASS RULES Unless therwise nted in these rules all yachts must cnfrm t J35 r T35 Class rules fr hulls, weights, appendages, and rigging requirements. 3 f 5 Revised: 4/30/2017

4 IX. Seasn Champinship Trphy. A. Half-hull Trphy The Half-hull mdel is a perpetual trphy and is presented t the Seasn Champin as determined by the scring frmula nted belw. B. Awards Awards will als be presented fr 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd place based n Seasn Champin scring 1. Seasn Champinship Scring. The J35 T35 Class Seasn Champin shall be determined by the fllwing criteria: a) Scring Scring will be perfrmed n an individual race basis. The Lw Pint scring methd will be used with (1) pint fr first place per Appendix A f the Racing Rules. b) Thrw Outs Scring will be perfrmed using a variable number f thrw -uts: 33% f all races sailed will be thrwn ut Fr example: a. In the event races are sailed, 6 races will be thrwn ut b. In the event races are sailed, 5 races will be thrwn ut c. In the event races are sailed, 4 races will be thrwn ut d. In the event 8-11 races are sailed, 3 races will be thrwn ut c) DNS Thrw Outs Bats missing mre than the number f thrwn ut races will have at least ne f their DNS's cunted tward the seasn final scre. The number f pints assciated with any DNS will be the number f participants in the specific missed race plus 1 pint. If a bat is frced t cunt a DNS, and the bat has mre than ne DNS fr the seasn, then the DNS that is cunted will be the ne with the lwest number f pints (e.g. frm the race with the fewest participants). d) All DNS Races All DNS races must be thrwn ut befre a bat can thrw ut a sailed race. e) DSQ s DSQ 's can be thrwn ut. 4 f 5 Revised: 4/30/2017

5 X. Annual Winter Meeting & Party It is the traditin f the J35 T35 Class that the seasn champin shall hst the annual winter meeting & party with financial assistance frm the trphy funding. The winter meeting is nrmally held in late January r early February. XI. Technical Cmmittee A. Purpse: The technical cmmittee is charged as being the final authrity regarding measurements r interpretatins f class rules. If any issues r ptential infractins arise the technical cmmittee will be respnsible t review the situatin and make apprpriate determinatins. The technical cmmittee may review and recmmend changes t the class rules subject t apprval by a majrity f wners. B. Members: The technical cmmittee shall cnsist f the current fleet captain, past fleet captain, and representative frm each Pt. Hurn, Anchr Bay, DRYA and Lake Erie. In additin, bth J s & T s shall be represented. (I.e., n less than tw f either bat). C Technical cmmittee: Bill Wildner, Bill Vgan, Denny Meagher, Rbert Grdenker XII. Bell s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race J35/T35 One Design Rules A. Rating Certificates: All Bats must btain and submit an ORR Certificate per Ntice f Race B. J35/T35 One Design Class Scring: All bats in the J35/T35 Class will be scred using the fastest ORR Certificate submitted frm the J35/T35 Class. (this will ensure the rder f finish matches the place in class after time crrectin) C. J35/T35 One Design Overall Scring: Bats sailing in the J35/T35 One Design Class will be included in the verall scring using the fastest ORR Certificate submitted frm the J35/T35 Class. 5 f 5 Revised: 4/30/2017
