RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers rallied from a 2-1 deficit with four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Minnesota Twins, 5-2, on Wednesday night at Comerica Park. In the eighth inning, Grayson Greiner had the game-tying RBI single, while Victor Reyes drove in the go-ahead run. Niko Goodrum had three hits in the win, including a solo home run, his sixth of the season, while John Hicks also added three hits. Ma hew Boyd started for Detroit and received a no decision a er throwing 5.0 innings and allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 5.0 innings. The Tigers bullpen combined to throw 4.0 shutout innings, capped by Shane Greene tossing a scoreless ninth inning for his 16th save of the season. The Tigers and Twins conclude their three-game series this a ernoon. TIGERS SIGN FOUR SELECTIONS FROM 2018 DRAFT: The Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms with four selec ons from the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Dra. The list of signed players includes CF Reece Hampton from UNC Charlo e (12th round), LF Danny Reyes from the University of Miami (28th round), CF Clark Brinkman from Creighton University (32th round) and LF Ma Jarecki from Benedic ne College (KS) (37th round). The Tigers have now agreed to terms with 15 of their 40 dra picks. NOT YOUR AVERAGE JOE: Joe Jiménez worked a scoreless eighth inning with one hit allowed and one strikeout last night. Jiménez has not allowed an earned run in 15 of his last 16 appearances, pos ng a 0.59 ERA (15.1IP/1ER) and 22 strikeouts during the span. For the season, Jiménez is ed for second in the American League with 35 appearances, while he ranks fi h among American League relievers (min innings pitched) with a 2.23 ERA (32.1IP/8ER). STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM: The Tigers got plenty of produc on from the bo om half of the order in last night s comeback win. John Hicks, Niko Goodrum, Grayson Greiner, José Iglesias and Victor Reyes combined to go 10x20 with three runs scored, two doubles, a home run and three RBI. Hicks and Goodrum each had three hits in the victory. GARDY EARNS CAREER WIN NO. 1,100: Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire picked up the 1,100th win of his managerial career in last night s win over the Twins. Gardenhire is the 54th manager in Major League history to reach 1,100 career wins. He also ranks eighth among ac ve managers in victories. AT COMERICA PARK: The Tigers are 2-3 on their current six-game homestand, which includes three games vs. Cleveland (1-2) and three games vs. Minnesota (1-1). Detroit today will conclude a stretch of 18-of-21 games at home. The Tigers are at Comerica Park this season, and their 22 home victories are the fourth most in the American League.
