Date Game 1943 A 2-0 loss to the Yankees in WS Game 5, gave NY the World Series Championship. The Cards had 10 hits, all singles. The Yankees managed just seven hits, six singles and one HR following a single Boston won 6-3 in Game 5 of the WS as all of St. Louis runs were unearned as they managed just four hits Defeated the Yankees 4-3 for a Game 4 WS win. Cards starter Ray Sadecki left after one out in the first and three runs, but two relievers allowed NY just two hits the rest of the game Eight pitchers couldn t hold off Boston in Game 6 of the WS, an 8-4 loss.
