THAT'LL LOOK GOOD ON THE MANTLE: With nobody out in the seventh inning, INF Carlos Asuaje drove RHP Jordan Lyles' breaking ball into the Padres bullpen for his first career Major League home run...with his double in the first, yesterday marked the first time in his career that he has had extra-base hits in consecutive games, and it was the second occasion in his career that he has had multiple hits in consecutive games (also: June of this season)...it was his sixth multi-hit effort of Asuaje has now hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, hitting.359 (14-for-39) with four doubles, a triple, one home run and five RBI, with a pair of three-hit games in that span...has also reached base safely in 12 consecutive games. JABARI, FOR THREE: OF Jabari Blash's three hits yesterday marked a career-high in a game...blash is riding a career-high five game hitting streak, hitting.500 (9-for-18) with two doubles, two homers, seven RBI and five runs scored in that time...he also has multiple hits in three of his past five games...blash has also hit safely in seven consecutive starts, batting.458 with a.792 slugging percentage in starts since May 4. DATES IN PADRES HISTORY: On July 19, 1982, Tony Gwynn went 2-for-4 with a double, a sacrifice fly and a run scored in his Major League debut at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium...Gwynn hit fifth and played center field in the Padres loss to PHI. It will be his 17th career appearance (16th start) against the Rockies and is 4-4 with a 4.79 ERA (47 ER, 88.1 IP). Earned the win in his lone start against the Rockies earlier this season on 6/2, working 5.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out three in the Padres 8-5 victory.
