After having six days off for the Christmas holiday, the fourth-ranked Duke women s basketball team (10-0) will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 30 as the Blue Devils will host Monmouth (3-7) at 2:00 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Fans can follow the action live on the Blue Devil Network with HD video at while the game will also be aired live on the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network on WDNC AM 620 with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) calling the contest. The audio is also available live at Sunday s contest will also feature a tacky holidays sweater promotion in which prizes will be given to the fans wearing the most unique sweaters. Also, fans wearing a sweater will receive a $3 general admission ticket to the game. Following the game on Sunday, the Blue Devils will return to ACC play to face N.C. State on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 7:00 p.m., on ESPN3. Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes... The Blue Devils have won 57 straight home contests against unranked non-conference opponents. The Blue Devils have notched a 29-2 record in the month of December over the last four years. Duke has won 45 straight home games in the month of December with the last loss coming to UCLA on Dec. 20, 1997 (83-93). Duke registered six different players with double-fi gure scoring against CSU Bakersfi eld. Now nine Blue Devils have scored double-fi gures at least one time this year. Duke has hit 50.0 percent or better from the fi eld in four different games. The Blue Devils own fi ve different studentathletes hitting over 40.0 percent or better from downtown -- Tricia Liston (51.2), Chelsea Gray (47.4), Haley Peters (53.3), Chloe Wells (40.0 and Alexis Jones (46.2). Elizabeth Williams has blocked at least one shot in every collegiate game she has played - 43 straight. The streak is the second-best in school history behind Alison Bales 55 in Tricia Liston posted two three-pointers in the St. John s contest to move past the 100-trey mark of her career (107). Chelsea Gray and Elizabeth Williams had stellar performances during the Women of Troy Basketball Classic. Gray was selected the MVP, while Williams was named to the all-tournament team. Gray averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.0 steals in the two games. She almost had a triple-double against CSU Bakersfi eld with 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. In the fi nal game versus USC, Gray totaled a game-high 18 points, 10 rebounds, fi ve steals and three assists. Williams averaged 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 1.0 steals and 1.0 assists. She had 21 points and eight rebounds in the CSU Bakersfi eld contest, while notching 13 points, fi ve rebounds and fi ve blocks at USC. nation, Elizabeth Williams is the only underclassman to rank in the top eight in the country. Chelsea Gray came close to registering her second career triple-double against California with 13 points, nine assists and eight rebounds as well as 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists against CSU Bakersfi eld. The Blue Devils registered 70 or more points in the opening seven contests for the fi rst time since Duke held Iona to 31 points, which marks the 18th time under Coach P the Blue Devils have held an opponent to under 40 points. See you on Dec. 30 at Cameron Indoor. Go Duke! Hey, I Know You... Haley Peters of Duke grew up 10 minutes away from Monmouth. She is best friends with freshman Kasey Chambers of the Hawks. Peters fi rst basketball coach was Kasey Chambers mother, Mary Beth Bowler, who coached her from around age eight until 13. Peters also went to soccer and basketball camp at Monmouth a few times growing up. Home Sweet Home... Undefeated Starts... The Blue Devils have registered a 10-0 start to the season for only the sixth time in school history. Duke s 10-0 start is the second-best kick-off to the season under Coach P. (20-0 in ). Williams Solid Play... Liston From Downtown... Junior Tricia Liston continues to fi re away from downtown as she is hitting 51.2 percent from three-point land and is averaging 2.2 treys a contest. She has hit 8-of-her-last-14 three-point fi eld goal attempts over the fi nal three games. Liston tied a season high with four treys at Southern California. She has hit 13 straight free throws on the season and drained a trey in 17 consecutive games. Gray Posting Impressive Numbers... Phone interviews with out of town media can also be arranged. 3 Duke Basketball Stellar Assist/Turnover Ratio... The Blue Devils have opened the season with a 1.3 assist/turnover ratio, which ranks eighth nationally. The 1.32 ratio is the best for Duke since a 1.39 assist/turnover ratio in , which is also the school record. Sharp Shooting Peters... Stellar Passing Duo... In the ACC THE SERIES WITH MONMOUTH Duke and Monmouth will meet for the fi rst time in school history. Blue Devil Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie has faced the Hawks once in her career winning a 2001 matchup, 60-52, when she was at Michigan State. Coach P Nets 150 Wins... With the victory against CSU Bakersfi eld, Blue A LOOK AT MONMOUTH Devil head coach Joanne P. McCallie reached 150 wins at Duke in only six years. She is the third-quickest Monmouth enters Sunday s matchup with a 3-7 NCAA Division I head coach in school history to reach overall record after defeating Manhattan on Friday, 150 wins at an institution in 182 games The Hawks kick off a three game road trip with their trip to Durham and have tallied a 1-3 record away from home this season. Alysha Womack (16.3 points, 2.7 rebounds), Chevanna Paalvast (11.4 points, 4.8 rebounds) and Abigail Martin (7.4 points, 6.1 rebounds) lead the way in scoring this season for the Hawks. Head Coach Jenny Palmateer enters her second season with the Hawks after serving for one season as recruiting coordinator at Seton Hall and 10 seasons on the coaching staff at North Carolina State. Last season, Palmateer led the Hawks to a 12-6 record in the NEC. Gray Registers Double-Double... DUKE VS. THE NORTHEAST CONF. Wells, Moore Net Double-Figures... Both Sierra Moore and Chloe Wells netted 10 points in the contest against CSU Bakersfi eld, which marked season highs for the duo. Wells hit her fi rst two treys of the season as she fi nished the night hitting 4-of-5 fi eld goals. Moore hit all three of her fi eld goal attempts and hit 4-of-6 free throws on the night. In the NCAA Stats... Duke holds a record of 3-0 all-time against Northeast Conference teams -- Wagner (2-0) and Quinnipiac (1-0). The last time Duke faced a Northeast Conference opponent came Dec. 28, 2008 when No. 6 Duke downed Quinnipiac, McCallie owns an undefeated 7-0 career record against Northeast Conference teams. Sophomore Elizabeth Williams was named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday, Dec. 10, after averaging 20.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and 1.5 assists on the week. A product of Virginia Beach, Va., hit 17-of-28 fi eld goals in the two games for a 60.7 fi eld goal percentage. In the Georgia Tech contest, the 6-3 center posted a career-high 25 points to go along with 11 rebounds and six blocked shots. It marked her fi rst double-double of the season and sixth of her career. She hit 10-of-14 fi eld goals and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. On Sunday versus St. John s, Williams had a team-high 16 points, seven rebounds, fi ve blocks and two assists as Duke downed the Red Storm, 60-42, at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.
