John Hicks led off the inning with a triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Niko Goodrum. A er José Iglesias was hit by a pitch with two outs, JaCoby Jones launched a two-run home run to le field to give Detroit the lead. Michael Fulmer started for the Tigers and earned the win, allowing a run on five hits with one walk and four strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Joe Jiménez pitched a perfect eighth inning, while Shane Greene worked a scoreless ninth inning for his 17th save of the season. The Tigers begin an eight-game road trip tonight as they open a three-game series at Chicago (AL). Following this weekend s series vs. the White Sox, the road trip con nues with two games at Cincinna (June 19-20) and three games at Cleveland (June 22-24). TIGERS SIGN SIX SELECTIONS FROM 2018 DRAFT: The Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms with six selec ons from the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Dra. The list of signed players includes LHP Adam Wolf from the University of Louisville (fi h round), CF Avery Tuck from New Mexico Junior College (17th round), RHP Angel Reyes from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (19th round), 3B Zach Malis from Grand Canyon University (24th round), LHP Jared Tobey from Wayne State University (30th round) and 1B Jus n Childers from Ohio Dominican University (33rd round). The Tigers have now agreed to terms with 21 of their 40 dra picks. FILTHY FULMER: Michael Fulmer turned in his second consecu ve impressive start yesterday vs. Minnesota, tossing 7.0 innings and allowing one run on five hits with one walk and four A er pos ng a 6.89 ERA (31.1IP/24ER) in six starts from May 7-June 3, Fulmer has a 1.29 ERA (14.0IP/2ER) over his last two starts. KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES: JaCoby Jones belted his fi h home run of the season yesterday, a go-ahead, two-run shot in the seventh inning. With yesterday s blast, Jones is now hi ng.394 (13x33) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs and eight RBI in close and late situa ons this season. His.394 ba ng average in these situa ons ranks fi h in the American League. NOT YOUR AVERAGE JOE: Joe Jiménez worked a scoreless eighth inning with one strikeout yesterday. Jiménez has not allowed an earned run in 16 of his last 17 appearances, pos ng a 0.55 ERA (16.1IP/1ER) and 23 strikeouts during the span. For the season, Jiménez is ed for the Major League lead with 36 appearances, while he ranks fi h among American League relievers (min innings pitched) with a 2.16 ERA (33.1IP/8ER) and seventh with 12 holds. SERIES-LY SPEAKING: The Tigers clinched a series win with yesterday s victory over the Twins. Detroit is now in it s last eight series at Comerica Park. Overall, the Tigers are in series this season, but are just 1-8 in nine road series. RECAPPING THE HOMESTAND: The Tigers went 3-3 on their recently completed six-game homestand, going 1-2 vs. Cleveland and 2-1 vs. Minnesota. As a team, Detroit hit.224 (47x210) over the six games, while the pitching staff compiled a 3.79 ERA (57.0IP/24ER), including a 2.43 ERA (37.0IP/10ER) by the team s star ng pitchers.
