RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers dropped the series opener to the White Sox, 4-2, on Monday a ernoon at Guaranteed Rate Field. Niko Goodrum and Victor Mar nez each hit a solo home run in the loss, while Jeimer Candelario, JaCoby Jones and Victor Reyes each had one hit. Michael Fulmer started for Detroit and threw 5.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit with four walks and five strikeouts. Shane Greene took the loss a er giving up three runs on three hits. The Tigers and White Sox play the second game of their three-game series tonight. Following the series against Chicago (AL), Detroit returns home for a six-game homestand, which includes three games vs. St. Louis (September 7-9) and three games vs. Houston (September 10-12). V-MART STAYS HOT: Victor Mar nez belted a solo home run in the ninth inning of yesterday s game, his ninth round-tripper of the season. Mar nez now has 246 homers in his Major League career, tying him with Ken Singleton for the 16th-most among switch-hi ers in MLB history. GOODY TWO SHOES: Niko Goodrum belted his 16th home run of the season in the seventh inning yesterday. Goodrum s 16 homers are the most by a Tigers rookie since 2003 when Craig Monroe hit 23 and Eric Munson hit 18. FILTHY FULMER: Michael Fulmer threw 5.2 innings yesterday, allowing just one run on one hit with four walks and five strikeouts. In three starts vs. the White Sox this season, Fulmer has posted a 0.57 ERA (15.2IP/1ER) with nine hits allowed and 13 strikeouts. V-MART ON THE MARK VS. THE SOX: Victor Mar nez has put up impressive numbers in his career against the White Sox.
